The blood elves, or sin'dorei ("Children of the Blood" in Thalassian), are a race composed of former high elves who renamed themselves in honor of their people that were killed during the siege of Quel'Thalas by the Scourge during the Third War. The blood elves of Azeroth have joined the Horde in the Burning Crusade expansion, seeking to reunite with Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider in Outland. They have since reclaimed their capital of Silvermoon City, situated in Eversong Woods. Blood elves are a desperate race who were once high elves. During the Third War, King Arthas’s Scourge sacked Quel’Thalas and shattered the elven race, slaying more than 90% of the high elven population. Prince Kael’thas Sunstrider was studying magic in Dalaran at the time of the disaster. When he heard what had happened, he quickly returned home and took command of the survivors. Kael’thas renamed them “blood elves” in honor of their fallen kin. Prior to the Sunwell’s destruction, all high elves everywhere were constantly bathed in its magical power. Now bereft of this arcane energy, the blood elves (and high elves) suffered. Kael’thas claimed that they would soon die without another magical source

After getting owned by the Nihilum guild over in Europe, it looks like Illidan wasn't prepared for Asia either. Word is out that China's The Seven guild has taken down Illidan Stormrage for a region first. An impressive feat made all the more interesting given that: 1) The raid party consisted mostly of Tier 3 gear, and 2) China's copy of Blizzard's World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade expansion was launched just this September. That gave the raid party around 8 weeks to hack their way through the quests leading up to this battle at the Black Temple. First kills aside, a quick look at the raid's loot hints they've got plenty of other reasons to celebrate. The Seven managed to bag the off-hand blade for the Twin Blades of Azzinoth set, the Shard of Azzinoth (dagger), and the Skull of Gul'dan (trinket) in this initial run. Drop by again in case we hear word of The Seven picking up the main-hand Azzinoth blade for (hopefuly) another region first. "The Chinese WoW guild 'The Seven' killed Illidan Stormrage last night (GMT+8). CWoW TBC was released on 6th Sept 2007. It only took them 52 days to clear all the PVE encounters and their rogue 'caomeiqingren'(strawberry lover) has got

Posted Oct 28th 2007 2:22PM by David Bowers Filed under: Patches, Analysis / Opinion, PvP, Leveling, Alts As you know, in patch 2.3, many of the previously ho-hum mid-level dungeon drops are set to actually become useful, worth the trip you make to go get them in the dungeon ( in most cases). Overall, this is a blessing for players everywhere, either starting out with their first characters, or leveling up long-forgotten alts. Twinks, however, are going to become a much greater nuisance than they were before. Some of their old items are going to be upgraded by default as the new patch comes in and the old items all around the world get replaced with the new. New twinks, however, will have the privilege of setting their sights on the best of the best items for their particular class and level bracket, putting an even further distance between them and other players who just want to enjoy a bit of PvP as they level up. This is particularly true with new low-level epics such as the Deadman's Hand which, at level 29, seems designed to be the pet dream of twinks everywhere, regardless of race or class. Does Blizzard intend to support twinking? And what's the whol

Posted Oct 28th 2007 4:44PM by David Bowers Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Odds and ends, Blizzard, News items While Robin and I think it's a great idea, some people are in an outcry about the upcoming name-change service that Blizzard is offering. As Monsoon tells Blizzard on the forums: This is probably the worst ever decision ever made. How are we supposed to track ninjas and retards who may apply to our guild if there is no way to track their name changes?" Nethaera calmly responds: Perhaps putting them on an ignore list might help. The ignore list will be automatically updated once that character's name change gets activated. Of course no system is fool proof, and there will always be someone looking to exploit things, but realistically, is it a terribly big problem if people you consider "ninjas" and "retards" yet are still unwilling to put on your ignore list can change their names once every 90 days? In my experience, the kind of person who likes to call others "retards" generally isn't very nice themselves, and tends to find new "retards" all the time (with no offense meant to Monsoon here). I don't think it would be possible, even if the

Posted Oct 25th 2007 6:30PM by Matthew Rossi Filed under: Patches, Analysis / Opinion, Leveling I was browsing the MMO-Champion list of gear changes in 2.3 when I noticed something odd. A lot of the changes to gear in 2.3 are welcome upgrades, especially in the lower level instances like Shadowfang Keep or Razorfen Kraul. But why, when changing loot in Blackrock Spire, did they change the Warmaster Leggings from tank to DPS pants? Whyarethree of the better paladin drops in Blackrock Depths being changed to generic DPS plate? It could be a sign of future thinking on the way Retribution Paladins are itemized, it could be intended towards leveling Death Knights (as is suggested in the comments), or there could be some other reason I'm not even remotely close to guessing. (Smarter folks than I suggest that this is just a case of gear that wasn't really good for paladins or warriors at that level getting brought more into line with other item budgets.) Some changes have clear goals - the Bloodmoon Cloak is clearly now aimed at casters. I've had two warriors that wore it for the stam it used to have, but that's clearly no longer going to be the case. Simila

Posted Oct 26th 2007 12:20AM by Robin Torres Filed under: Odds and ends, Blizzard, News items Blizzard has announced that they will change your character's name to an available, allowable name for $10 and I say, "It's about time!". This is an administrative service that should have been available from the beginning, in my opinion. Regardless, it's available now (on selected servers) and here are the rules: - It's $10 per name change.
- You can't change your name again for 90 days and your old name will be unavailable for 90 days as well.
- It has to be available on your server. Captain Obvious says, "Duh!".
- It will take a few hours while they approve your name change, since it must follow the Naming Policy.
- While the name change process takes place, your character will be unavailable.
- The name change is permanent unless you pay to change it again 90+ days later.
- This function is being rolled out in phases, a few servers at a time.
- Characters on your ignore list who have had their names changed will remain there with the new name. (Update:edited for clarity)
Blizzard has a FAQ page setup on their Support Site if you have more questions. If this is something that inte

Youth is not a time of life ;it is state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of hte will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life.
Youth means a tempera-mental predominance of courage over timidity,of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease. This often exists in a man of 60 more than a by of 20.Nobody grows old merely by a number of years. We grow old by deserting our ideals.
Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.Worry, fear, selfdistrust bows heart and turns the spring back to dust.
Whether 60 or 16,there is in every human being's heart the lureof wonder, the unfariling chidlike appetite of what's next and the joy of the game of living. In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless station:so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and from the Infinite,so long are you young.
When the aerials are down, and your spirit is covered with snows of cynicism and the ice of pessimism, then you are grown old, even at 20,but as long as your aerials are up,to catch waves of potimism, there is hop
