Preview of New Emporia War system (Part 1)

Category: Dragonica Game: Dragonica Posted on Sep 08, 2009 10:01 am

Here's a sneak at how the New Emporia War system will be like in future. This has been confirmed in the Taiwan build and IAHGames should be receiving the same build, with tweaks made to cater to the gamers in the the SEA / ANZ region. Now, the Emporia War system is rather simplified. Guilds bid, using Guild Points, to fight one single 1v1 match. The winner gets to own the Guild Tower, an exclusive map only accessible by guild members of the winning guild. Inside the Guild Tower, an NPC sells Town scrolls, Pots and Cures that heals various status. After the revamp, it will take on a more sophisticated design and pose as a challenge to those who wants to be crowned Number #1 Guild in the server!

The new Emporia War system sticks to the previous method of using Guild Points to bid for entry to take part in the 2-week long battle. There are some changes to the layout when bidding as shown:

1. Average amount of Guild Points bidded by contesting Guilds
2. Remaining time to end of bidding phase
3. Total number of Guilds which have submitted bids

Previously, as mentioned, Emporia War takes place between 1 guild VS another guild. In the new system, a maximum of 8 Guilds can take part!

After the top 8 Guilds have been selected, based on the highest amount of Guild Points bidded. They will successfully enter the 1st Phase of the Emporia War. In here, guilds can choose the dates for when they want to fight their battle. The time slots will be the same for all the dates allocated.

On the day of the assigned match, all guild members who log in to Dragonica will receive a message informing them of the Emporia War. Once they click on the "Yes" button, they will be teleported into the Emporia War map. Should they decide to prepare themselves before the start of the match, they can close the notice box first. A blue note will remain on screen for them to access the Emporia War map when they are ready.

Inside the Emporia War map, the same applies as to how previous Emporia Wars were fought. Here's an introduction for those who might be new to Guild Emporia War.

After being teleported into the Emporia War map, players have 30mins to prepare themselves before the start of the battle. This is a good time for those who are new to the map, to familise themselves with the layout and also find out the location of the Dragon Cores.

Here are some new features that have been added so that guild members can keep track of the progress of the battle. No more mindless hack-and-slash on the Cores. Use these tools to coordinate where your guild members should go, defend the Support Core? Attack the Main Core? Kill the opposing forces that have come to harrass your attack?

1. Attacking Guild's name
2. Attacking Guild's total score
3. Remaining time for Emporia War
4. Defending Guild's total score
5. Defending Guild's name
6. Cores' remaining HP, time to next heal from Support Core to Main Core

The tool will show the remaining HP for each Core. Orange colour represents the Attacking Guild's Core and Blue colour represents the Defending Guild's Core. The smaller circle represents the Support Core (with 10,000 HP each) while the bigger circle represents the Main Core (with 100,000 HP)

Damage taken by the various Cores will be reflected instantly on every players' screen. The leaders would have to determine what their opponents are up to and come up with a counter-measure quickly or face losing the battle! Similarly, what you do to the Cores will be viewable by the opponents, so plan your attack or defence before-hand, don't get caught off-guard by your enemy!

Here are the locations of the Cores in the map. Square represents the Attacking Guild's Cores, Circle represents the Defending Guild's Cores. White refers to the Support Cores and Yellow the Main Core.

Once there is a winner for the battle, the Emporia War will come to an end. A table will be displayed showing the Top 10 gamers for each side.

Winning criteria:

Priority 1: Main Core is destroyed. Winner will be awarded to the team that destroys their opponent's Main Core

After time is over:

Priority 2: Winner is determined by whichever side who's Main Core has the higher remaining HP

Priority 3: If both Main Cores have the same HP, the winner is determined by the total score accumulated

Priority 4: If both Main Cores have the same HP and the total score is the same, Defending guild wins by default

Points awarded during the Emporia War:

  • Breaking one Support Core awards the team with 100 points
  • When both Main Cores have the same HP, killing one member of the opposing team nets 11 points
  • When both Main Cores have different HP, members from the guild with a Main Core that has a higher HP will net 10 points for killing one member of the opposing team. If the opposing team kills a member of the other guild, they will be awarded with 12 points instead

Additional rules:

  • The Attacking Guild is given the advantage to engage the Defending Guild's Main Core immediately
  • The Defending Guild can only attack the Support Core. For them to engage the Attacking Guild's Main Core, they must accumulate a higher score than the Attacking Guild. Hence, they must engage their opponents if they plan to take out the Attacking Guild's Main Core as part of their attacking plan

So, you think that's the end? Well, let me tell you this, that's just the 1st Phase! After all 8 guilds have slogged it out with one another, the last guild standing will be awarded the priviledge to challenge the Dragons themselves! More information in my next entry. Stay tuned.
