0 Digg it    IGE still owns Affinity Media according to Wandering Goblin, proof offered

Yes, that's right. IGE owns Affinity Media, not the other way around as they would lead you to believe. Even though I had received a copy of the document entitled "Restated Certificate of Incorporation of Affinity Media, INC.", Pig over at Wandering Goblin did as well, and he's written a very long and detailed account of some of the history and given details about the above mentioned document, which is a matter of public record:

After reading the Affinity Media stock documents, I couldn't help by feel that Affinity has been hiding quite a bit. In fact, I simply couldn't help but form the opinion that they've been simply lying. They're involved, via Itemmania, in gold-selling. It's not just an auction house, as they claimed. It's gold selling, and the company features prominently in Affinity's legal filings. What's worse, IGE is mentioned in virtually every business deal the document describes. They're involved with Yantis Enterprises, presumably the same company that allegedly bought IGE a couple of months ago. I'm not claiming to be an expert, a stockbroker, or a corporate lawyer, but this document doesn't make Affinity look good. It gives the impression that they've been flat-

0 Digg it    Starcraft 2 is coming!

The new game, as rumored, is Starcraft II.

Morhaime then introduces the lead designer of the project to discuss it--none other than former EALA designer Dustin Browder (who worked previously on The Battle for Middle-earth and Command & Conquer series). The video screen cuts to a demonstration that shows a fleet of Protoss ships that disembark several zealot infantry units, then cuts to a scene showing Terran transports touching down and becoming base structures, spouting infantry and vehicle units. Browder points out that this demonstration is in a very early stage of code. As we see in the demonstration, the new game will add abilities to existing units--the Protoss zealot, for instance, will now be able to charge into battle to quickly close the distance against Terran gunners. The Terrans retaliate by bringing in siege tanks to shell the Protoss from a distance. The Protoss respond by commissioning "Immortals"--heavy-duty tanks with powerful energy shields.

Blizzard's Mike Morhaime can't help but grin as Starcraft II is revealed.

The Terrans then commission reapers, medium infantry with jetpacks that can jump barriers to raid enemy bases more effectively. The reapers leap i

0 Digg it    USA Today calls out Sony: 'from top dog to underdog in record time'
  Views: 72  |  Category : Default |  Post time : Mar 20, 2007    Comments: 0  |  Bookmark

USA Today, who purports to have the widest circulation of any newspaper in the United States, published a story today discussing Sony's fall from an almost monopolistic first place with the PlayStation 2 to less-than-stellar sales with the PlayStation 3.

Drawing from the February NPD figures, writer Mike Snider places Sony in third place with 127,000 in PS3 unit sales, behind home consoles Xbox 360 (228,000) and Nintendo Wii (335,000). This is in addition to anecdotal evidence that the PlayStation 3 is easily available in stores while the Wii is still hard to find. Total Wii sales in the U.S. are estimated to 1.9 million while Sony has 1.1 million.

Newsweek's N'Gai Croal chimes in on reasons for Sony's ranking, including price, software lineup and negative press. Of course, early runnings mean nothing long-term, and the PlayStation 3 could easily pick up steam following release of heavy-hitting games, PS Home and a possible price drop. Still, when you got one of the biggest newspapers giving less-than-complimentary status reports it can't be good for business.
