News From the Front: Advance on Altdorf
"General Klunst, Count von Rendt," called the messenger, while looking back fearfully in the direction of the east. "I bring grim tidings. The regiments holding the crossings of the Lynsk have been defeated. The enemy has brought up additional Hellcannons, and our lines have been broken by them."
Instead of waiting for General Klunst to respond, the messenger spurred his horse and galloped westward out of the city, as if it were the only sane thing to do.
Klunst was beside himself with fury.
"Your Honor," Klunst said to the Count, "What did he mean, 'the regiments holding the crossings of the Lynsk'? I ordered our last two intact regiments to hold the center of town, not be exposed at the river."
Count von Rendt fanned himself. "I felt those orders to be rubbish. I sent our soldiers to make a manly defense of the Lynsk bridges, not cower behind piles of rubble in the city center."
"You ignorant snivelard," Klunst grated. "You've squandered your entire army getting to Praag, and now you've squandered mine!"
"The bridges should be held, Gen

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning : Aussie Prep for WAR
By: odimok in Warhammer Onlineposted at 7:25 pm May 18,2008 - 0
It seems that North America and Europe won't be the only ones to enjoy the RvR goodness this Fall when Warhammer Online launches. Today, the company announced that Australia, New Zeland and parts of Southeast Asia will see a simultaneous launch as well.
Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that Warhammer® Online: Age of Reckoning™ (WAR) will ship in Australia, New Zealand and Southeast Asia simultaneously with the North American and European Fall 2008 release.
In addition, WAR will also feature a dedicated server in Australia, ensuring the best game play experience possible for players in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and other Southeast Asian territories. Players will still have the option of connecting to North American servers.
"Warhammer is a worldwide franchise with a strong following in Australia and New Zealand. By placing our own server down under and running customer service out of EA Mythic, we can ensure that when we launch WAR, Oceanic players will experience the same quality of game play and customer service as North American players," said Mark Jacobs, VP and General Manager of EA Mythic.

Warhammer Online : Age of Reckoning : Capital Cities
By: odimok in Warhammer Onlineposted at 11:48 pm Apr 02,2008 - 0
In our continuing coverage of EA Mythic's Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, MMORPG.com Managing Editor Jon Wood pens this article on the capital cities in the game.
Warhammer Online is an interesting game. Not just for what they are doing that is unique and innovative, but also for what they are doing that is a constant in MMORPGs. What do I mean? Well, while visiting the studios to get a look at the un-released game, I sat in on a presentation on cities. While virtually every MMORPG has cities, Warhammer seems to take city building to an extreme making large (very large) cities and filling them with content.
While we didn’t get to see every race’s starting city on our trip, we did get to see the two human cities, Altdorf and Inevitable City, giving us a great idea of both how similar and how different the cities can be.
Before we get into talking about the specific cities, we should probably talk a little bit about how the cities work and what is available in them:
As you probably already know, Warhammer Online is a Realm vs. Realm based game and at the heart of this Realm vs. Realm system are the capital cities of each race. As a result, the cities are designed to change hands as

WAR: Newsletter Zone Overview - Saphery
By: odimok in Warhammer Onlineposted at 12:34 am Mar 13,2008 - 0
The folks from EA Mythic have provided us with this overview of the zone Saphery for the upcoming MMORPG Warhammer Online. The overview originally appeared in the February newsletter.
In all of Ulthuan, Saphery is the most mysterious and enchanting of Ulthuan's kingdoms. It is a land of magic, and serves as a training ground for the mages of Ulthuan. The White Tower of Hoeth is the central monument of this breathtaking land, and houses the length and breadth of arcane knowledge held by the High Elves. The best and brightest High Elf Archmages, including luminaries such as Teclis, have practiced and perfected their craft within the White Tower.
The White Tower of Hoeth was built during the reign of Bel-Korhandis. Bel-Korhandis the Scholar King was a wizard prince of Saphery who ruled as Phoenix King following the death of Tethlis the Slayer. Though he lived to see the White Tower completed, Bel-Korhandis died a short time later, and his remains were interred within the Tower's foundations.
The Swordmasters of Hoeth are native to Saphery. They are some of Ulthuan's preeminent martial artists, training for centuries to refine their mastery of swordplay and hand-to-hand combat. The Swordm

