Despite the game being 10 1/2 years old now, FFXI is still going strong.

Square Enix  announced a few months ago that

their most successful numbered Final Fantasy title will be

getting another expansion to be released in 2013.

The latest trailer released by Square presents the 5th expansion to FFXI:

"Seekers Of Adoulin"

It is the first full expansion for Final Fantasy XI in over 5 years after Wings of the Goddess.

Seekers of Adoulin is set in the western continent of Ulbuka and will feature new areas, quests and jobs.

Such as the Geomancer and Rune fencers.

*PlayStation 2 support for Seekers of Adoulin will only be available in Japan*

Although Square Enix is not dropping PlayStation 2 support for Final Fantasy XI as a whole,

SquareEnix has been the early starters when it comes down to MMOs, they are currently making an effort to get Final Fantasy XIV and Dragon Quest X off the ground.

Of course, other then the current letdown of Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI was SquareEnix's first attempt which was successful enough to spawn expansion packs. The success which as led them to believe that Final Fantasy XIV would reach the same success.

Anyone who has played Final Fantasy XI knows how much of a pain in the ass it can be to use the PlayOnline service, essentially a glorified launcher for the game, for anything other than getting to the game itself. Messing with browser mail, figuring out how to manage your account settings, the constant loadtimes, etc etc. It's just a humongous hassle.

If there's one thing Square Enix can do right with their MMO products, it's providing some damn good deals. Today, to commemorate the game's nine year anniversary, they have announced a Final Fantasy XI bundle pack that includes all of the game's content, all for a paltry $19.99.
