The Legend of Golden Plume Online [LGP] at first, seems to resemble almost every other cute fantasy style game out there, that is until you get started. My first impression with LGP was that it appeared to have a unique playability about it. Perhaps it was the robust pet system, the in-game events sponsored by GM's or the "cute" factor but I found myself enjoying this game more than most F2P's out there.

Graphically sound for a free to play game and though the animation quality is acceptable, the slight but precise animations for the characters somehow adds to experience. Additionally, many of the item textures do not match the name of the items. This appears comical at times but as it is an alpha version, it remains passable.

LGP also boasts an energetic sound track which will help melt away time spent on those grinding sessions to reach your next quest goal. No voice acting is present in this game, though the sound effects for spells and abilities seem to fit the actions they are representing.

LGP possess a unique play style with a robust questing system. Thankfully, with such a robust quest system, it could not have been made easier. It literally has way points in the quest log that, when clicked, will auto-path you directly to the objective. In addition to the quest system there is a very well designed pet system, to the point where you can tame anything you can hit. The tamed monsters will, upon capturing, generate a set of random abilities which it will utilize when fighting with you. Additionally, there are rare monsters of every type to find and tame. These monsters have golden name and are more powerful than you would otherwise find normally.

The Community in LGP was scarce at the time of alpha testing, those that I did happen to run across however, were friendly and helpful. Partying in LGP rewards members by giving an experience bonus to those involved but it was not enough to promote it over soloing. While there is a marriage system planned for the game, as many other features, I do not believe it to be implemented yet. The User Interface was a bit clunky and the translations in some quests were incomplete but it possessed all the essentials as well as a general chat which is broadcast to the entire game channel. GM events were also prevalent in the game, angelic and demonic wings were given out to players at random times throughout the game.

If LGP was marketed as only a pet catching game, it would be a blast. Luckily, there is more to it than just that. Each of the classes are unique and possess a different and rewarding experience. With no one class being over powered, any will seem a good choice to choose and enjoy the game again. Don't forget the numerous side-quests and collection quests for chances at unique items.

Personally I find LGP to be a great game to spend your free time on, especially if you enjoy pets. For a Free to Play game, it is worth a good look.
