I'm doing this review first while the Warlord is still hot from the event. To obtain the Warlord, you need to collect 50 Poem Piece, 25 Refined Orb Fragment, and 5 Essence of War from Thief Acong. Thief Acong are located outside Shanghai, Jakarta, Rome, Berlin, and New York. Use quest craft to create Khun Phaen's Poem and turn it into the Guide Acong in Rome for a Khun Phaen's Starter Kit. This item will allow you to choose betwen Khun Phaen's Carrier Pigeon (recruitment item), a title (10% atk, 10% def, 2% exp for 60 minutes), a book box (choice between 15 of the I skill books), 4 Warlord Upgrade Crystal (Event), or 2 Warlord Upgrade Jewel (Event). The upgrades in order needs 5 Crystals, 10 Crystals, 2 Jewels, 4 Jewels, and 6 Jewels.

Might as well finish this one up while the servers are still down for maintenance. I might get around to the main characters after I finish all the mercenaries. Main characters have their own set of skills as well.

The Witch is a Staff type mercenary that comes with a variety of skills. Like all Staff type mercenaries, she has high intelligence and magic defense, but  rather low amount of HP. To date she remains the only mercenary that is considered to be flying. This means that she cannot be hit by standard melee attacks, but enemies can also run past her to hit the mercenary behind her. She has a lot of MP control skills such as Mana Dragin which depletes the enemy's MP in addition to causing some damage, Mana Recharge which restores MP for a row of your own mercenaries, and M

Atlantica Online Mercenary Review: Swordsman

Since Raenemeiko reviewed the Witch, I was wondering when she would get around to the rest. From the looks of it though, it isn't going to happen. I will begin to review the mercenaries in order of introduction (Swordsman, Spearman, Archer, Gunner are the first). The rest will be reviewed according to the level at which they can be obtained. The exception to this is Carmille (Vampire) and Christine (Sheriff). I will review them when I get to the level 100+ mercenaries. The stats I will use as the basis for comparison will be the level 130 stats.

The Swordsman is one of the four D grade mercenaries in Atlantica Online. They have very high defense and hp. They have high str, but their swords do not provide a high damage boost. However, swords boost vitality and magic levels

It has been about 5 months since I last posted anything in my blog, so here is another article :D

I joined Atlantica Online in the end of July 2009 (I think it was 27th or 28th). The first month was very interesting because of an event which involved keys. If you stayed logged in for an hour, you got a key which you needed to use in order to open a box on the website to get some random item. Maximum number of keys you could get each day was 3 I think. And I have to say the event was the best event I ever saw in the game. Everything that came later was just... greedy. Even the 2010 summer event which was almost a copy of the 2009 event, was bad. You received 1 key after the first hour and then a key shard every hour for 3 hours. 2 key shards could be crafted into a key and everything else was the same as before, except the rewards: the best items to receive got better and much more rare. All other items got worse than it could be imagined - the scrolls which came in hundreds last t

Jongpil Jung: How I Saved Atlantica!

There is always a great deal to learn from a game that has achieved considerable success, like the story told by Blizzard at the China Game Developers Conference (CGDC); however, there is also a lot to be learned from a failed game, especially one which was doomed to fail yet successfully saved. Though people may be reluctant to tell about their mistakes and failures, these stories are no less instructive and interesting for the industry than the successful ones, particularly about how we can magically turn a failure into success. This is maybe why the speech made at the Second CGDC by Jongpil Jung, Overall PD and Technical Art Director of NDOORS, was so popular! He told about the story of Atlantica.NDOORS used to develop 2D games only. However, as 3D games were gaining popularity among the players, the company started thinking of producing one of them. The problem at that time was, the development team already in place was made up of 2D game developers. Can they successfully and easily switch to 3D? They did consider firing the old team and establishing a new 3D team but finally decided against it, as they believed that every developer at the company would qualify for the future w

See this? This is STAMINA.

Get used to it because it’s going to be in just about every MMO available… or every F2P at least.

There’s been a huge amount of debate around the stamina issue for Atlantica, with the vast majority of people calling for a boycott of the game if the stamina system is not removed. But I suppose you wanna know what stamina is, right?

For the uninitiated, stamina is a system that limits players to 100 random battles per day (reduced to 50 once the player passes level 50). 100 stamina is offered from the beginning of the game and one point removed for each battle the player is in. Once the stamina counter reaches zero the player receives no experience points or items from any further battles. Stamina resets once every 2

Don't forget to Digg if you like it!

"The lost city of Atlantis is still lost - will you be the one to find it?"

Turn based battle – my favourite style of battle, has been on the decline for a few years now. In reality it hasn't really been the popular choice since the days of the SNES, but some games still employed the system and in most cases successfully. Take the juggernaught Final Fantasy Series, who until recently have always used an imaginative turn-based battle system, and thanks to it has retained a loyal fan base for over 20 years. This was up until FFXII (Final Fantasy 12); in FFXII they decided to change the fighting system from turn based to a new kind of action system. For some, this was a refreshing new look at a perhaps dated system, for others like myself this prevented them from playing the game for much more than a few days.

At the time I was devastated, I never expected the FF series to change from turn-based battles, in every addition to the series they changed characters, magic's, worlds, styles and systems, but they never changed the from turn based battles. Why now? Well, eventually I found that a proper turn-based system just wasn't good enough anymore and they wanted somethi

Atlantica Closed Beta Announced for July

Atlantica Online from Ndoors Interactive will be launching their closed beta this July. The game will take players through several ancient civilizations, though strangely not through Atlantis itself. (Perhaps we're talking after the fall of Atlantis.) It seeks to distinguish itself with a unique combat and city/country management systems, and turn-based combat in an MMO certainly sounds unique!

Specifically designed to set itself apart from other MMOs with its unique combat, mercenary, and city/country management systems, Atlantica takes players through ancient settings and civilizations, such as Hanyang (Korea), Indus Valley (India and Pakistan), Mesopotamia (Iraq, Syria and Turkey), and Egypt.

The turn-based combat system allows players to plot the movements and strategies of nine characters in their group. Players can form teams of three to bring 27 controllable characters into combat.