Warhammer Online Career Overview: The Shadow Warrior
By: odimok in Warhammer Onlineposted at 5:36 pm Feb 19,2008 - 0
News Manager Keith Cross recently had the opportunity to speak with Adam Gershowitz, Associate Art Director on Warhammer Online about Shadow Warriors, elite warriors of the High Elves who walk the line between dark and light in their quest for vengeance against the enemies of Elfkind. Adam was also kind enough to send over specific information about the Shadow Warrior's specific abilities, strategic maneuvers, stances, and examples of what a few rounds of combat might look like.
During the age when the Elven Kingdom of Ulthuan was split by civil war, and the soil of Nagarythe was spattered with the blood of brothers for Malekith’s treasons, an elite line of warriors was born: the Shadow Warriors.
In the time of relative peace between the first chaos invasion, and the war which sundered the Elves into the High Elves loyal to the Phoenix King, and the Dark Elves who followed Malekith the Witch King, these warriors called Malekith’s homeland of Nagarythe their home. They agreed with Malekith’s view that the Elven people were growing soft and complacent, and that the elves needed to stay strong and warlike to face the growing threat of Chaos and destruction, but they disagreed with his

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning - Dark Elves vs. High Elves Conflict
By: Komido in defaultposted at 6:20 pm Sep 09,2007 - 0
Today we received loads of new screens and artwork for Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning along with a backstory for the conflict between the recently divulged Dark Elves and High Elves. We also have a new zone overview of the Chaos Wastes, which is a buffer zone between the real world and the Realm of Chaos.
Based upon Games Workshop’s tabletop fantasy war game, EA Mythic’s Warhammer Online: AoR will hit the PC sometime in the beginning of 2008. Included with the previously mentioned new screens and videos, you can read the entire storyline after the break. This game looks like it just going to give other MMORPG titles a run for their money.
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning - Zone Overview – The Chaos Wastes
The Chaos Wastes, also known as the Umbra Chaotica, lie far to the north of the Empire of Men, near the top of the world. Found beyond even the farthest reaches of Norsca and the Sea of Swords, the Chaos Wastes are comprised of terrain both frigid and desolate, wherein few natural things grow and only the most desperate or highly mutated creatures can hope to survive for long.
The Chaos Wastes exist as a buffer between this world and the Realm of Chaos. While the outskirts of

Q&A: Warhammer Online Interview #6
By: Komido in defaultposted at 6:41 pm Aug 14,2007 - 0
Answers by Richard Duffek
Questions by Matt Lowery
WarCry: Group sizes seem to be set to 6. For raids, or large encounters, how many groups do you need to take on things like the Bloodthirster, or other epic mobs?
Richard Duffek: We will have a system in place similar to DAoC's Battlegroups, where you basically have a "group of groups" taking on large encounters. Different encounters will be geared to different sized BGs, but that's something we'll be tweaking through beta as more and more testers throw themselves onto the giant pile of corpses surrounding the Bloodthirster's feet.
WarCry: We were told you will be able to customize your guild banner. Does your guild banner do anything, or is it just for looks?
Richard Duffek: While we really can't get into guild features much at this point, I can assure you that the guild banner will do more than just look pretty.
WarCry: In Scenarios, the instanced PvP, what is the highest amount of players allowed in the large instances at a time? What would be the average?
Richard Duffek: We've got Scenarios built for all different sizes - 6-on-6, 12-on-12, 24-on-24, etc. Again, this is something that we're going to be looking at and analyzing a lot th

Warhammer Age of Reckoning has finally brought out the Elves. The noble High elves strive for a life of harmony, balance and inner peace while the delightfully wicked Dark elves live for individualism, selfishness, and pride. Whether you prefer the High Elf or the Dark Elf there is just something seductive about playing these lithe warriors steeped in magic that makes them a staple of many fantasy games.Check out Armies of War: High Elves for more information on this force of law. Armies of War: Dark Elves will let you in on this chaotic race.
