Why I Think Exclusiveness Hurts the Game Industry and More on Demographics

So one of the big selling points of various consoles is that they are selling games that can only be obtained on a specific console. If you want that game, you have to buy their console. However, I think that this is the wrong move to take in the long run. By making a game only available on one console, you block out potential customers. While making a game available on multiple consoles ups the development cost, I believe that it can be more profitable for many developers in the long run because of the number of units they have sold overall. The console with the most number of units sold means that they are also the ones with the largest consumer base and means that odds are most people will buy it. You still need to consider the demographic of the people who own a specific console. Failure to recognize these things hurts the gaming industry in the long run. There must also be minor differences between the different versions of the game. Overall, they will be quite similar unles

Why Gaming Conventions Catering to Men Might Not Be Such a Bad Thing
By: Lushy in defaultposted at 12:45 am Jun 19,2012 - 0
Earlier this evening, I was surprised when I got on Twitter to see several gamers, both men and women, retweeting up a story about a woman who felt as if she was treated badly at E3 from sexist stereotypes. She mentioned how she was sitting down to play a first-person shooter demo and was asked not only if she played games at all, but if she even played first-person shooters. Insulted, she said she did and tried her hands at it. After a moment, the representative for the game spoke in a teasing matter and took the keyboard from her, saying it would be better if he played it himself.
Immediately, she felt as is she had been targeted for being a woman in a gaming convention that's catered to men. That he didn't believe she was capable of playing for herself since she is, in fact, a woman. Attending E3 this year myself, I found her claims to be a little too conveniently tossed into the sexist category. In the second half of her article, she questions if she ha

Ohoho, we're not done yet. You see, I love my fans so much that I'm not about to JUST give them something that every other website gets. You guys get the premier package. The works. The cream of the crop. You guys are getting hands-on coverage that no one else has. And I'm doing it because I love you, and because EverQuest's 18th expansion, Veil of Alaris, is just that flippin' awesome. Unlike readers of every other video game website out there that's covering this monumentous milestone, you guys are going to get info on three other brand new zones, a new feature that I can't believe nobody's talked about yet, and several dozen screenshots -- some of which you won't find anywhere else, because I got them on request.
Quite frankly, the new zones that I requested
