Square Enix announced today with a trailer the release of Mobius Final Fantasy for mobile devices. The game is available in Japan for some time now but it finally finds its way to the western market. Mobius Final Fantasy is free-to-paly with in-app purchases and has some big names behind it like the producer of Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII Remake, Yoshinori Kitase and the writer Kazushige Nojima. Judging by the trailer the game has some of the most impressive visuals we have ever seen in a mobile game.

Mobius Final Fantasy is coming out on August 3 and players can pre-register for a chance to receive some Final Fantasy X themed items including a Yuna character.

FFXIV has 2 pet systems, and we got to have a lot of fun with the first one, their companion system during beta 3. But during beta 4, we were finally able to really get into the Minion system! Unlike companions, minions are unable to fight with you. They have no stats and no health bar. Basically, they're vanity pets.

Sure minions may be useless but there's just some kind of pull they have that drives you to attempt to collect them all! It's not until you're seriously on "the chase" for minions, that you begin to glimpse the scope of this system. Minions aren't just a cosmetic pet. They're a "living" extension of the achievement system! There are about 50 different minions and you'll be able to discover each one as you put time into the game. Some of them are crafted by high leve

Community Voice: What can other MMO Devs learn from Square Enix...?

What would've happened if left the way it was

We all know that when an MMO is dying, (or have crashed so hard that the possibility of reviving is null and void) the Devs/Publishers of those MMOs pull the plug or go free to play (And sometimes shut down afterward).

When Square Enix rushed out the newest online game in the numbered series 2 years ago (When it was being developed through Himorochi Tanaka's team) Fans lapped it up, like bees to honey, but later realized that the game wasn't as great as it seemed, their cries of content fell on deaf ears, and favoritism was rampart (AKA JAPAN OPINIONS ONRY)

Fast forward to a half a year later and the team has been replaced and the new director Naoki Yoshida, takes the helm.

Not only did he listen to his fans, but he listens to his fans WORLD WIDE, he takes their feedback and imp

SE Talks Massive ¥12 Billion Loss

Apparently SE is suffering from their own financial issues, and it actually has nothing to do with the PSN problems that are still rampant. The Final Fantasy creator has stated that it plans to report a loss of a whopping ¥12 billion (roughly $148 million) for the 2011 fiscal year .

Apparently a large chunk of this massive loss is being attributed to their various cancelled projects, which account for ¥4.5 billion worth. The report from the company states that the loss is a result of "introducing a tightened selection standard regarding title lineup." Another small portion is attributed towards the recent disaster involving the earthquake and tsunami combo that hit Japan a while back, which the country is still recovering from.

There are likely a number of other things that factor towards this huge loss. For example, while the earthquake may have affected their business side of things, a large chunk of people are likely still holding off on gaming for various reas

Final Fantasy fans, put on your excitement hats – if you haven’t done so already.

The wait is…well, the wait ended about a week ago; but nevertheless, Square Enix has released the sequel to its highly popular PSP fighting game DISSIDIA Final Fantasy, the confusingly named DISSIDIA 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy. The game hit shelves on the 22nd of this month (March, for those reading months ahead), and already the rave reviews are pouring in.

The reviewers are raving some features that I, for one, find incredibly exciting. For starters, the single-player and multiplayer functions have been revamped in a major way, and changes have been made to the combat system that ought to get the mouths of fighting game fans watering. Talk about something old, something new: ba

After an entire decade of being absent from American gamers, the Wizardry series is finally returning home.

Publisher XSeed will be bringing Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls onto the Playstation Network this coming spring. The game will be a localization of the Japanese version released back in 2009.

Without a doubt, the game’s target demographic will be old school gamers. The series has had a lot of ch

Top 5 Most Awesome Dragons In My Gaming Experience

On my previous articles about dragon fossils, we’ve known that the actual size is not as big as we imagine a dragon is.  And some people are even skeptical to my article about it.  Well, I am not the only one who cover this news in the internet, just search it, and there were couple blogs that already gave the same data as mine.  I’m just happened to cover it in MMOSite, because dragon is closely related to RPG games.

To some points, people who has friends in Guang Zhou also can check the existence of such fossils.  And I believe the scientist of China can also explain to some people with doubts.  I prefer enjoying their claim at the moment.

However, when I look back at why I like this creature, I found that in my gaming experience, I’ve met these creatures that really resembled what I’ve imagined about dragon.  And when I talk about dragon, some game refuse to call it that way, but I’m still gonna call

Dissidia: Final Fantasy Review

Final Fantasy is arguably one of the longest and largest gaming franchises in existence, it’s been across four generations of consoles and is about to emerge into a third. It’s been ported across consoles over time and been shrunk down into handheld chunks of fun on the DS and PSP, it’s spawned new series of games that range from pseudo hack ‘n’ slash to Real Time Strategies (FF Tactics) and even been through 2 incarnations on film. It even survived the merger of the two Japanese RPG giants Squaresoft and Einx in 2003.

Dissidia: Final Fantasy is the latest in Square-Einxs epic and takes a different approach into the series as a swish and sleek fighting game. Spanning across all of the Final Fantasy universe, from I to X, and containing the lead protagonists and antagonists from each of these games who have joined together onto two opposing sides; the side of Cosmos made up of the protagonists and the side of Chaos which consist of the antagonists from the series. The story is the standard affair for a Final Fantasy series; without wanting to reveal all, the side of Chaos (the God of Discord) attacks and tries to kill Cosmos (the God of Hope), this means

Storylines in MMORPGs: Goals and Antagonists

I believe this is my fourth article this month... man, I don't know if this is "on a role", or just plain obsession. I think it's something to hold me off until Darkfall, maybe... Alright, here I go!

It's a constant idea that continuously grows as all MMOsiters toy with and write about it. I think it's about time I threw in my two cents on the matter. It is basically a common belief that adding a storyline to an MMORPG, something that can give you that... sensation similar to the feeling conveyed in Final Fantasy 7's "Aerith's Death", should make an MMORPG instantly popular. I have, however, noticed that MMORPGs are doing this nowadays, and things remain unchanged. But why? Developers are still going about it the wrong way! I don't think simply adding a storyline is enough anymore, where I had once vouched for that idea. The story is there... but the grind is the same! Are storylines and MMORPGs just complete opposites?

In many games, mainly RPGs, the main character is usually a young nobody who discovers there is something more to them, some popular choices writers take are finding out that their lineage is of royalty, they have some special abi
