Did the Free Trial experience ever leave you wanting more?
By: octopusx in defaultposted at 9:05 am Feb 27,2012 - 0

Many pay-to-play & buy-to-play MMOs these days offer Free Trials for players to experience game content to a certain degree without having to pay anything. This is an interesting feature I like to see with games, but I think these Free Trials should be available from the launch day on and not half or even a full year or more after release. You might argue that no one would pay for the game if they did this early on, which might be true, but to get a bigger playerbase of active (paying) players, it is my belief that Free Trial would lure in a lot more people than lets say, an Open Beta prior to release.
It is known that the free-to-play model is more or less the future of MMOs (at least the majority of them) where micro-transactions bring revenue to game companies. But the pay-to-play

Hello Kitty Online Downloader!
By: MapleTire in Hello Kitty Onlineposted at 12:11 pm Feb 26,2012Tags: hello kitty online downloader chart pieces p2p performa

I bought a new laptop so I decided to re-download and install Hello Kitty Online. I thought it was interesting because the downloader has alot of personality and class to it.
The downloader colour fades when it gets de-selected. I thought it's a first time I've seen such an downloader.
The downloader also has other sections relating to Peer-2-Peer when downloading.
It shows off the performance and the pieces when downloading, pieces because it's alot quicker to download and manage. I've never seen an downloader for any MMO to include such high quality production on a downloader allow.
The performance page shows off a downloader chart. Has anyone found this useful? Maybe when your lagging but even for your first try, would you know you'll use t

Why I prefer f2p Games
By: Zevri in defaultposted at 7:33 pm Sep 20,2011Tags: discussion f2p p2p

Zanpakutou recently made a blog post on a rant about why he hates Pay-to Play games. A bit eager to give my input on the matter, I thought I would chime in on the discussion as well.
First off let me say that I have been on both sides of the fence. I actually started out on pay to play games, and have gravitated more to their free-to-play counterparts. I have went back to pay to play once in a great while, most recent was when AION was first released in China. So suffice to say, I actually do prefer free-to-play over pay to play, and I will attempt to explain why while also explaining some habits in pay to play I actually liked.
Time and Money
The thing that probably most keeps me away from pay-to-play games is time. I have it, but n

Your first mmo?
By: Zevri in defaultposted at 4:57 pm Jun 22,2011 - 2

Do you remember it? How did it affect how you see mmos now? Was it better or worse than what you play now? I ask this mostly out of curiousity, but also to see how what you started playing gauged how you rate other online games.
As for me, I do remember my first mmo. It's called Nexus: Kingdom of the Winds, and has been around since the late 90's, which is actually when I started playing it. I was looking up places to download or pirate games and ran across it. Now, then I was actually new to computers, the internet, all of that stuff, so I didn't really know the term "mmo". So imagine my surprise, that I had to log into a game and saw other people wandering around. I actually remember asking the most newbie question of all, "Is this online?". Yes, I did.

P2P V.S. F2P Vent style
By: LordDrathan in defaultposted at 9:41 pm Feb 10,2011 - 1
Ok well dis my first blog im writing here, and its mostly me complaining about P2P games. Well i dont mind a one time fee for a game but making it a monthly paying Game. wat we suppose to do if you got no job and wana play a cool new mmo. I really dont see the differance between a P2P and F2P except P2P has faster content update. Im pretty sure that if a F2P has a huge commuity and publicity as a P2P many companys wont bother 2 charge for there games. wat makes it even worst is not only are u charging me to play a game but also for additional stuff, items, and accessorie. and most of the additional stuff are not even perment. im just tired of all the Good games coming out have to have a monthly fee then charge you for cooler looking stuff then what you get in game.

Why I Think Free to Play Games Are Doomed To Fail
By: Zanpakutou in defaultposted at 6:23 pm Dec 22,2010 - 4
Over the years, the Free to Play (F2P) business model has become dominant favored over the Pay to Play (P2P) model. However, the F2P model often lacks the same quality or has other issues that causes them to suffer in terms of quality compared to P2P games. The following is a list of reasons why I think this is the case and why it is the way it is. Ironically, I think these are the same reasons that cause private servers to exist.
1) The developers have a semi-monopoly
MMOs only have 1 publisher in each region so they have a lot of freedom and control over what they want to do. No matter what they do, if others want to play the game, they usually only have 1 choice since there is only 1 publisher for the game. IP bans are put in place to make sure that this is the case so even if other people want to play the game, they only have 1 choice. If the developers want to make more money, they can heavily restrict different parts of the world to specific regions and collect a licensing fee for

