Banned before launch.

Australia has to deal with the OFLC, the department in charge of handing out classification ratings to video games being sold in Australia. Reading the news recently to see what was going on in the industry I started to notice a small but obvious trend starting to appear, Australia was becoming more strict on video game releases. I'm an Australian myself, so I have to sit here and watch this news roll in and have my heart sink a little.

Now I know there are countries who are worse, but maybe I just need to vent a little. Australia will only classify games suited for M15+ (I believe thats Teens rating in the US). If the game is deemed to be 18+ it is banned before launch. Now I can understand if maybe a game had taken violence and drug abuse to a whole new level, but the choices by the OFLC recently have been shameful.

Left For Dead 2: Too violent. Banned. Risen: Drugs and sex as incentives and rewards. Banned. Did the Australian government decide somewhere down the line that adults (18+) don't play video games, therefore there's no point in rating that high? Who is in charge of giving out these ratings?
