ArcheAge Alpha: The Road So Far (Level 1 - 20)

Now let me start of by saying that this isn’t a “Full” review but a reasonably large “half” review. I’ll be contributing my experiences of ArcheAge from levels 1 – 20. All statements are based on my own experiences and opinions, you may experience things differently. However I have had a lot of experience with MMORPG’s so hopefully this review can give you a better insight on what’s going on in the Alpha stages of ArcheAge.

The Beginning

I started off by downloading the client from the ArcheAge website after logging into glyph, you can do this by either receiving an Alpha key which is extremely rare now or you can buy the $150 Arceum Package which gives you Alpha access. The game client itself was about 23.3Gigabytes of data and

Association for the Advancement of Teens Against Age Barriers or AATAAB. AATAAB is a group i'm making for teens (and sometimes younger) who are having any of the following happen:

1. Talked down to by adults.

2. Treated unfairly.

3. Made out to seem "Stupid".

4. Feel like they have lost rights.

5. and so on. (more to come)

I'm 16 yr old with an IQ of around 140-150 (last time i checked). I on a regular basis feel as if I am treated unfairly because i'm not "old enough to be taken seriously". Just because i'm not 21 or whatever, does not mean i am stupid and/or don't know what is going on in life, etc. I have seen 30-40 yr olds that are just FKing stupid, that are doing things like acting immature in public or "goofing off" at work, acting/being racist, and the list goes on. and these ppl get treated like its nothing (not in all cases) because they are "old enough" to do shit their own way. So because they are older they are smarter? WTF PPL! I on the other hand do things like acting very mature in public, well i don't have a job yet so "pass" that one, not being racist, etc. and i get FKing yelled at by adults, saying shi

No More Fantasy MMORPGs Please!

Developers need to start turning on their creativity switches and start to move away from the generic fantasy MMO theme. There’s nothing wrong with fantasy games, but that particular market is so incredibly saturated now. As an avid MMORPG gamer I want to see new games that aren’t fantasy themed. Believe me; I’ve slain enough Orcs for two lifetimes. Games like Neosteam and Age of Armor are both breaths of fresh air in the realm of MMORPGs. I’m not claiming that Neosteam and Age of Armor are great games, but they’re at least something different.

Neosteam is a “steampunk” themed MMORPG. Steampunk may be a genre you haven’t heard of before, but in simple terms, it means a mix of sci-fi and fantasy, usually featuring large steam powered buildings / robots. Neosteam isn’t exactly a unique concept, as it plays like every other MMORPG, but the game does change the environment around, and that’s definitely a welcomed change. Another interesting game that I’ve recently played was RF Online. T

The Gaming Age

It has come to my attention that my previous theories on the average age of 'hardcore gamers' might be shot dead. I use to believe that these 'hardcore gamers' were all just about preteen/adolescent males seeking cyber glory through virtual blood, winches, and digital conquering through superiority of gear and battle. Sadly, I hate to say that it's more of men my own age, in their 20's, that thrive in the MMO community with obsessive playing, PWN-menship, and L337-ness.

I always assumed it was the younger, playing games such as RO (where playing a female avatar got you all sorts of perks, free loot, and stalkers) and any games where boobs wiggle, females are mostly naked, there is a heavy PVP system where in-game bragging rights are next to Godliness. It saddens me when I see articles of new posted about 25 year old men eloping with 14 year old girls they met in game and most of my gender up in arms because the boobs shrank on their favorite internet stimuli.

Not to mention, I find the idea of internet love completely naive and only assume that hapless teenagers are the only ones that find comfort in such a ridiculous notion.

I'm only 22 and an avid player, but am I just behind

AGDC 07: Age of Conan Interview with Jørgen Tharaldsen

Funcom's Jørgen Tharaldsen came to AGDC with the glow of three Best of Show awards from the recent game convention in Leipzig, Germany still fresh in his eyes. There, for the first time at a public game show, players were able to line up and actually play Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures. In Austin, Tharaldsen told us about the new PvP features, siege gameplay and their mature slant.

Age of Conan features four brands of player vs. player combat: duels, arena combat, drunken brawling and siege warfare. The first two are likely relatively familiar to fans of the genre, while the second new, are innovations unique to Age of Conan.

The biggest part of their PvP solution is siege warfare. This is where guild warfare happens. Guilds can build cities throughout the area of three kinds: Battlekeeps are the largest, with a limit of nine in existence per server at one time, Forts are the middle ground and there can be 15 at any moment, and finally resource patches are available to a lucky 18 guilds. What happens if they've all been built and a new guild wants one? Well, they have to first destroy one that an opposing guild owns.

Inside each plot there are a variety of spaces where the guild c

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning Interview

Warcry has conducted an interview with EA Mythic's Richard Duffek, quizzing the community coordinator about a variety of topics related to Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning.

Q: The tabletop game allows you to customize your units color, look and equipment. We know as you level your look will change. Can you talk about some of the options you have to capture the imaginations of those who loved painting their miniatures in terms of character customization?

A: While there will indeed be a lot of freedom in the actual character creation, much of the customization will come while you're actually playing the character. The trophy slots on your character are probably the best example. All throughout the game you will find various trophies that you can hang off of your character in many different manners. They will be purely cosmetic, only there so you can personalize how you want your character to look. Want a dwarf skull hanging from your belt? You can do that. Want some dragon teeth mounted on your shoulder? Sure. We understand how important individuality and customization is to the average MMO player and are definitely striving to provide as much of it as we can in WAR.
