Love built online - a myth?

Category: Life Game: Default Posted on Apr 03, 2008 9:35 pm

How is a relationship built on the net exists? How could you possibly love someone you never knew in real life? How can you just tell that youve fallen in love with someone whom you have just talked with using the ever reliable keyboard? I couldnt possibly grasp the idea of these online relationships

One day when I was playing Ragnarok Online (btw, this is the very first game I set my eyes on), a guild mate asked if I could party with him (By the way, no one knows Im a girl cause Im just afraid of all those creepy guys who will constantly harass you once you blow up your cover). So we played like 5 hours straight, just killin monsters and leveling up. I enjoyed his company and boy, he is very talented tad! Where can you see a wizard that types a lot and still manages to kill a lot? LOL. So there, we became an instant pair (a wizard and a priestess)

Time passed by and this guy suddenly earned my trust. We talk and talk without him knowing that Im a girl. He would always call me bro XD. I never want to believe it; but Im starting to fall for him. Sometimes I would tell him I love you bro and he was like YUCK. He is just so lovable.

For the first time in my online life, Im thinking more about a guy I havent met yet. I even chat with him in MSN. He was asking why my email address is about pretty and peaceful. I just kept saying, Have any problem with that?

One day I decided to ask him if we could meet. We live almost in the same area, so I know he wouldnt mind. He instantly said yeah. I was kinda nervous cause he will now know my true identity. I was afraid that he will ignore me cause I lied about who I really am. As soon as I approach him, he was like OMG. Believe me, his reaction was priceless. He was always looking at the floor as if his eyes were hooked to it. After a while, at last, he became at eased at me now and we started talking about the game we both love and about almost everything. I ended the night with a kiss on his cheeks.

After that we started dating and gaming at the same time. He respected me even more and thats quite unique for a guy gamer. He even proposed to me in guild chat, and our entire guild mates were like What a gay lol. We ended as real life lovers after a few more weeks and it was really something worth remembering.

All my belief suddenly changed because of that. I was like whoa, love really does exist online Maybe its just a matter of right timing and luck to really find a relationship online. Now I believed that we can fall in love only thru written words while killing off those foul monsters :P

hmm, so it exists, cool. Though people like me seem to only bother PKing and stuff like that when we play, so getting a girl on9 is a bit of a drag for me XD.

Lovely story btw, changed my views on internet love^^

My boyfriend and I met online. And we've been together now for almost 3 years, and have visited each other countless times since then. :3 I just don't see how some people could stay in a relationship unless meeting online or SOMETHING... I talk to my boyfriend every day from the time I wake up until the time I go to bed. And so we are "with" each other constantly. And I can't ever say the same about any other couple that met their boyfriend/girlfriend in real life first. From the examples my mom and brother have provided, they get to see their boyfriend and girlfriend like once a week if they are lucky. And talk maybe 3 times a week, including that one time they get to see them. ):

Awe, that's such a cute touching story!

I'm very happy for you - In my opinion, love is formed through any means possible. May differ from person to person, but there's someone out there for each person, regardless of where they meet.

Best wishes!~
Luck.

Yea, i can see how people can generate affection and then meet and fall for eachother, but whats bogus to me is how people are "together" for years and never met face to face.

Grats on your lover ^^
Looks like things worked out in ur favor though ^^

Your story is really touch me. I always thought that love was an excuse soo ppl and family can use you. But you made me rethink that.

@Hyuk
We ended as real life lovers after a few more weeks - is this what you mean? No we didn't end up after a few weeks, we just started to become real life lovers after a few more meetings.

When u two met each other, there was no trust anymore, u two just had to keep the relationship on purpose, just making u and him nervous.

Touching story, as you said, it’s just a matter of right timing and luck to really find a relationship online, but why you two ended? that's the only disappointed fact that found in this article
