Blizzard Unleashes a Zerg Rush of New Info
- Overlord
- Zergling
- Hydralisk
- Mutalisk
- Ultralisk
- Infested Terran
- Queen
In addition to these confirmed returns, numerous new units were revealed. Roaches are a new low-power, fast moving starting unit. Infestors take the place of the original game's Defilers, using the same Dark Swarm special ability as well as new Disease and Infestation abilities. The Corruptor is a new anti-air unit that doesn't actually attack flying baddies, but "corrupts" them, forcing them to fight each other. The Guardian has upgraded into the Swarm Guardian, maintaining its strength against ground units while gaining the ability to hatch Broodlings.
Along with the new units, Blizzard debuted what seems to be a new type of creep that some early reports are calling "Toxic Creep." Not much information is known yet about how this creep is created (possibly via Zerg Queens) or what its effects are, but we're guessing it's not good for Terran or Protoss land units standing on it.
We're expecting further word from Blizzard on all the new announcements in a language we better understand very soon, so keep your eyes peeled to 1UP for that. Until then, check out the new Zerg trailer that played at the event courtesy of GameVideos.
