APB- Taking out Cheaters and.....Giving them a second chance?

Yes, I know the current banner for this blog post of mine uses the banner in the dev blog from APB:Reloaded. Well, there is a reason for that; this post concerns one of the new posts on the dev blog.
The new blog post comes from Techmech and states that they have made a lot of progress against cheaters from three of the major cheat makers. He also goes and gives some screenshots from some of the cheat makers posts/sites to give examples. Which is nice and dandy, it is nice to see that they’re actively getting the cheaters out of the game to make it a more enjoyable experience.
The part I find odd is, that they’re pleading to cheaters to give up their hacking ways to play clean and fair with everyone else. In no way do they get to have their old account back and their retur
Would Mass Effect make a good mmo?

This is more of a question for you all than any sort of announcement; do you think Mass Effect would make a good mmo? If you’ve been following some of the mmo news sites/blogs, you may have seen that Bioware is open to the idea of branching this series in the mmoverse, so it is a possibility this could be a reality someday in the future, what are your thoughts?
I myself am a bit on the edge on this, on one hand I think it would be a fun concept for a mmo, if they kept the core ideas and mechanics of the game intact. Mass Effect is, at least in my opinion a very fun rpg. It mixes the action of a shooter game, with the elements of an rpg, and the karma effects we are oh so used to in Kotor. (Loved those games)
On the other hand, I am also wondering how well they can pull it off. Going fr
Conquer Online coming to the iPad
I am sure many of you have heard of Conquer Online, the game has been around for years, and still has a decent sized fan base, with constant updates. But did you know this tidbit of information, that Conquer Online is making its way to the iPad. Staying true to their core game, this will also be free-to-play as well, for those of you interested in it.
Now, I don’t own an iPad, I am also not a fan of Mac or their products. Why, you may ask? Well in as few words as possible is that they’re overpriced and not as flexible as other hardware. (No external storage slots? No thank you) But what does excite me is mmos making their way to tablet pcs. Which I mean, it’s entirely surprising being that they already have been on mobiles for years now. But the interactivity and big
GhostX Ultimate Open Beta
Gamekiss (odd name, yea) has announced yesterday that GhostX Ultimate (Which is a revision of the original game) is going in Open beta…..Wasn’t this game hosted by like three people previously? I could have sworn I’ve played it from at least two different hosts, luckily though it does seem that this host is a bit more determined to keep the game, since they have been busy updating it.
If you never heard of the game, it’s basically an action RPG. The art style does seem anime inspired, and the graphics do look fairly nice. The game has players joining their nanobot companions in a battle against invading monsters from another realm.
As I mentioned, the game is called GhostX Ultimate now, with the new name does come new features one of which includes new mounts
Rise of Immortals on Steam

Steam has another free to play game in it’s growing arsenal today, and it’s called Rise of Immortals. Not to be confused with PWE’s upcoming title War of the Immortals….I can’t be the only one who thought of that game when I saw this title, am I? Though chances are War of the Immortals may hit steam eventually as well.
If you never heard of Rise of Immortals, it is a multiplayer online battle arena game, aka another dota clone. (Not like that is a bad thing) What sets the game apart is that it doesn’t focus on the more traditional account leveling system we have seen, but instead it allows players to advance their Immortals through a skill tree, allowing them to customize and upgrade their characters. From looking around it seems the game does have mixed
New Humble Bundle Unveiled

Not sure how many of you follow this, but today a new Humble Bundle was released. The new ‘bundle’ this time is for Frozen Synapse, which is a single/multi player turned based strategy game. This is the only game in the bundle, but to make the deal a bit sweeter, if you pay more than the average amount, you will also receive the Frozenbyte bundle as well. The bundles are redeemable on Steam, Desura, and Direct2Drive. You can also download a DRM-free copy from the bundle page after you donate.
First, for those of you who don’t know what the Humble Bundle is. It is a “Pay what you want” model, which offers the players the chance to pay what they want for a group of indie games, and decide where their money goes too, you can choose to give it all to onPWE Announces New MMO- War of the Immortals

Documentary mistakenly uses game footage
So wow, if you haven’t seen it yet, prepare to get a laugh at someone else’s expense. ITV recently put up a documentary that was about Colonerl Gaddhafi’s support of the IRA, it in you can see ‘actual’ footage of a helicopter being shot down. But here is the kicker, the footage used was from the shooter Arma 2.
If you never heard of itv, they’re a rather large public tv network in the UK. I figure with this stunt they will be even more popular, but not in the way they may have hoped. Apparently back in the 80s they didn’t have as much polygons as they do nowadays, and people snapped when they moved. But in all seriousness, it is obvious in the clip that it wasn’t any actual footage, and I have no idea if someone really was co
City of Heroes Freedom Lauched today

Yes, yet another p2p switches over to the free to play model, the latest game being, City of Heroes. This was actually announced awhile back, but now it has actually gone live. So if you didn’t give it a chance before, now is your chance to try out this game.
If you’re not too familiar with City of Heroes, it’s a game where you become a super hero. It allows players to play out their geeky comic book fantasy of being a super hero and donning on a cape to fight for justice, truth, and all that crap…..Yea, I prefer playing the villain more. But in all seriousness, the game was received well upon its release, and even I knew quite a few people that played it.
City of Heroes Freedom is the new name for the game after going free to play, in which the company has dec
More news on Fallout MMo Legal battles

So I was checking my mmo news sites, like I tend to do, and ran across an interesting article over at Rock, Paper, Shotgun. This one concerns the Fallout Online that Interplay has been working on, and Bethesda’s attacks against them.
So first a little back story, as some of you know Fallout was sold by Interplay to Bethesda, and that Interplay reserved the rights to a mmo, which at the time was agreed upon. Now that the mmo is still in the works, Bethesda has sent a string of attacks to try to stop the mmo from being made. Flash forward to now, and we find out that their latest attempt at a restraining order has been barred. Here is a little tidbit from the article:
“Plaintiff has not demonstrated that it will be irreparably prejudiced if the requested ex