Free alternatives to P2P games

World of Warcraft
The biggest and the most popular MMORPG has it’s free alternatives. It is of course, silly to compare WoW to some free games, but these alternatives have built up their own player base and reputation, thanks to developers and fans’ devotion to them.
If you’re tired of WoW, or you don’t have enough money for monthly subscriptions ($14.99 per month), i recommend the following titles:
Free alternatives:
Runes of Magic

Runes of Magic is free fantasy MMORPG set in Taborea, a magical world full of wonders and ancient mysteries. Game client size is 3,39 GB and Minimum system requirements are following:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.0 GHz or equivalent
RAM: 512MB
Required Harddisk space: 3.62GB
Graphics card: DirectX 9.0c compatible with 128MB RAM.
4Story

4Story is another MMORPG that resembles WoW and is free to play. You can choose between two factions and pick from three races and six different classes. Game client is 879 MB, and in ord

Tired Of Paying For Games You DON'T Have The Money For?
By: arkai in defaultposted at 10:33 am May 17,2009 - 0
Hey's, This is tymciwb20, comming to you from Canada, Ontario.
Today i'm gonna talk about how making money isn't all that hard. Many (Many Many) people i've talked to, say that money dosn't come from tree's (Blah Blah Blah) you have to go OUT and make a living. Even if your just a teenager, or even a kid on the other hand, you would save your money for weeks, if not months, just so you can pay for that extra game, you just Have to have, or even just paying for a monthly fee for a game.(Eve onlne, World Of WarCraft, Runescape, etc) This can build up to become one Giant pain in the @ss.
Have you guys/girls ever herd of Twitter?
Twitter is all over the world, every one Joins it, every one Enjoys it.
Well back to the point, you got Msn, Aim, aol, yahoo, etc. Don't you wish you could make like anywere from $0.10 to $0.50 per messege sent. Wouldn't that be great. Well i'm telling you that this is NOT possible. No way on earth could that work. But Twitter on the ther hand. people on twitter will follow you, become traffic. You post one link and over 100 people will click on in with in 24 hours.
You could turn those click from other people on twitter in to money. (eve

Part 1 is at this link: http://my.mmosite.com/imagixs/Blog/Item/60eff9b195303aaae6b86cf27834fa07.html
To be more informed about my views on this subject please look at the blogs that are about this subject. Srry I cant give you a link to all of them.
Before I start, all I want to say is this is my own opinion. Read the whole thing Ranted a lot?
What are you talking about low risk = LOW QUAlITY?
This applies not only for f2p mmo's but also p2p. I am starting to see alot of companies that are turning way from sci-fi/ modern society mmo's to crappy and used settings that are use way too much for games. Like for example:
Medevil era
- I kinda like it.What I hate about it is used every single time like 50% of mmo's have this settingCommon this is used way too much

Anime Style
I know like 1/2 of the mmosite communitte dissagre with me on this. Thesse is the reason why I hate it:
- All anime style games look alike; this is not a big deal but most of them have that this style that everyone look like a six year old. Like Luna, maple story, dragonica and ectOthers look like 12 year olds like flyff. (Dude I hate that game with a passion now)Some times they do it well like Domo witch out like the charac

P2P: Is It Worth the Money?
By: right79 in All gamesposted at 7:37 pm May 09,2008Tags: P2P money Video Games

Although the number of people subscribed to games that charge monthly fees for access continues to grow, we've all heard protests from those that refuse to pay any kind of regular fees to play a video game. Many are accustomed to the traditional retail offerings: buy the box, take it home, and play it forever, or until you get bored of it. By comparison, the $10-$15 per month a lot of MMOGs charge may look rather steep, but are they really a rip-off, or are they good value for your entertainment dollars?
Versus Other Video Games
My experience has been that video games, in general, are among the cheapest forms of entertainment to be found, particularly if you don't take the cost of the hardware into account. On the PC, gamers have quite a few free games to choose from, assuming they have an Internet connection.
Free is a good price, but free games don't always live up to the growing expectations of gamers.
At retail a single-player game can cost anywhere from $20 to $80, and usually provides dozens of hours of entertainment, potentially more if the game can replayed using a different class, faction, or gameplay mode. Even if you play through it only once and it takes 30-40 hours, o
