*sigh* Oh, it’s gonna be another long blog again.  Lately, I read some news about what Sony decide for their game direction.  Yes, Sony has mark a phenomenal success with Walkman and Playstation.  But that doesn’t mean they’re invincible.  I have some opinions about several statement made by representative of Sony.

PS3 Price

We heard the news that Koei Tecmo’s CEO, Kenji Matsubara, asked Sony to cut their PS3 price,… … with “please”.  Man, Koei is big developer, and has been one of my favourite co

After my last blog article, one of my friend ask me, “So is there any particular game title that you would like to watch as a movie?”  Oh yes there is!  In fact, there are.

All of these title, being listed here because I felt that the base story is very strong.  That’s the only consideration why I brought them here.  This is going to be a very long blog.

And here’s my list:

5. Disciple World

The world of Disciple series, SacredLand or refer as Nevandaar, was created by Bethrezen, a once favourite angel of Highfather (anothe

In my last blog article, I said that when I watch Uncharted 2: Among The Thieves, it was like watching a movie instead of game trailers.  Seems like the hollywood guys also like this game title, and from the rumors that I read, they will start to shoot a movie based on this game.  You can read the complete news here. (Alas, it’s not the Among The Thieves movie).

And then, I try to remember, how many game that has been successful (critically and commercially) when they’re being adapted to movie.  Hmm, compare to comic and novel to movie, game h

Yeah I do know that sex do sales, and I even made some articles about it.  But I just found a site that held a voting about who has the best ass in the game world?  And I just think, “Are you kidding me?  It’s virtual!  Game designer can build their characters’ asses as sexy as possible, as tempting as possible.  There’s no way you would vote for that!”

And I was wrong.

Many people vote for this virtual ass contest.  And here’s the top 10 result:

10. Ivy from Soul Calibur

9. Christie Montero from Tek

I have these conversation one day when I was having a lunch with one of my friend.

M :          I think Blizzard is going to postponed their WoW film, although at first they announced it to be released this year.  They will appoint a new director and scripwriter.

F :           Ah it is so Blizzard, postponing their project.  But their work is awesome, so I think it’s worth to wait.

M :          I agree. I heard they will make the timeline of the film set before the event of Warcraft.

F :           Wait, is it going to be the time when Orc tribe hasn’t been corrupted, or is it going to be the day they invade Azeroth?

M :          Well, I don’t know about that.

(And so on, we carry on talking about many characters story such as Thrall, Cairne Bloodhoof, Arthas, and how the great battle between many heroes, Sylvanas Windrunner,  and Arthas as the Lich King will become)

So, in the middle of our conversation, a stranger that ove

I’ve read some articles lately, that questioned the importance of sexy outfit in game.  They ask why character designers have to make armor that looks like they’re lack of materials to cover all of the character’s body.  Well I understand that they also point out to the male characters outfit, but I guess the examples provided show us the female cases are dominant.

Back to the main question.  Is it important to put sexy outfit in games?  Well let see.  Many industries are using sexy models for promoting their products.  And if that method was not successful, there is no way it will be used again and again in their next promotion event.  Need examples?  Automobiles industries always used some hot babes to promote their products.  And sports game also using sexy cheerleaders to enhance the cheerfull environment.  I saw so many gadget magazines cover in my country are using sexy models.  So let’s face it, hot babes do sale!  And we call them hot because they’re sexy.  Isn’t it obvious that hot babes identic with sexy outfit in most cases?

Do u c my PDA?

A few days ago, me and my friends come across a once famous internet café (IC).  Sad to see they have to closed their business.  Along the way, we discuss about this trend where many ICs in my country are starting to close their business.  Yes, there are also new ICs coming to the business.  However, a statement come out from my friend’s mouth:

“I think Internet Cafés will eventually dead.”

And I asked why.  He reply with a logical reason.  He said:

“It’s simple.  Because internet price is getting lower and lower.  People start to be able to afford 24/7 internet in their home.  So why would they need to go to the internet café?”

Good point.

BUT, I have my own opinion.

What we have in my country, is not a real internet café.  In Korean terms, they are just Internet PC Banks.  An internet café should emphasize more in their café, not just the PC.  Well, if we refer to an Internet PC Banks only, yes it would be dead.  Only some of them will survive because they’ve already had base customers.

If gamers are transformed to NPC, and game publisher are transformed to Game Player, I think gamers are currently giving the holy quest to game publisher:  Kill WoW!  Kill the ruler of current MMORPG market world, and you will be well rewarded with… gold.

Well some people getting disturbed by this terms: WoW killer.  And they getting sick of how people always comparing new game with the king of its genre.  I have a bad news for them: people will continue using it until a real challenger of WoW is coming!

The terms WoW killer, doesn’t mean that a game will come and make WoW loose all their players and die!  Please don’t get it wrong.  But yes this term can be used as a reference that a game should succeed WoW’s throne!  So I am not really agree with any opinions saying that  we should stop using this term “WoW killer”!  When you said to your friend something like, “Come on let me know, you’re killing me here.”  Does this mean that your friend is actually killing you???  No, he / she’s not.  So, it’s just a term.  What do you expect us to

Here finally I arrived at a place called “town” in an MMORPG world.

And there they are… the citizen of this town.

Standing there, whether it’s day or night, rain or sunny, never left their place.

They never walk to any part of the town.

You know exactly where to find them.

No social life, no need for food.

They can’t leave their places, so even if they had a problem, they would need your help to do it for them.

Including delivering items to other citizen.

And they are called NPC.

Well that statements, are not originally come from my mouth.  It’s from one of my friend.  And I have to agree with him.  Most of today MMORPG design their NPC as a talking statue in a place that they called town.

The illustration above is not an actual GE conversation with NPC.  I’m just giving a sample of nowadays typical NPCs and how quest is sound weird because of their “busy” reasons.

When I played Ultima series, there’s an event and quest, where I have to follow a man, pay attention to his social life, search for some place that he visit before, and take away an item from there.  The man that I followed

Dexcross' Wish

Well, this is my wishlist.  Not so long ago, MMOSite Writers Club had a topic to be written about bringing video games to MMOGs.  I have wrote my part in my previous article, but somehow I wonder, which game that I would really want to be brought as MMORPGs?

5. Feeding Frenzy

You might be surprised and shout WTF when I mentioned this mini games.  But seriously, have you ever thought that being a fish with evolution capability, which is one of interesting RPG elements, can be so much fun?  If this game is ever brought online, we will compete not just on how to eat as much lower class fish as we can, but also avoiding higher class of fish.  It’s eat or being eaten.  No need for PVP ground cuz everywhere is PVP ground, and being in higher evolution level doesn’t mean you are safe, but all the fields is about feed or being the food.  As for the bonus status of every special food you take can still be implemented.  And if they build the fish world just like many cinematic animation movie such as Finding Nemo or Shark Tale, we can implement funny equipment too.  I heard that some people complaining th
