Kaboom!

OMG!!!!! I am kinda shocked... Today I launched EVE after playing way too much swtor and I notice that CCP is finally going to release the eve launcher... A special tool (kinda common this days around the mmo market), that will update your friggin client before launching the game, so you dont have to launch the game, login then close down the whole smack in order to add a patch then launch the game again and log back in again!...

I dont really think that is such a big deal to open the client and log in twice when you need to patch I dont even mind writing my password 10 times in one day lol!!! But it looks like some people dont really like the idea or CCP dont want to look bad because everyone else have a launcher in their game and they also want one...

One thing is for sure, the launch

Why EVE Online is Boring!

When it comes down to Sci Fiction, I think EVE is simply outdated in terms of what the future holds in space travel.

Richard Garriott (Creator of Ultima and Ultima Online, one of the first popular MMOs in the 90s) has even taken the time to go into space for a holiday. Space Travel is just around the corner as some company in Europe currently finding a spaceport to build to set off tourists into space!

What happened to NASA Online? Why isn't that released to bash EVE Online?

I think Ace Online is another game that is out of it's depth. Ace Online inspired by 90s mecha and space animes from Japan and made by a Korean company and it's still alive in 2012. I think it's great that it can hold thousands of players but I don't think it's will allow players to experience

Hey peeps... EVE Online have been a niche game for a lot of time, the game is successful and keep growing slowly each year... I think CCP is one of the most dedicated developers out there... or at least they used to be...

Recently with the addition of the NeX cashshop and the release of the "Greed is good.pdf"... It looks like this company is no longer the friendly developer they used to be...

After reading the document, I realize that CCP possibly have an economical and financial necessity, unfortunately it looks like they want to force the player base into agreeing with their needs and business model. Look what happend with APB and RTW, they had certain economical needs and the community didnt gave a damn about it...

Unfortunately for them, people dont take kindy when you have

EVE Online Offers ISK Donations To Japan Disaster Relief

EVE Online enthusiasts will be able to contribute to disaster relief for Japan via game-based transactions. Over on the game’s official blog, developer CCP Games has announced that it will be accepting PLEX donations for “PLEX for Good: Japan,” an initiative that turns game time into real-world cash which is then donated, in this specific case, to the Red Cross. According to CCP’s FAQ, the developer will be absorbing all VAT charges, so the full amount of a donation goes to the charity.

I didn’t know what PLEX was until a few minutes ago, so I’m guessing a couple of you reading this are scratching your heads, too. In a nutshell, PLEX is a game-time card that adds a total of 30 days of EVE Online service to an account. These virtual cards can be traded in-

CCP focusing on DirectX 9 optimization, DirectX 10 support in EVE Online put on backburner

Posted Oct 16, 2007 at 01:22PM by Karl B.Listed in: News, Eve OnlineTags: Microsoft, DirectXEVE Online - Image 1Those waiting for DirectX 10 support in EVE Online will have to wait a little while longer. According to Shacknews, CCP has put adding DirectX 10 support on the backburner.

This was apparently done so the company could focus on optimizing DirectX 9 support. Another reason is an upcoming upgrade that will reportedly add normal and specular mapping as well as other graphical features to EVE Online.

DirectX 10 is the latest available version of Microsoft's application programming interfaces for use in multimedia-related tasks. An incremental update, Direct X 10.1, is expected in January 2008.

No game has recreated the vast loneliness of outer space better than CCP Game's EVE Online. Now, thanks to a partnership with TransGaming Inc., the universe is about to get a lot less lonely as Mac and Linux users will be able to log in and shoot mining lasers at floating rocks endlessly by the end of this year. TransGaming is a company that specializes in portability products that allow for games to be ported across multiple platforms without having to redevelop.

"We're pleased to extend our relationship with TransGaming, as the company's expertise allows us to deliver the most innovative MMOG to more platforms," said Halldor Fannar, CTO of CCP Games. "By integrating TransGaming's excellent technology, we are able to keep our laser-focus on evolving EVE Online, while simultaneously expanding the EVE universe to even more players."
While Linux users can already play EVE using Cedega, the game will now be released the Windows to Linux converter built in. The Mac version will utilize the Cider portability engine. I just hope this doesn't ultimately result in less rocks for me to shoot at.

Next-Gen: You guys went out on a limb not making a swords and sorcery game. Why?

Raynir Hardarson: You need a vision or a spark that builds itself gradually and naturally into a flame. The excitement of doing something new and stretching the boundaries generally catapults ideas further than substitute systems that have already gone through development in numerous games and become holy cows. Take space combat for example. The physics involved and implemented into the targeting speed and accuracy of the weapons is pretty much unique in an MMO. Being different can be an advantage – generally, it is – but aiming for that specifically does not help you to create a good game. It’s just a means to an end and has nothing directly to do with the goal and the vision.

Eve is a game known for its strong economy. How do you successfully balance an economy in an MMO?

Our experience has been that the hardest things to balance are our own intrusions into the player economy through non-player characters. The more we stay out of things, and build systems for players to use where they define the value of their time, effort, utility, scarcity and other contributing factors to the trade value of items, th

I missed this one earlier in the week - Ten Ton Hammer have posted a Revelations II interview with Magnus Bergsson, CMO of CCP Games:

Ten Ton Hammer: Before we get started with the Revelations 2 questions, would you mind commenting on the situation with the GoonSwarm and how that whole situation occurred? There have been a large number of media outlets following the story, so I though it best to ask the question up front, so we can move on to more important matters.

Magnus: The allegations have basically been proven false. We need to clarify exactly why this is happening from their end and so forth, and that’s best done in a statement so that nothing gets misquoted. They enjoy this obviously; now we just have to deal with it. We have a very open dialogue with our players, and this is one of the results of that. This is a game people take seriously, and some people take it a little too far.

I think that some people forget that this is just a game. Basically, there is nothing like this going on at CCP, and I think that goes without saying. They have people that might have a desire to hurt us, and then they have people that believe everything that is said about the game. Percept
