Weekly Comments Pick-up: Gaming Addiction, Final fantasy
Category: Dialogue Game: Default Posted on Aug 10, 2009 1:56 am
Last week, our columnist Thana Lee had two articles up, talking about the addiction in gaming, Is game addiction worse than crack? And is it truly inevitable? As promised, we choose some comments here as a weekly edition:
Sonicfanofhell's comment on Gaming Addiction - Worse than Crack?
well, like u said, ppl need to play not all the time, but sometimes. i mean i play when i'm bored and no one needs me at the moment, but when someone needs me, i try to figure a way to pause or not get killed easily, but if i see that's impossible, then i just leave it and not care and go the rescue. basically, all u said is true, and we all just need to control rsleves or there will be dire consequences.
Elve's comment on Is it truly inevitable?
the things you write are correct. But the temperament is not personality. It is not what you like or dislike but rather what imborn abilities you have. I believe that things like short temper or ability to spell or calculate come inborn but not if you like rap or rock music. What person you are is a very very complex thing that involves what imborn qualities you have and what your enviroment was and what it is at the momment. What things have happened and what exactly have you noticed in them. As I said - too many variables for a man to track. Even if we suppose that it is possible for an emotional addiction to be embeded in the genes how can you become addicted to something if you are not exposed to it for long enough?
Agree or not, join the discuss in this post!
Some other comments:
ReaperV's comment on A Chinese teenager died in an internet addiction treatment centre
I really hope somebody gets put in prizon (or exucuted to save the Chinese tax-payer's money) for this attrocity. The parents are only to blame for their brain-washed ignorance, the center is to blame for the death
Yoshio's comment on Why the top 10 F2P MMORPGs with PvP is flawed
Look, PVP in any game that isn't arena-based (by that I mean like Guild Wars) but is level-based (like every freakin' MMO since Everquest) is destined to be plagued with issues involving balance and restrictions--or a lack thereof. So, any game that features a cash shop where armor, weapons, pets, or other character modifying items can be bought will definitely NOT have good PVP. I dare a F2P MMORPG to prove me wrong. Wanna know why PVP is so much more interesting in an FPS? Because there's a much more level playing field and everything is a lot more balanced.
Cyrusnagisa's comment on Actual Final Fantasy XIII Screenshots Kind of Disappointing
"If you are such a gamer, go back to playing 8-bit Mario for its gameplay then." People who have no valid argument always say thist stuff to people who say "graphics dont matter" Graphics dont matter, but to a point. The "dumbdown" as we see here, is still in the aceptable range for current games, and if this bothers you, then you have other problems. You can make a game look as good as it wants, but if the controls suck, or the story is horrible, then its still a POS game.
