First was the constant re-releases, then came locking characters that were already on the disc in the form of DLC and now they're releasing incomplete games and adding the rest as DLC? The hell is wrong with these people? At least have the guts to put in the effort to make a full sequel when you end a game with the equivalent of a to be continued.
This rant was when I found out that the DLC for Asura's Wrath was going to include Episode 19 through 22. At first, it was only supposed to be supplementary material that filled out portions of the game that were left out such as Asura's attack on the numerous Gohma after Episode 11 and Yasha's attack on a certain someone before Asura got there. The thing is, the game actually did a very good ending. The beginning of the last section of the game was a parallel to the very beginning of the game and even recreated a few of the scenes with different people involved now. This showed the growth of the characters and the scale of what they were fighting very well. However, the game ended on a cliff hanger that basically said that while his first fight was over, his next had begun. I felt that it was setting people up for a sequel, but unfortunately, it looks like it will just be some more DLC. They are releasing others in the form of Lost Episodes, but no idea what those are yet. Hopefully, they will be focused on other characters or something rather than even more story that you have to buy in order to get the whole story.
Take a look at Persona 4 for comparison. If you are going to do some crap about the real ending, at least do what they did. Make you choose the right choices throughout the game such as not telling everyone to shut up during the fight so you can understand their motivation. If you make all the right choices, then have them unlock the real ending. The true mystery is solved, everyone is at peace, and everything worked out fine in the end. However, under no circumstances do you force them to buy it separately. Good job telling everyone that you just half assed your game. Asura's Wrath felt like they just cut short the ending and just made you buy it later.
This is why games should not be releasing until they are complete. Every day it feels more like DLC is just a cheap excuse to make you pay for parts of what should already have been in the game. They are no longer the expansions of the game like they were meant to be. More and more they feel like parts that should have been part of the game from the very beginning. They cost far more than expansions ever did and you get much less for it.
