.hack//G.U. Vol 1, 2, and 3 Review
By: Zanpakutou in posted at Jan 31, 2009 8:28 pm - 1

The .hack series was one of the first to split their game up into multiple parts due to the length of the story. Each game in the series focused on a specific part of the overall story. .hack G.U. was a trilogy released a few months apart from each other. It is based around an MMORPG known as “The World: R2” in which the players rely on hunting each other and performing Player Kills (PK) rather than play the game for themselves. Although its predecessor was a flop, the G.U. Series was a complete turn around for the series. This review will combine the 3 G.U. games (Rebirth, Reminiscence, and Redemption) into 1 gigantic review. I will attempt to minimize spoilers. There is a lot of stuff so I might forget a few things. G.U. has multiple meanings, but its primary meaning is

Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine

First Impression Review
Let’s get straight to what I think the most important point of this game, before I explain it:
If you are looking for a good graphic and effects MMORPG, this game is definitely not for you. But if you are looking for features, you can CONSIDER this game to play.
When I enter the game for the first time, my first impression is that this game wasn’t made to satisfy your eyes and hungers for good graphics, or colorfull environment, or even a great effects and animation. This game just want to carry on their licensing title power where they succeed at console game. Given the current technology, I was dissapointed at how they present the game at online level. Believe me, I am not a great graphic game demanding player. For me, graphic is not everything. Yes, they will influence my opinion about the game, but it is not the main point of value. I play some brower based game, and some of them are completely text based. I also still playing 2D game online game. And I even re-play some SNES RPG. But still I am dissapointed at how they bring this game online. For me, Shin

I also spoke to a friend 3 days ago and asked him why isn't he in love, and he said it's not for me, I have other things am interested in, when I asked him do you like art, he said Yes I love it, but I am bad at it, so am focusing on 3d modelling.

How to deal with the haters
One day your either watching your favorite *cough*pron*cough* video, a music video, or a show you missed the other day and you looked down at the comments. Looks good, then something catches your eye. “Hey man, why won’t you shut up because no one is telling you to watch this video so get yourself a life” You look at this, and your like o.m.g, so you look for the comment that this comment is directed at. Second page there it is, a comment so unbelievable that you would want to punch this guy or girl out. A comment where you are telling yourself why? This guy just ranted on your favorite pron video. So you want revenge an

Nexon Closes the Vancouver Development Studio
By: Hyuk in Mabinogiposted at Jan 28, 2009 10:05 pm - 0

I feel sorry to mention this news, Jesus Christ approximately 90 employees lost their jobs in Nexon's development studio lacated at Vancouver yesterday (Jan.27th), and the studio was now shuttered. According to Kotaku's report, one of their tipsters indicates that the news came by way of a studio-wide meeting in the morning on Jan. 27, which was expected to result in only half of the workforce being let go.
The Vancouver studio was actively working on the development of Nexon titles. The company's existing properties - MapleStory, Combat Arms, Mabinogi, etc. - should not be affected by this closure.

For me, Nexon will always be in my heart for having created Mabinogi (As far as I know, Mabinogi was developed by one of their studios, DevCat), actually I've no idea they got a base in Vancouver. Anyone tells me what games made by Vancouver Studio?

Messed Up PC = PS2 Reviews, Persona 4 Review
By: Zanpakutou in posted at Jan 28, 2009 11:59 am - 0

Since my computer has been having issues for a while now, I've been focusing a lot more on my PS2 RPGs and MMOs are limited in number. If I can find a way to get a bit more of Lunia I could have another MMO review soon but that depends on if I can get access to another computer which is doubtful. If I get very bored I might go over to DS as well but Xbox RPGs traditionally suck so I'm staying away from there. Persona 4 is the latest installment in the Shin Megami Tensei games. Persona 4 specifically focuses on a mute main character who is attempting to solve a mystery and you get to obtain “Personas” to help you in battle.

The story starts off as the main character (no fixed name, make up your own) arrives at a town where he will be studyin

Storylines in MMORPGs: Goals and Antagonists
By: ajthebaka in All gamesposted at Jan 26, 2009 6:18 pm - 2
I believe this is my fourth article this month... man, I don't know if this is "on a role", or just plain obsession. I think it's something to hold me off until Darkfall, maybe... Alright, here I go!
It's a constant idea that continuously grows as all MMOsiters toy with and write about it. I think it's about time I threw in my two cents on the matter. It is basically a common belief that adding a storyline to an MMORPG, something that can give you that... sensation similar to the feeling conveyed in Final Fantasy 7's "Aerith's Death", should make an MMORPG instantly popular. I have, however, noticed that MMORPGs are doing this nowadays, and things remain unchanged. But why? Developers are still going about it the wrong way! I don't think simply adding a storyline is enough anymore, where I had once vouched for that idea. The story is there... but the grind is the same! Are storylines and MMORPGs just complete opposites?
In many games, mainly RPGs, the main character is usually a young nobody who discovers there is something more to them, some popular choices writers take are finding out that their lineage is of royalty, they have some special abi

Games are bad for you (according to Brigham Young University)

If you want to buy their complete study it costs $35 which is a rip off considering that you can find the same study done by much more qualified people and for free.
Everything we found associated with video games came out negative...But I don't want parents to go out and yank all video games. It's like TV. We have to choose what's good and bad and practice moderation. -----quote.
According to studies done at Brigham Young University led by Laura Walker, all video games are bad for people period. For those who aren't aware yet, Utah is currently attempting to create legislation to place more restrictions of video games and their sales. As a result, this study is heavily biased and politcally charged. It has been quietly developing for quite some time now like other legislations that they don't want you to know about. For example, the Pro-IP Act. I doubt anyone knows what it is, but it allows a branch of the executive office to take actions on copyright violations by seizing all electronic devices in the given location where the violation occured. An example is if someone was using the wi

Korean Developer Acts Nazi Army to Promote Karma II
By: killermu in posted at Jan 20, 2009 12:16 am - 1
You probably never imagine in such a cold winter afternoon in South Korea, a group of Nazi cosplayers(maybe they are not) who were half nake and wearing old German army uniforms, appeared in the street at downtown of Seoul, the time was Jan 17th. They were not the fanatical militarists aiming to take over the city but to promote a new “the World War II theme based “MMOFPS, Karma II, which is developed by Dragonfly.

Look at their muscles, lol. Okay you won
According to several passers-by, this "army" did cause a tiny surprise in the downtown, they were shouting and holding the banner of Karma II, but after realizing it was a promotion, more and more citizens joined them to take photos.

I couldn't find more information about Karma II, only what I know it is a MMOFPS. But on their offcial site, you can find some useful information related to Karma Online, which has been released in 2002.
However, firstly when I read this news, it really made me sick especially when I see the fact they wear the Nazi uniform. I don't think it could be explained as "fun", it definitely would hurt someone's feelings. Developers may use history as element to
