Before anyone misunderstands or any nay-sayers decide to decent onto this post with self-righteous fury, no this isn’t about STO’s reputation with players as a game or about trying to “save” the game. The game doesn’t need saving, it’s already an amazing and successful MMO. This is about their planned improvements/additions to the game’s Reputations system. STO is adding another Reputation to the game in the new expansion coming this May. Frankly, I consider this a good thing, and honestly feel that their moving many rewards into the reputation system is a smart move. That said, the reputation system is in desperate need of a lot more of these reputations.

I really feel that making the whole game based on these reputations is a much smarter idea than what they started with. I’d like to see them put in a Starfleet reputation for FED players, a Klingon reputation for KDF players, a Neutral Factions reputation, a Borg Invasion reputation (to separate it from the Omega Task Force reputatio

Hey peeps, I have been playing again Star Trek Online, and I have to admit that STO is a good game in its base, I know it needs some tweaking around, but so far I have no complains against Cryptic, after all they have added more stuff in 2 months, than other developers in a whole year!!!!

STO is something different from the rest of the mmos around, and for that only reason is worth the try if you ask me, recently they just added more instances, some new map, other store items (complaning about the C-Store is for other time), and a new refresh to the memory alpha place, now you got some interface to track where your leveling into such thing is going, is a good thing if you ask me, now I get motivated to get those random stuff all across the place and try to level it up...

Another thing t

Star Trek Online isn't a Mmo.

MMORPG isn't a genre, It's a alternative to "Instance", "consoles","handheld","single-player". Multi-playerdefines that theirs a lot of players, that what star trek is an MO (Multiplayer Online). MMORPG is a framework, Not an instance. About a shared world, not a lobby.

STO has perpetrated as an  MMO. We’ve been said to that the instances weren’t noticeable, as we were wrong after all. Not only is that a huge barrier between a large persistent world, It blocks communication barrier, socializing barrier,  Interaction barrier, outside the zone chat. They also had the nerve to put prefix-MMO. Okay, you’ve just crossed the line here.

Cryptic I’ve expected more then just 20-50 players in one instance. I’ve expected an MMORPG. You can’t take that description without looking at the facts. In STO, you get a Quest in an instance, you are lucky to either have someone participating with you in your instance (Not preplanned With friends/Ventrilo) most of these mission is orientat

Star Trek gaming site, Hailing Frequency, reported  an interesting turn around for the recently closed official Star Trek Online site, which returned with a brand new background and a "Coming Soon" underneath the logo. The WhoIs information have not been updated as of yet, but as noted in the HF report, this might change very soon:

This could signify a change in hands of the domain, potentially from perpetual, to whoever may be developing it now, but, attempts to trace the domain back to its new owner do not give any results.

As the recent rumors have indicated, Cryptic Studios might be the secretive new developer, but their lips are tightly shut at the moment. Stay tuned as we continue covering this very possible resurrection of Star Trek Online!

STAR TREK ONLINE: With Perpetual’s recent round of employee lay-offs and delay of GODS & HEROES into next year - it comes as good news to hear that the company’s other MMO, STAR TREK ONLINE still seems to be flying towards production.

MPOGD chats with STO’s Captain, Daron Stinnett, who tells us that pre-production on the game is about finished and the team are headed for actual production of game assets in the near future.

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed for an eventual release of an exceptional Star Trek MMO. I’ve been waiting for one for almost eight years (when I first fell in love with the massive genre). I want to command squads of “red shirts” and send them out to their deaths! Does that make me a bad person? Beam it up.

” ‘Everyone gets their own ship,’ said Daron, ‘Each player starts out with a small shuttle early on in the game, and then they graduate to successively larger ships as they gain in rank. They use that ship to get around the galaxy to fight against other enemy races, and to do missions for Starfleet on various planets. They will be able to group up with other players in space or on the ground.’ “
