The Se7en Capital Sins in MMORPGS

Category: General mmorpg's Game: Default Posted on Dec 08, 2007 1:00 am

Lust

In case you haven't been to the news section of mmosite then breaking news, adult mmorpg's are here. Of course is not enough to look up the skirts of other players' virtual avatars, now you can have sex with them with your virtual avatar on the center of the most populated town in the game.

There was a recent article in mmosite, that talked about a pedophile ring in Second-Life where underage avatars perfomed sexual acts for a price.

Lust

Gluttony

This guys just can't get enough, wither it is gathering resources until they need to make mule accounts to hold their ever-growing inventory or just buying their item of choice out of every player in the market; they just can't have enough. They rarely ever spend on anything, they rather sit for 10 minutes while their health/mana recovers than spending  2 potions.

Gluttony

Greed

Money, it doesn't matter if your game calls it Adena, Penya, Gold, Coins, Dalant, the more these guys have the better. There are guilds made based on a in-game business model, where their main mission is to make gold.

Here are the gold buyers who support our beloved gold farmers, they are willing to trade their mom's purse money for in-game currency.

Greed

Sloth

If you can recall from Are Game Publishers Listening to Your Ideas? overriders are the outspoken type of lazy players. They don't want to do quests for good items, don't want to farm for experience or items. This guys are willing to follow you from start to end of the they asking you "Can you power level me?". And God forbid you are a Game Master because once they notice they are going to harass you asking you for freebies, mounts, and anything that requires effort to obtain.

Sloth

Wrath

Anger can make you lose your head, and in mmorpgs it is e-a-s-y to get angry. Unless you are really lucky, you will at one moment or another break one of your weapons trying to upgrade it, a player you trusted will betray you, you will get disconnected before picking up your loot, a noob player will follow you around and annoy you, your account will get hacked and looted, and... the list goes on.... Of course this will not all happen at once, but once it does, you will explode, and I hope my avatar is not around you when it happens.

Wrath

Envy

You selfish creature, you cant tolerate someone else having something because you want it also. Yes, you will try to hide it with excuses like "He/She doesn't deserve it" , "My alt character has a better weapon than his Epic". But it's useless, inside out you are burning to have the item that is reason for your envy.

And in our sin parade, here comes the farmers again, exploiting your inability to let it go, this guys will sell you the Epics you need to fulfill your desire. But it is just an illusion, who do you want to fool?, everybody knows you couldn't have kill the boss monster for that weapon by yourself.

Envy

Pride

Welcome to the noob zone, even if they are only level 1 they are throwing threats at you as if they were dime a dozen. These guys will rather walk all over the map and get owned by mobs a million times than ask for directions. They just logged in, but they have the game all figured out, they have megalomaniac tendencies and tend to hunt other new players to preach their greatness.

Well,,,,its nice to know that i will be tromped on, robbed, spit at, made a sexual pheen, and even cussed at but,,,,no one and i mean no one will take my Pride. And I am one of those that let ppl run all ova me but in the end i come out on top because, i dont let it get to me. I can walk away knowing I helped someone today. I dont care if they do all those things. I'll forgive them and keep goiing. I will win out in the END. Because I'm me and I conquer all.

@Kevin, maybe I didn't take the pictures, but they are royalty free pictures and they are free to download and edit however I want to, I watermarked them because recently someone reposted one of my articles along with the images I used. If you want to be my photographer you can submit an application :)

True, the newbie factor is everywhere such as your own job. Yes this hurts you games, but sometimes you can only prevent these "sins" from happening. Devise a strategy to keep the community from doing such things, and "tips" on the screen don't cut it.

*You don't own those pictures id you didn't photograph them your self or the owner gave them to you with permission so don't you dare put credit for someone else's work even if you "slightly" edited it!
