Ryzom is Free to Play

In 2004 a juggernuat MMORPG saw the light of public release, in the wake of its release other MMOs are the market felt themselves being pushed from center stage. One such title was The Saga of Ryzom, now simply Ryzom, released by French developer Nevrax. Over the past few years they have released chapter updates and implemented a New Player Experience system.

Now they are announcing this Wednesday Ryzm goes free to play. All content will be available for new players with a limitation on the level they can attain in all skills.

Yumeroh, Ryzom’s Community Laison, had this to say:
“We are pleased to announce that from now on, players that create a new account can play Ryzom without time or place limits. Instead, free trial accounts are now limited to a maximum level of 125 in all diContinue Reading

MMORPG Ryzom Goes Open Source

News dug up which was posted a few months ago. MMORPG Ryzom goes open source. What does this mean? It means you get all the tools to set up the MMORPG and get to modify and add (or substract) content into and out of the original.

Should all MMOs end up like this? A dead MMO should maybe... give players and modders a chance to set up their own versions or packages.

It would be possible, however imagine all the boredom of having to play everyone's version of Ryzom.

The Kirosta is a big threat to my progress

As it turns out the Kirosta is the last enemy I need to face on Ryzom’s training area before I go to the city. Well, the problem is that me and my team were easily defeated by it. I hated that we were too weak to take it out but with a bit of strength training I hope to bring the beast down and move out of the Ranger Camp by the end of the week!

Healing team members is important.

Every member of my team has learned a heal spell. I think that may be my major flaw in becoming champion of Ryzom. If I had learned Heal 1 when I was first offered the spell I would be able to revive my fallen team members as well as heal myself more than just with the Self Heal magic. I think that nowit is instrumental in game play, especially as I am about to leave for the capitol city. I think that with a little magic training I can make heal 1 work fo me and then raise my defensive magic skills until I am at the healing level of my team mates. Well, that is all for now. Off to train my magic skills.

All I needed was teamwork!

Well, I got tired of waiting for patience to work in my favor. I am what my friends on Ryzom call a tank. Instead of waiting around I gathered a team full of magic casters and melee attackers and we finally brought Reitzak down. Reitzak, as a reminder, is leader of the Chlorogoos. After her demise there was much rejoicing, leveling, and then yet another quest. We entered a dungeon and now we are trying to hunt a Dominant Kirosta–a variety of kitin–in order to save the Ranger Camp from the beasts awakened by the Chlorogoo.

New strategy didn't work so well today.

I played Ryzom today and tried out the strategy I was supposed to employ. I thought I almost had her, and did not want to keep her from regenerating her health so I prematurely stepped out of the water. The problem is that I underestimated her strength. So now I have truly learned patience is a virtue.

Today I received a helpful hint.

I attacked the Chlorogoo leader with my mace today. Well, I failed and Ryzom was kept in peril. But I asked the users online whether or not they could provide me with any tips. I was reminded that the leader of the Chlorogoos cannot swim and I can use the water to my advantage. I will hopefully try out this theory tomorrow and see what I can do. Magic is apparently better than physical attacking as well because you can stay at a distance. Well, hopefully tomorrow is the day I defeat her.

Failing in my New Year's Goals.

I attempted to take out the Chlorogoos for good today. Ryzom has made this game incredibly challenging though. I am excited to go to the capitol, but it will be a long time coming unless I can manage to get stronger. This villainous Tryker female managed to defeat me in only two punches. That’s right…punches. She can defeat me using her fists. I was using a two handed flaming sword. I think that she may be exploiting a weakness that I am unaware of. Hopefully I can figure out a good way to defeat her.

A Ryzom Resolution

By: KenjiLight posted at Dec 31, 2009 12:26 pm

Well everyone, I am pretty certain that my New Year’s resolution should be to defeat the Chlorogoos on Ryzom. I have been procrastinating because it is extremely difficult. I know that I can overcome though, if I put my mind to it. I think that the challenge is enough to make this a worthy resolution for the New Year.

My friend got into Ryzom with me.

I showed my friend Amanda Ryzom and she loved it! I set her up with own character, named Rini, so when she comes over she can play. If any of you ever run into a Tryker named Rini on the Arispotle server then say hi to her!
