Recent Garen changes have made him extremely overpowered.

Garen has always been one of those champions that are seemingly easy to pick up and excel with, but I don't feel that has been true until now. Riot has recently implemented some changes to Garen which increases his overall ability to sustain a lane and deal/soak up damage. These changes, enhancing both his offensive and defensive ability, allows the player to build Garen with a variety that excels primarily in the role of a bruiser but can be transitioned into heavy damage or tank.

One of the most significant changes made to Garen lies in his passive ability, Perseverance, which heals him for 0.5% of his maximum health per second after 9 seconds of not taking damage. This ability previously only activated if Garen hadn't taken damage from any source, but now allows you to be attacked by minions and continue to heal. Unfortunately it doesn't stay active while taking damage from neutral monsters, such as the golems, dragon, baron, wraiths, etc. Only lane minions will allow you to re

Check out League of Legends now by Signing Up!

I've been playing League of Legends consistently for almost 2 years now. I began back in October of 2010. To be completely honest though, I never expected it to last me this long. Most games don't generally have that sort of re-playability. Especially one that is free to play and to date only has 3 maps. Add to that the fact that League of Legends can be more frustrating than fun at times and it's a wonder I've gone this long playing it. Even though there have been times I've been more than distracted with other games and didn't bother playing League of Legends, I always find myself back on the Fields of Justice.

One of the main contributing factors to the replay value of League of Legends is the fact that no two matches are ever the s

So this is the second part of my series of articles about the 3 biggest game in the MOBA/Action RTS genre and I have to apologize for not writing it earlier but I had my hands full with studying for my finals.

For those who want to read part 1: http://my.mmosite.com/2728988/blog/item/dotadota2_lol_hon_part_1.html

So in part 1 I wrote about the games, like how their gameplay is and how the ingameshops are and I need to add that Valve has announced and released their "Cashshop". Most important difference between this shop and the others is, that all heroes are free for everyone in DotA 2. For more information about the ingame store visit the Link below.

So in this second part I want to write about the community, especially how

So this article is about the 3 most popular games in the MOBA/Action RTS genre. It's just about my opinion of these games and a comparison and why I play them. I started with HoN when it was in Closed Beta and I played LoL later when it was released. Recently I got a Betakey for DotA 2 which I already played on my friends account. So I got 2500+ games experience in HoN and about 1500+ in LoL. Because I jsut recently got my key and played some times on an other account to I only have about 30-40 games on DotA2 and about 50 in DotA, thus my opinion about DotA2 is not complete yet and well it is still in CBT.

Gameplay

Let's start with LoL, which is I think the easiest of the 3 to get into and to learn. The gameplay is simple, there is not as much strategy involved as it is in the other gam

League of Legends shows off three new champions at E3

At the end of the first day of E3 I got the chance to spend some time talking to Riot Games about where they are going in the next few months.  In addition to talking about the successes of the Tribunal system as well as the upcoming Spectator Mode, Riot spoke about three new champions we can expect to load into the game in the next few months.  All three of these champions are tanks, which is interesting in and of itself.  I guess Riot has been noticing a lack of tanking options in LoL.

Spectator Mode is something that players have been begging for for a while now.  Soon you will be able to watch matches using a specially designed interface which makes following the action as simple as a click of the mouse.  This mode will be incredibly useful for those looki

I don't know about you, but I as a new League of Legends player, I was waiting on this announcement.  Thus I was overjoyed to hear that Riot Games released their co-op versus AI mode today.  While it is only available in Summoner's Rift at the moment, it is still a step in the right direction to ease PvE players into a PvP game.

The tutorial for League of Legends already gives you one player versus AI battle to whet your appetite, but then drops you squarely into combat with players that could be more experienced that you.  Even using the leveling bracket system doesn't always work, since I swear I had season players in my level five bracket who had just rerolled new Summoners so they could trounce the noobs.

League of Legends previews the new champion Nocturne

Today the League of Legends team posted this mysterious image of one of the champions they will soon be adding to the game.  Little is known about Nocturne, so it seems appropriate that his image is so shadowy as well.  We'll no doubt here more about this night walker as the week's progress, but for now here's what LoL had to say about this guy:

Have you ever taken in a horror film only to go to bed with your eyes wide open on the lookout for things that go thump in the night? Well while we’re on the topic of things akin to ghosts, goblins, phantoms, specters, apparitions, poltergeists and very possibly the boogeyman, allow me to be the first to introduce you to Nocturne, the Eternal Nightmare. But don’t worry! While he might feature prominently in the next th

Yesterday Riot Games turned their analysis lens inward and looked back over the development of League of Legends.  The lessons they learned over the course of the development of their megahit game were limited but useful for anyone looking to get into game design themselves.  Really, that’s what GDC is all about:  Game developers coming together to share secrets and lessons about how best to get great games made.  For the rest of us, we’re just lucky to get the chance to sit at their feet and listen to the inspiring dialog.

First Riot bills themselves as a customer centric game company, and as such they believe in building games as a service.  This sort of focus informs much about what they do in terms of game design, and affects not on

Riot Games, maker of PC online battle arena game League of Legends, has announced that Chinese internet services provider Tencent has acquired a majority stake in their company. We still don't know what this means financially, but the day-to-day operations will remain independent, and the current management will stay in charge. Back in 2008, Tencent licensed League of Legends for the Chinese market.

A release says that Riot plans to hire aggressively for their offices in 2011 while maintaining their Los Angeles main officese. They also plan to use this new financial backing to bring League of Legends into new markets and develop new games.

"This is exciting news for 'League of Legends' players and the existing Riot Games team," said Brandon Beck, CEO, Riot Game

Introduction
League of Legends Clash of Fates is a self-proclaimed Massive Multiplayer Online Battle Arena game developed by Riot Games. Game-play revolves around one character, appropriately termed a “champion”, in game types such as arranged team, practice and solo. Throughout the game, you can customize your character around your fighting style by purchasing runes and spending points on your masteries when you level up. This game doesn’t take any experience in Dota or Heroes of Newerth; just jump in and play. The learning curve is simple and you will find yourself putting together combos in no time.

Gameplay
Once you start playing the game, you will realize the rules of League of Legends are quite simple and self-explanatory. You have AI controlled minions spawning frequently to assist you during battle and your many goals include: fighting your way through the enemy turrets, putting down as many champions as you can, leveling up your abilities, buying equ
