Turbine has had a fairly busy year regarding Lord of the Rings Online, including their change to a free-to-play model from a subscription based model, their acquisition by Warner Bros. Studios, and, most recently their merger of NA and European servers. The developers aren’t stopping for breaks yet though. Turbine, Inc. today announced the launch of the latest update for players of DUNGEONS & DRAGONS ONLINE®: Stormreach® (DDO), The Way of the Monk. This major update to DDO introduces the first new playable class since launch, revamped adventure areas, more monsters, spells, magic items, and traditional dungeons to challenge.  DDO is a unique online roleplaying experience where players must use their combat skills and wits to survive dangerous dungeons, fiendish traps, and foes that punish the foolish.

Today, Turbine, Inc. and Codemasters Online announced the details of the first annual Harvest Festival in The Lord of the Rings Online™: Shadows of Angmar™. The Lord of the Rings Online is the second largest Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game* (MMORPG) and one of the largest Tolkien communities in the world. Beginning October 26th, players are invited to join the celebration of the harvest season in Middle-earth™.

"The Harvest Festival is the second of many seasonal events that we have planned for The Lord of the Rings Online," said Jeffrey Steefel, Executive Producer. "These festivals coupled with content updates demonstrate our commitment to delivering the best online experience for our subscribers through a fun, compelling and evolving game. LOTR Online Dev Turbine Appoints New CEO

 LOTR Online  Dev Turbine Appoints New CEOTurbine (Lord of the Rings Online, Asheron's Call)has announced the appointment of former m-Qube COO Jim Crowley as itsnew CEO, replacing long-standing officer Jeff Anderson, in a move thatfollows three new executive hires in early September.

No word was given from Turbine on the reasons for Anderson's departure,but the company did say "the move is one of many that Turbine hasrecently made to invest in new talent that will drive the next wave ofthe company's growth."

The quote refers to the aforementioned hiring,which saw Craig Alexander brought in as vice president of productdevelopment, Jerome Lalin as vice president of marketing and T.J.Marchetti as vice president of community and social media.

Turbine said that Crowley's time as the COO of m-Qube was instrumentalin turning the company"into one of North America's largest mobile mediacompanies." Previously, Crowley also served as COO of Network Plus,Inc., a telecommunications and data provider.

LOTR Online Dev Turbine Gets New CEO

Westwood, Massachusetts-based developer Turbine Studios, known most recently for PC MMO The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, announced a replacement for CEO Jeff Anderson today. Jim Crowley, former COO of mobile media company m-Qube, will take over as president and CEO of the company.

According to the announcement, Crowley had been working with Turbine on a long-term strategic plan for Shadows of Angmar for months before he officially came on board. The announcement gave no indication of former CEO Anderson's reason for leaving or his future plans.

Turbine also created the PC online titles Asheron's Call and Dungeons & Dragons Online: Stormreach.

LotRO updates and takes a trip to shores of Evendim

Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar is apparently the #1 selling PC game in North America, Germany, UK and France and they're about to give players a free content update. Book 9: Shores of Evendim is the first in the expected quarterly content updates. The content update will go live June 13, some features include:

    Discover Evendim, a region dominated by the Lake Nenuial, the 'Lake of the Twilight'. Amidst the ruins are powerful artifacts now threatened by evil creatures and the nefarious forces lurking in Angmar. What, you thought there would be cute puppies? Over 100 new quests Raid in the Battle for Helegrod, challenging the dragon Thorog in a 24-player raid in the Misty Mountains. Major updates to the music system, players can now utilize a new music notation system that enables them to compose music offline and upload it to your character in-game. Seven new sets of epic armor enable players to gain progressive bonuses for each piece of armor worn from a set.
