PvP

The Spirit of Aika is conflict carried out through PvP.A good fight makes this world go ‘round, and in this dev diary we’ll be discussing three of Aika’s most challenging PvP events.

PvP is the core element to everything you do in Aika.Aika is built around a large scale player vs player model, in which players form guilds, guilds form alliances, and alliances form nations that do battle against each other. There are three PvP events that can change an entire nation’s political landscape: Castle Siege, the Relic War, and the Altar War.

Castle Siege pits comrades against each other over the right to power. In each nation there is a bastion of power called the Lakian Fortress. Each week, a new rebellion arises as guilds rally to take the castle from the ruling alliance and their Lord Marshal

Yup I’ve been busy with another closed beta testing MMO. This time it’s Aika Online. I’ve first heard about the game way back in February 2010 when Gpotato was the only English publisher who handled it. Unfortunately they blocked non-US and non-Canada IP addresses because of licensing issues.

My experience with this game has been really good. The GMs were helpful even to the point of helping us through dungeons/instances. I hope they remain this way through the progression of the whole game. My only problem with this game is that I lagged somewhat despite my fast internet connection. There was a slight 2 second delay on casting skills and attacking. I’ve never experienced this before in my other MMOs.

The thing I like about this game is the “Pran” system.

Aiten Arena

Aika is a free to play MMO that specializes in PvP battles, particularly massive PvP battles involving lots of players.  It may seem odd why one who  doesn't really like to PvP would even start to play and continue playing this game.  Honestly, I started this game because a friend of mine was playing it and convinced me to try it.  However, even though my friend has since moved on, this game is still fun enough that I still log in to play almost everyday.

Technical
The graphics in this game are relatively pretty.  The details are good and there are many environments ranging from a rainy dreary battlefield all the way to a bright sunny desert.  Movement is mostly via the keyboard but the mouse may also be used.  As this game is still very new, there are st

The Lord Marshall decided that we will raid the biggest nation alliance in the game, Lenaria and Alethius. We formed our raid partys as usual, and at the LM's signal we rushed into Alethius. The plan this time around was to attack their Algon temple, since it's the strongest available temple and therefore, probably has worthwhile relics inside.

As soon as we got there, we got to work destroying it's defenses, the npc guards and guardian stones. Unfortunately, i died in battle early on. The available clerics were supposed to be resurrecting any dead allies, but it didnt happen. It's fine with me though, i love the view after death.

The screen becomes grainy and blurry and the sounds become muffled, much like in those old war movies you see. I took some pics of the action around me and started to notice more and more of  our players dying. Daughters were all around me crying over their dead masters(mine was pointing and laughing though) and that's when i switched my hub on. Both

Our new Lord Marshall called upon the nation to take a vote of which relics we will steal to fill our own temples. That was all the motivation Feonir needed to start building full raid parties and in preparation of the biggest feonir raid in history.  The atmosphere was amazing, everyone was pumped up and even players who don't like pvp were showing up to support our country.

As we amassed outside the rift(the crack in space that allows you to slip into the other countries), we waiting on our Lord Marshall's signal. Before it could come, we got an alert that one of our temples was under attack! Honestly i feel sorry for that party of Lenarian players.  Well it was a nice detour. So we all gathered back at the rift to prepare for the invasion.

I talked to my pran for good luck :3

The plan was to cross into Alethius, move to their temple in the Tabzara desert, and steal the Holy Statue and Holy Grail. We would have to destroy all the npc guards, and the guardian stones surroun

Gimlix last day

So the strongest guy in my guild, Gimlix logged in. Apparently life was catching up, so he wouldnt be able to play Aika Online anymore. I hate when that happens >.<

As a last day kind of thing, he offered to take anyone willing, through the hardest dungeon in the game. Lost Mines. I've only been through it once and it just so happens to have SEVEN bosses all located in different rooms. The mines themselves are a maze, and we have 1 hour to get as much done as we can before we're kicked from the dungeon.

We entered with 1 warrior, Gimlix, 2 Paladins, 1 warlock, and 1 cleric. Not even a full party x) Thanks to gimlix's strength we easily moved through the tunnels killing enemies.

I'm happy to report we managed to kill all 7 bosses with 5 minutes remaining :3  Thanks a lot Gimlix, we'll miss you!

Feonir's new Lord Marshal

In the nation of Feonir, we've had a few problems with our last Lord Marshalls. Today being the castle siege meant the end of the old regime and a new Lord Marshall would take the reins of our nation.

How unfortunate, our new Lord Marshall's made a couple of messes within his 1st 4 hours of power.

His 1st order of business? Removal of a somewhat useless exp relic from one of our temples. Since the only way to remove it seems to be letting it be stolen, he decided to break our alliance with the nation of Ostyion, and allow them to plunder our temple. Then we would re-ally. Then he decided to allow them to take ALL our relics so that we may start his regime with a clean slate. This made absolutely no sense to anyone in our nation but he insisted he had a plan the whole time.

Everything went according to his "plan" until it was time to re-ally with ostyrion. They decided to refuse us. Our nation was PISSED! Not just at ostyrion but at our Lord Marshall and anyone who dared t
