Facebook MMO > Browser based game

Category: Definitions Game: Default Posted on Oct 12, 2009 1:22 pm

Facebook MMO had some hype for around 2 years, it's not the Facebook MMO has attracts everyone attention, it's was the HYPE that 'attractive'. In the end of the day, it's still a browser based MMO, just like any.

Browser based games are seen as still a game, but not with the advanced and high powered graphics that bigger budget games use.

Why is it called an 'Facebook MMO' and not a browser based MMO in Facebook?

Calling it a 'Facebook' MMO does make it a bit simple, if that the case, however it's going to be worrying as common Facebook users find out what an Browser-based game is, they'll will be confused with Facebook game and Browser-based game for a while. Well this article will give you an answer.

Facebook huge popularity has allowed it to become it's own identity, you say the word 'Facebook' in the street today, everyone will instantly know what you'll be talking about.

Runescape Classic - Old School Browser Based MMO

You ask someone if they know what Runescape is... the chances are they wouldn't have a clue or a maybe. Same goes for Newgrounds, Shockwave and Browser based games.

A facebook MMO is just a browser based game covered with a cape that say 'Facebook'. The users are the one's with the profiles, that's like signing up to Ijji or Aeriagames if anything. Facebook MMO is the same to Browser Based MMO or Multiplayer game.

Poker Heroes from Aeria Games

The most common 'Facebook MMO' is Texas Poker... everyone playing this... as many users who use facebook are every day people such as office and business people. Get some in game clips and start playing. Aeria Games also has a Poker MMO as of now.

A poker game does it worst by calling themselves an MMO, yet having around 10 players around a table, like every other video game does when they have 16 players in a deathmatch. I've seen chat rooms go up to 40 users and thread in a forum had 1000 posts by around 800 users, if anyone address like this.

Browser based game does a good job of entertain anyone who owns a lower end computer in the market or who wants to save time hopping into a game compared to high budget titles for entertainment.

I'm writing this article to allow users to be aware about the Facebook and Browser Based MMO differences. Is it more appealing for it to be called 'Facebook MMO' or should it be called a 'Browser base game in Facebook MMO'?
