P2P Isn't Dead, Your Game Just Sucks
By: Zanpakutou in defaultposted at 3:41 pm May 24,2012 - 3

This is a reply to this article http://www.joystiq.com/2012/05/23/analyst-estimates-amalur-ip-worth-20-million-38-studios-employ/
One thing I have to say is that P2P gaming is not dead. It has not been dead nor will it ever be. The problem with P2P gaming nowadays is that it has to compete with other services that often offer a better deal. The Xbox Live and Playstation Network services basically offer you a full year of online play for all your games and it only costs $50. On the other hand, playing just a single MMO will cost you $15 a month most of the time. You also need to buy the game first, which is another $50 or so just to even get started. If you compare a pay to play MMO to any sort of other game, it is far more expensive even when you factor in buying a console

Dead MMO: How Do We Move On?
By: MapleTire in defaultposted at 2:50 am Feb 12,2012Tags: mmo graveyard dead moving on

Back to the MMO graveyard we go. MMO Graveyard, a popular term that beens formed by US, the MMO Community! Even video games that came on CDs or DVDs don't get a graveyard, they get resolded!
There something interest that happens on the internet and that is that we move on from MMO that get losted in cyberspace.
I would say there was a time when I was dowloading clients like crazy, just to try them and would just forget about them. Sometimes there would be MMO that would capture my attention and I would move away from other MMOs because the MMO I'm playing would be better then those MMOs.
When I look back, I noticed that it gets losted in cyberspace and these new MMOs get released.
I think it's interestig because there some MMOs that are so BAD that people just forget about them and I wonder

By: garik12 in defaultposted at 1:28 pm May 21,2010 - 6

Being a team player in co-op blows. Reviving fallen partners, sharing your ammo with them, watching their back like a creepy online stalker. Balls to that, we say. That's why we're unofficially starting a official campaign to teach and celebrate the ways of acting like a douche in co-op. Follow these steps wise readers, and soon you too can be ruining everyone's fun and being that guy. Dicks of co-op: we salute your despicable, titanic testes.
Do a Leeroy Jenkins
May almighty Jebus look down upon and protect Mr. and Mrs. Leeroy Jenkins senior, for they are responsible for spawning the greatest gamer in the history of humanity. R.I.P Michael Jackson: 1958-2009

Rest in Peace Michael

Michael Jackson has died. After going into cardiac arrest at his home in Holmby Hills Michael lost his pulse. Paramedics were unable to resuscitate him and close sources have said he was already dead by the time they came. When he arrived at the hospital he was pronounced dead. His sister Latoya was unable to talk to her brother while she ran into the hospital. Its been reported that the hospital was in complete chaos with people screaming "You've got to save him".
While I was not a huge fan of Michael Jackson personally, I do enjoy several of his songs. I'm really shocked that he died at 50, when the average age of death in the US is 75. The combination of stress and self destructive habits (extreme plastic surgery) is what I believe cut Michael's life short. He will be remembered and may he rest in peace.

Video gamer who killed mother sentenced 23 years to life
By: Hyuk in defaultposted at 12:44 am Jun 18,2009 - 1

This guy, Daniel Petric shot his mother dead and wounded his father over a popular video game halo3 in last year, the reason he did this was because the parents took away the game from him. According to Fox 8 News Reporter yesterday morning the teen was sentenced, finally, 23 years to life.
Seems he doesn't deserve the hell ...Anyway here was the news report.
I hope you have noticed the declaims of the Defense attorneys (the following quotes)
Defense attorneys argued that Petric's youth and addiction to the game "Halo 3" made him less responsible for the shooting. They say he often played video games 18 hours a day with little food or sleep. They say he may have been so obsessed with the game, where players shoot alien monsters that have taken over the Earth, that he didn't think death was real.
"The playing of the video games and the reality of shooting somebody in his case was blinded, it was merged," defense attorney James Kersey told the court. "He had no thoughts during this process. During this time, he was blinded that his parents might be dead, that they might never come back."
"His addiction was so strong, was running ra

Dead Frontier
By: stranger2020 in defaultposted at 4:27 am Apr 28,2008 - 2
Undeniably the living dead, specifically zombies, have played a major part in the construction and continuation of the horror genre and have influenced countless novels, movies and in recent years, videogames. Though beginning much earlier, one of the most memorable of such games was of course Resident Evil. However, unlike other one hit wonders and novel concepts, Resident Evil went on to enjoy a number of sequels and a trilogy of rather impressive action flicks, starring many flesh devouring fiends. But please, don’t let me make you think that it ends there, because it surely has not. Nevertheless, it was only a matter of time before the zombie concept was manipulated and formed into something of an online game.
Though I’m sure many of you know what I’m talking about by now, for those that don’t I am of course talking about the new online, flash based game, Dead Frontier, which, all things considered, is not bad at all and can actually give you a fair bit of fun, especially for those of you who enjoyed old-school top down RPGs such as boulders gate.

Essentially, the game sees you, as the player, thrust into the role of a lone individual who has survived a terrible onslaught and no

Man Dead After Marathon Gaming Session
Posted September 18th, 2007 by Aelryn
Gird yourselves for the inevitable media onslaught brought on by one man's stupidity.
A gamer in China collapsed at his terminal in an internet cafe earlier this week, after an excessive gaming binge, proving once and for all that those "Take a Break" warnings in games really do improved your survival chances.
BEIJING – A man in southern China appears to have died of exhaustion after a three-day Internet gaming binge, state media said Monday.
The 30-year-old man fainted at a cybercafe in the city of Guangzhou on Saturday afternoon after he ha been playing games online for three days, the Beijing News reported.
Paramedics tried to revive him but failed and he was declared dead at the cafe, it said. The paper said that he may have died from exhaustion brought on by too many hours on the Internet.
The report did not say what the man, whose name was not given, was playing.
The report said that about 100 other Web surfers "left the cafe in fear after witnessing the man's death.''

ArchLord not dead, says Codies
By: Brotherbird in defaultposted at 2:03 am Jul 18,2007 - 0
Codemasters Online Gaming has responded to claims that MMO ArchLord is dying out by saying its population has grown since launch and "still increases week on week".
But when pushed to reveal numbers for the amount of people currently playing, it coyly replied that that wasn't the trend in the genrse.
"Unfortunately we are not in a position to release current subscriber numbers," a spokesperson for Codemasters Online Gaming told Eurogamer. "As with any MMO, publishers never release that information. Unless, of course, you are Blizzard and have over 8 million subscribers." Or Ankama Games with Dofus.
Questions arose over ArchLord's future after the publisher announced that it would be offering 6000 free in-game credits with every copy sold. These can buy you levelling aids in the Chantra Shop, where you would otherwise use real money to purchase goods.
Previous efforts to drive attention to the game have seen a subscription system come and go, and the price of the game slashed to around a tenner depending on which part of the world you're in.
But far from pull support, Codemasters is insistent that future content is on the schedule - the first thing being upcoming free expansion Episode
