League of Legends Review
By: Zanpakutou in League of Legendsposted at 12:38 pm Dec 07,2011 - 1
I started playing League of Legends again recently and decided that I should write a review on it. I played DotA years ago on Warcraft 3, but have not touched it in a long time. I only started playing League of Legends because some of my friends play. Almost all of my games are Co-op vs AI, only a few of them are actually PvP.
Story:
N/A - The website says its an excuse for summoners (the player) to choose a champion to represent them in an arena style fight rather than screw over the world with destructive magic, but no one really cares.
Graphics:
The graphics are not that impressive. Many of the champions still look like something out of the Warcraft 3 era. The artwork that represent each of the characters on the menus in the game is excellent though. The thing I have to applaud them for is their diversity of champions. Many of them look extremely different from one another with the exception of themed skins which purposely makes a few of them look alike. The skil

Showtime Review
By: Zanpakutou in ShowTime Onlineposted at 11:56 am Oct 23,2011 - 0
It is another dance game. I know this is a "CB" review, but anyone can sign up and play. The only difference is you get some free IM cash that will eventually be wiped.
Story:
N/A - It's a dance game. Get through the tutorial and just get moving.
Graphics:
The graphics are fairly good. It aims for a cartoon look and manages to avoid clipping and jagged lines that are present in many other dance games. The backgrounds on the other hand are rather bland with only a selection of 4 places to dance from. The clothing is fairly nice with lots of details and different styles. The lyrics of the song appear at the bottom of the screen which is unique. Other than the poor background, it is pretty nice. Even the interface tries to be different from other games giving it quite a different feel.
Gameplay:
The game is simple. Create a character (male or female), name them, and get into the game. You can create a room or join a room. The only ones available at the time are eith

I hate gender locking. Am I alone in this?
By: Zevri in defaultposted at 4:57 pm Jun 26,2011Tags: gender locking discussion mmo game gender locking rant

Okay, hate may be a bit of a strong word to use, I extremely dislike it. That or games that have extremely limited choices in character customization. You could call it a pet peeve of mine, if you wish since if you read any of my first impression or review articles, you would notice when games have it, I tend to write a paragraph or so just on that subject. Am I the only one really bothered by this?
Gender locking classes to me, feels like the developers were a bit lazy, or not serious enough about the game to have the options in place. Some of them use the excuse that the gender locks are "characters in a story". But if you can edit their looks, why not their gender? They give them their own unique names in some cases, which does seem odd to me since it is like tr

More Complains About Repetitiveness - Rant!!!!!!!!!
By: Pelagato in defaultposted at 5:54 pm Jan 03,2011 - 3

Hey peeps, today I am a bit fed up, I was playing DC Universe and reading something about the game over the internet... this includes mmosite but its not limited to this site alone.... and everything I notice all over the place is a bunch of spoiled brats... thats right the same human pre adults who believe that they know better....
I dont know if they do this to annoy other people or they are simply moronic or inmature... but almost everytime I think they do this simply to annoy other people... If that is the case then the whole gaming community is full of Trolls all over the place... How many Trolls do we have on the internet... I dont know, maybe only 2% of the gaming community can be considered Trolls or maybe 80% are Trolls... Who knows!!!! I rather think that only a few

Talesweaver Review (Open Beta)
By: Zanpakutou in defaultposted at 2:08 pm Nov 17,2010 - 0
So, a long time ago, Korea came up with a game called Talesweaver. Finally, in the Fall of 2010, they decided to translate the game into English. Unfortunately, the servers are located in Korea still which causes some problems. Its being hosted by gamengame open beta but its still fairly unstable.
Website: http://tales.gamengame.com/
Story:
For some reason villages are facing increasingly more aggressive monsters. No one knows why.
Graphics:
This game is old. It uses 2D sprites with a 3D background. Provided that you aren't playing full screen, the graphics are still fairly nice. Stretching the screen really makes the game show its age but other than that its still fairly decent. Another problem is that most characters look very similar so everyone practically looks the same. If you want different looks, you have to get some high level head equipment and some item mall stuff which is not released in this version yet.
Gameplay:
The game starts off with you choosing a base character. Each

