I’m not sure why, but the Sci-fi MMORPGs seems to be one of the most under developed genres. Heck, even consoles only have a handful of Sci-Fi MMORPGs. How come this genre isn’t getting any love? You’d imagine that it would have the most potential, as the universe is huge and getting bigger every day. The only notable free Sci-fi MMORPGs today are RF Online, Zero Online and Megaten and none of them are really ‘wow’ games. Heck, RF Online feels more of a fancy fantasy MMORPG than a Sci-Fi one. The ONLY good sci-fi MMORPG out there is Eve Online, and that’s unfortunately a pay to play game. I’m not sure why publishers keep embracing the fantasy genre, as it’s seriously getting old. I’m simply tired of the fantasy setting, as easily 80% of all free MMORPGs are fantasy themed.

If you’ve like me and enjoy Sci-Fi television shows like Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica, I’m sure you’re itching for a good sci-fi free MMORPG as well. Rf online Closed Beta Review

 

Before I start this this closed beta review i just wanna say something about RF Online. In my opinion this is the BEST game out there right now. I know your thinking its not better then WoW or whatever game your playing right now that you really like, but it is! I've played alot of MMO's these past few years and the only one I am happy with is Rf online. When i found out that the game was shutting down my face did this >=( . I'm glad this closed beta is now out. Now off to the review.

Above is the closed beta info for the game. There are a few thing i want to point out about this. While the x10 EXP looks great, its not that good. If you know anything about Rf online you know that the PT is more important in this game then the level. x10 EXP makes you level fast but you fall behind on PT and then cant equipt anything becuase you are behind on PT. The other thing is the "During test period, cash items can be purchased using gold." This seems cool but if you think about it, it's really not. 1 gold is equal to one credit, but in the game one gold is also 2k in game money for whate

I am very very very happy to say that rf online will now be back. It will be hosted by the creater company CCR. What this means is Rf will finally have some events. All the botters will be gone and there will be Way less gold farming webiste spammers. Here is a note from the website

Alright, I figure I’ve kept you waiting long enough. My test was successful by the looks of things.

A while ago I wrote this to try and make a point - that gamers want a good to hear a good story. Numerous people kept asking me when part two was going to be uploaded (I cheekily told them to wait, knowing full well there was actually no part two at all) because they wanted to see more.

I devised this little test based on a major grievance I have with MMO games. Do not misunderstand me, I mean every last MMO game in existence. There are no exclusions, no exceptions… nothing.
Every MMO I have ever played has failed to deliver any kind of immersive story-based experience whatsoever.  By now you’re probably bright red with rage and ready to throw whatever  potentially dangerous instrument you can find directly at my head, but allow me to explain further before you decide to severely injure me.

MMO’s have only ever been designed to kill time. Questing, grinding, questing, etc… all very repetitive, all designed to delay the players from reaching the end of an “open” game. If this process is followed as predicted by designers, then the

The massive amounts of F2P MMORPGs on the market today are

I’ve played countless free MMORPG games and I’ve noticed that almost every single one has something in common; garbage translations. Free MMORPGs released in the United States and Europe avoid this problem but it’s upsetting that so many good MMORPGs are plagued with poor translations. Games like Holic Online and RF Online would be a lot more fun in they had better translations, as both games try to incorporate some sort of plot within the game, but the broken English makes users want to skip it. When I played Holic Online, I would find myself trying to decipher the NPC dialogue, as it was so poorly worded.

The single best example of a game with poor translations is Magic World Online. There are so many things that got lost in translation that I don’t know where to begin. Two of the final job advancements for a Magician are called “Dragonbaking Master” and “Freezing Uranus”. What in the world is a Dragon Baking master? Is it supposed to be some sort of chef that specializes is preparing dragons? I can’t remotely fathom how that class title could at all be intimidating or even sensible.
