The Secret World – Second Review, December 2012.

TSW, is no longer a P2P game, Funcom changed the game business model some time ago and is giving away their current content free of a subscription fee. It seems kinda fair that we evaluate the game once more, see what is new in the game and how the game is performing right now. After all, the new B2P model is a big deal.

Synopsis. The game is basically the same thing, level less progression, modern times setting, dark and moody environment and a lot of urban legends. What exactly is new in the game…? This small re-review is about the new additions and the current condition of the game, I will try to keep the old things away, so I am not going to talk about the graphics that much.

In general the game feels more fun because certain features are now here, I can find a group more easily and doing Fusang is more rewarding now. Keep in mind that some little improvements can change a game and TSW is not the exception.

New weapons and the Auxiliary

The Secret World was released some time ago, the game is not exactly a normal mmo, its a niche, one that is full of zombies, mummies, vampires and all sorts of urban legends. Originally the game was another P2P title, pay your monthly fee, then wack a lot of monsters in the face in a very special environment, one that is not like all the WoWish copycats that we have in the market right now.

The only issue was the subscription fee, why pay for a game when you can buy another game that is as good as TSW and doesn't need a subscription fee? I dont really see any reason to pay 15 bucks for a game if there is another mmo around the place that doesnt need a fee, only a single box payment with a small cashshop at its side. (I am looking at you GW2)...

Well, it looks like Funcom made a nice decision, we no longer have to pay a subscription fee to play the game! We can get some sort of VIP membership that will give some benefits like extra XP and a monthly stipend that you can later on use

With all of the promotion that Guild Wars 2 has gotten since its release, it would be easy to overlook some of the other titles available. After all, the prospect of a top quality MMO with no monthly fee is hard to pass up. In fact, Guild Wars 2 is a must have title and a bit of an odd duck in a bloated market. It's not quite a free to play title, not a pay to play title, but some kind of strange hybrid the likes of which we haven't seen since the "Macho Warrior" Ric Hogan.

Thankfully, Guild Wars 2 stands the test of time a little better than he does. Despite what some may think by reading my previous article about GW2, not to mention the chaos it left in the community, I appreciate the game for what it is and think it is a must purchase for any MMO lover. It is a quality title that can stand up against the best pay to play titles, and the one time purchase fee means that you'll have an MMORPG to play even if you can't afford a monthly fee.

I decided to play Guild Wars 2 years

Right out of the gate with my paycheck I had to make a decision... Wait for Guild Wars 2, or go ahead and spend 50$ on The Secret World.. I chose to go ahead and go spend the 50$. I had heard soo much about Secret World. Back when I was playing Age of Conan (not the Unchained/ F2P) I was in a guild called Envy. We all enjoyed our times of power leveling each other and getting one another up to a decent level enough to run with the guild.. Well, soon enough, the announcement for The Secret World started fireworks inside the brains of all my old guildees. Every one on Ventrilo was ecstatic and couldn't stop talking about the new, upcoming release from Funcom: The Secret World.

I took a gander and decided to have a look for myself. Come to find out, TSW is awesome! No levels, play your character how you want, and plenty of Polaris, Hells Rising, Inferno, and DW groups to join up in! Why in the hell they think that 'No Open World' PvP is bad is beyond me.

Hey peeps, some of you already know that Update 1.1 Unleashed was released today, adding missions, fixing some bugs and also adding the marketplace!!!! The marketplace is like some sort of Broker, you put an item for sale and that's it... You dont have to wait to get an item and then get undercut at the last minute by another player.

I notice that a lot of people is already cluttering the marketplace in London, unfortunately they are not exactly buying or selling stuff, they are simply doing some serious power trading, without using the chat to buy and sell stuff, its a bit harder to catch someone that is doing this. I know that doing power trading is not exactly against the rules but you still a douche for doing it and causing massive price raise in some items in the game. Just look at the 'Blue Weapon toolkits'!!!!

If you ask me, those toolkits are way too expensive because you need to get the toolkit and the materials, not to mention the glyph toolkit and the runes.