RF (Rising Force) Online Review
By: Zanpakutou in RF Onlineposted at 4:47 pm May 01,2010 - 0
Unlike many of the other games I've played, RF is one of the few PvP games that I have enjoyed for a while. Its been out for a while now and its one of those games that people either love it or hate it. There's rarely a middle ground on the decisions of players for this game.
Story:
The backstory is available online. The only thing you really need to know is that the 3 races (Accretion, Bellato, Cora) are all suppose to be different evolutions of human. If you want a more simple explanation, Accretions are the tough melee that suck with magic, Bellato are space dwarfs/rangers, and Cora are the space elves.
Graphics:
There is not much area for customization in the game. There's only a few hair and face styles to choose from. Most players around the same level wear similar armor. The enemies don't have much of a variety at first but it improves later on assuming you last long enough to get there.
Gameplay:
The game itself begins with you picking one of the 3 races. Each account

Dragonica Online Review
By: Zanpakutou in Dragonicaposted at 6:04 am May 18,2009 - 0
Dragonica is another attempt at an action based MMORPG. I guess the closest relation to this game would be Maple Story. It seems to be like that more than any other. The primary difference is that the characters and backgrounds are in 3D instead of 2D. Other than that it is very similar to the other Maple Story and LaTale and any other clones of that genre you want to associate with it.
Story:
Introduction to magical world by some floating blue fairy thing. Wolves attack a village and you are forced to defend it.
Graphics:
The graphics is trying to convey a unique style of super deformed characters and a 3D background yet still trying to keep the game as the side scrolling action game. The skill effects are fairly simple and the most complex effects are at the portals. Characters are fairly bland and share the same equipment for many levels. It isn't until you reach the job change that characters start becoming more diverse in looks. Otherwise everyone looks like the same person with a different hair style attached to them.
Gameplay:
Character creation is simple. All you need is a name, one of 4 basic classes, a hair style, and a face you will almost never see. The hair style and hair

RE: 7 J-RPG Hates
By: Zanpakutou in defaultposted at 7:28 am Feb 05,2009 - 3
from the article http://www.oxm.co.uk/article.php?id=8166%3Fcid

1) Stop with the kid characters joining your party.
Adults are important, but kids are important as well. They explained before there's a reason why J-RPG characters tend to be teenagers. The reason is that these people are still in development and their thinking can change. Adults have a fixed way of thinking and usually will not listen to what others have to say because they hold to strong onto their beliefs. Kids also provide different viewpoints because there are things that only kids can think of and some things that only kids can do. One of the traditions in J-RPGs is that adults are ALWAYS the cause of the events of the game being set into motion. Its always a mistake and misjudgment on their part that leads to the kids having to take action in the first place. Don't want kid heroes? Don't have adult screw ups. There are cases where the kids accidentally awaken the ultimate evil, but that's normally in horror movies and some 10 year old RPGs. But if you have kids screwing up, you can have adults coming in to fix it.

2) Villains have to be cool.
Villains don't need to be cool. I don't care if the villain of the

Nurien Review
By: Zanpakutou in defaultposted at 5:56 am Oct 01,2008 - 1

Nurien is a new game that just came out a few days ago. Its a dancing game that uses the Unreal 3 engine and could be considered the next generation of dancing games. There's a few pictures of it in my game album. The quality of the pictures were lowered because I had to convert it from BMP to JPEG otherwise they would have been 2+ MB each. I had to censor the names because the game uses REAL NAMES. Not your screen name. If you're interested in looking for videos, the official site has some.

Story:
N/A – I haven't figured out if there is any story. So far there's only been the tutorial mission and all you do is basically learn the steps to play.

Graphics:
The graphics in this game are very nice, but as a result, you need a pretty high spec system to be able to play the game. You can adjust your character's facial structure, but the entire character design is based on just dragging some things around so its very difficult to change the face to exactly something because some combinations just aren't possible. The real graphics are when you are dancing with other people. There are few effects, but the char

A Girl Gamer Rant: Thou Shall Game
By: cozplayer in defaultposted at 11:57 pm Sep 09,2008 - 5
Author: LadyLuck

Girls in Gaming. It's great. I love seeing more and more females joining up in a male dominated area. But lately I've also seen many girls that are giving the rest of us a bad name.
There are too many females that are joining the gaming community to talk about women's rights. But during a game is not the place for it. Nobody wants to be hassled with that during a game. People get online to play, not to argue about whether a game is politically correct or how a female character is giving a bad image to women. Don't get me wrong, I believe women have rights and should have the right to express them. But do it in an appropriate place.
Another area I have noticed is what I call the "Popularity Girl Gamer". She is a girl that wants attention. She has a pretty face, but is not really a gamer. She calls herself a gamer just for the attention she will get. No other reason. A great example of this is when I was at work. This girl came in with a group of guys, and was talking about how she loved gaming and being a gamer. How she couldn't wait to get a new game. So I went over and was trying to help her. In the end she said she had an Xbox 3 and that she wan
