PvP

The Spirit of Aika is conflict carried out through PvP.A good fight makes this world go ‘round, and in this dev diary we’ll be discussing three of Aika’s most challenging PvP events.

PvP is the core element to everything you do in Aika.Aika is built around a large scale player vs player model, in which players form guilds, guilds form alliances, and alliances form nations that do battle against each other. There are three PvP events that can change an entire nation’s political landscape: Castle Siege, the Relic War, and the Altar War.

Castle Siege pits comrades against each other over the right to power. In each nation there is a bastion of power called the Lakian Fortress. Each week, a new rebellion arises as guilds rally to take the castle from the ruling alliance and their Lord Marshal

Gender-lock: In favor or against?

I've always liked to play magic damage-dealing characters (previously known as Glass Cannons). But lately I've came across many games that force me to pick a female character or choose another type of class.

I usually try to match the looks of my character in game to the real me, but this is not always possible due to the fact that games like Vindictus, ArchLord (although Orc Sorcerers are male), Aika and some others have class-specific gender lock.

For some reason, most games that are gender-locked place magic classes (healers or dps) on the female side.

I'd really like the companies to let me choose if I wanna play a female or male character based on my liking, and not on the class I wanna play.

It is well-known that some male gamers play female characters in order to earn 'favo

MMO IP Blocks are the Developers Fault – Not the Publishers

When an MMORPG or an MMO game has IP blocks in place to prevent people from certain regions from accessing the game, it’s the game developers fault, not the publishers. For example – when Gamigo announced that only those in Europe could play Martial Empires and War of Angels, Gamigo didn’t willfully prevent those outside of Europe from accessing the game. The fact is, CR-Space, the Korean game developer behind Martial Heroes, only sold the European license for Martial Empires to Gamigo. They apparently did not sell the North American license to anyone. When gPotato made Aika North America only, the same thing happened. Gpotato only made the game North America only because they didn’t have “permission” from Aika’s developer (HanbitSoft). So gPotato was forced to ban all non-U.S ip addresses. A global version of Aika on the T3Fun service, who also has Cardmon Hero and WYD Global, eventually launched. The global version was open to every country e

It was this video of the Dual Gunner class that captured my attention. Aika Online's Dual Gunner is ranged, with rather flashy skills and deals more than one hit. So I decided to give it a try. Hey, it's free; if I didn't like it, I could just quit whenever I wanted.

40 levels later, I was still playing the game with my Dual Gunner class. And this is the time when I finally learned something important about the game which made me regret falling in love with my Dual Gunner.

Aika Online is 99% PVP-based. And I am anti-pvp.

My nation is Ostyrion. We allied with Feonir for about two months, maybe less. During that time, I found out that a lot of players from my country are there. In fact, there is a country guild that originated from Ostyrion and moved to Feonir. With Ostyrion being my nation, and with my countrymen in Feonir, I practically have two nations that I belong to!

While I was still in my first guild, I made a friend, Azryl. We got quite c

Pros and Cons of Aika Online

I've been planning to write a review of Aika for a while and I decided the best way to accurately describe the game is to list the pros and cons and let the reader decide for themselves (whether or not the game is right for them). So I'll get right to it - note that this refers to the gpotato version of the game.

Pros

Quest based leveling - you can get to level 48 easily by simply questing. Those who play a lot can reach 50 in a week, while more casual players can get to 50 in around a month or less. Various pvp options - the game is pvp-centred and has various pvp modes such as realm vs realm relic wars, the team vs team battlegrounds, aitan arena, castle siege and pking. No exp loss on death - equipment loses durability instead.Auto-loot -

Review of Aika from a casual player

Aiten Arena

Aika is a free to play MMO that specializes in PvP battles, particularly massive PvP battles involving lots of players.  It may seem odd why one who  doesn't really like to PvP would even start to play and continue playing this game.  Honestly, I started this game because a friend of mine was playing it and convinced me to try it.  However, even though my friend has since moved on, this game is still fun enough that I still log in to play almost everyday.

Technical
The graphics in this game are relatively pretty.  The details are good and there are many environments ranging from a rainy dreary battlefield all the way to a bright sunny desert.  Movement is mostly via the keyboard but the mouse may also be used.  As this game is still very new, there are st
