Asta Online: Is It Worth Your Time? - A Critical Review

By: InMyOpinionGaming in ASTAposted at May 05, 2017 2:50 am

Asta Online is a Free To Play MMORPG that released originally in mid 2016 and was created using the Cryengine 3.

In the video above I look at the game and its systems, show some gameplay and talk about whether or not it's worth your time.

Asta Online is definitely a throw-back to older MMOs (for better or for worse).

That said, what ultimately turned me off of the game even at early levels was the cash shop and what they put inside of it.

It's interesting to note that this game has already shut down once in 2016, and ultimately failed to do well in Korea.

Asta Online Features:

Classic Tab-Targeting CombatClassic MMO Designs (2004 WoW-esque)A variety of Races each with a unique starting areaThe game runs well on older hardwareA decent enough character creatorVoice Acting!A variety of PvP modesDungeons and GW2-style Public Events

Asta - shutting down too soon?

Asta has always been in a very strange place, the game it self I thought was actually fairly decent, especially when you compare it to some of the shovelware games that are out there, games that are genuinely bad and/or are just incredibly old but yet they're still alive, even if it's with a small playerbase, but yet Asta is closing down after just 5-6 months of entering OB, is it too early?

I don't think Asta was ever a bad game, it had some decent features within the game such as a public questing experience and plenty of dungeons to do as you progressed with them getting somewhat harder as you leveled. The classes I thought were fairly decent to play as well, there was plenty of PvP modes at all levels which isn't something you get in every game, I was also qui

Asta: First Impressions and Thoughts After Launch

The last few days have been relatively entertaining in Asta, and here are my first thoughts about the Korean MMORPG.

As with most MMORPGs, your journey in Asta begins with designing your avatar and picking the right class. The character creation in Asta is not particularly outstanding but I have seen worse. There is a sufficient amount of races and classes to choose from, and luckily the classes are not gender locked at all. The only restriction applies to certain races. Some of the inhuman races have a limited amount of classes available, but it’s not irritating at all.

You have the traditional two-faction system which is functional and creates space for PvP elements. The character creation itself is quite complex, except editing the body itself which is extremely limited. What came as a sl

Asta Online Character Creation Gameplay

I had issues with flagging so I had to speed through certain parts. I'm almost tempted to not even cover the game. Because half of it flags on Youtube. That makes no sense because the Korean version doesn't flag at all.

With that said Wow Clone comes to mind. And well it's considered a Korean version of WoW. Character customization even feels like that. The story seems rather generic but leading to a big climax very early in the game. Then it's mystery deep on leading into the rest of the game.
