As a newbie in MMOs, it's rather daunting if not downright impossible to situate oneself in a well established server.  Even with high level friends and a hardcore gamer playstyle, the sheer disparage in calibur can be such a turnoff that often the game gets uninstalled before the first "free" month of subscription time is even up.

A similar situation occurs for veterans as well.  As much as the top teir players loathe the possiblity of a server slowly dwindling down and dying, a possibly more upsetting idea is for newbies to waltz in and within a span of weeks achieve the same competitive level that had required years of hard work.  More often than not, the long term loyal players will be so disillusioned by the company's attempt to attract new gamers that they'll end up quitting the game altogether and move onto something new.

That said, this wasn't set up as an analysis of hardcore versus casual gamers or simply the accessibility of MMOs, but rather how to

It is a well known fact that excessive can cause effects on your life. The most talked about of these problems are health problems. That is why you see warning lables talking of seizures and eppilepse on the of your new video game. The main reason for these is to cover the game’s developer in case a action is pursued. However, in the , a new form of concequence for enjoying the popular pastime has emerged.

By Dean Sherwin

In a recent story aired on Sky News, the countries leading news channel, reports were made that excessive gamers may find it hard finding employment in such pressing times. The reasons for this are because studies have shown that people who play MMOs and MMORPGs are more likely to stay up late at night or even call in sick so that they can stay at home and play. The report stated that many employers have noticed these patterns in their employees and will be less hasty to employ anyone who states that they enjoy video on their C.V. or in the interview.

Did I already mention how much I miss robotics? Like seriously...Regionals was the most fun I've ever had in my entire life. We made friends with every other team there and it was just a huge awesome dance party. And then there was the after party...dude that was awesome. With a place full of nerds, you have to have rock band, ddr, and the wii. But I spent the whole time dancing, singing karaoke with like 20 other people, and stuffing my face with doughnuts. That is the one big thing I am looking forward to along with actually working on the robot. I just love that we're a family and we act like maniacs because we don't give a shit. It just feels so good to be myself and not have people talk behind my back. Although...I really don't know if they do but...I can assume...I have evidence...but evidence that can not be shown...>.>

So that was random...lol. I still haven't played an MMOs lately. I still have a slow crappy PC. My brother's too lazy to do anything about it and I don't have any money. Well maybe 3 dollars in coins but that's it XD Although...I don't know if I'll ever be able to play an MMO again...I can't write an entry everyday anymore :(

Buying and Selling Virtual Goods

Usually we lose money by playing a MMORPG. We either pay a monthly subscription fee or have the option to purchase special items through a cash shop. But there are many who make money playing these games by selling in game currency or items for money in the real world. Today there are literally dozens of websites which are willing to purchase in game currency from players in order to resell it. Obviously by selling to a retailer, the player gets a lower price than if he were to sell it directly to another player, but the fact that so many sites exists makes the virtual market place much more reliable and liquid. It also shows how large the market as grown.

The virtual market has become so profitable that virtual sweatshops have sprung up in places like China where dozens of people are payed simply to farm virtual items in today's most popular games such as World of Warcraft and Maple Story. Unfortunately, many of these "gold farmers", as they are styled, use bots and other third party programs to automate the process. The industrialization of the process has made it almost impossible for the average player to make any money playing the game legitimately. But while player

CCP on EVE Online, White Wolf MMO

The world of EVE Online is in a constant state of transition. With over 200,000 players, and up to 35,000 online in the same universe at the same time, the game has developed a social structure unlike another other in the realm of MMOs.

It's to the point where the developer CCP is currently in the process of drafting a democratic council for the virtual realm and recently appointed an in-game economist. Where rogue players can walk away from online heists with merchandise valued at thousands of dollars in real-life currency.

To learn more about what CCP has in the works, and also just what's happening with the upcoming White Wolf MMO it has in development, I spoke with communications director Valerie "Pann" Massey, community manager Mike Read, and director of North American marketing Peter Gollan.

Shack: What can you say about the player committee you're in the process of putting together?

Valerie Massey: Right now, we've spent a lot of time working, just a very small team of us, working on just a foundation document. I don't know if you know this or not, but Iceland is the home of the very first parliament in the world. Hundreds of years ago, they were the first ones that did it. So
