EVE Online is saying its last farewell to the in-game browser system. As of October 11th, the in-game browser will be completely removed from the game.
The reason behind this, as the developing team stated, is that the current browsers people use are developing and upgrading too fast, and the maintenance of the in-game browser had become a tough job. It is time-consuming and that time could be used better elsewhere. Additionally, to keep the IGB system up to date it took a certain level of upkeep.
So developers at EVE Online decided to close this chapter for good and focus on the game. Their thoughts about this are quite optimistic because they took the most used features of IGB and put them into CREST.
