Divine Soul (Closed Beta) Review
So I decided to take a shot at one of the MMOs out there and I happen to come across Divine Soul. Its basically an action MMO based on instanced dungeons.
Story:
There is a story based on certain quests that appear at specific levels, but the cutscenes are on auto and you can't read it at your own pace. Its either watch it play out or skip it altogether. I chose to skip it.
Graphics:
The graphics for the game are nice. I would put them comparable to Aion or something similar to that. They use a lot of lightning as well. You can turn it off, but much of the feel of the game feels lost as a result. Character customization isn't that great. You have like 3 faces and 3 hair styles to choose from. You can edit the color of the hair but it doesn't make a big impact. The overall determining factor of how you look is based on your equipment.
Gameplay:
The game begins with character creation. You have a choice between Slasher, Fighter and Mage. Slasher and Mage are female and Fighter is male
A Browser Game Review: Ninja Manager
I normally don't do browser game reviews, but this is one that I've really gotten into in my free time over the last year. Its called Ninja Manager. Its based on the Naruto anime/manga. If you google it it should be the first one to appear. It is meant to be a slow game to take your time with.
Story:
The concept of the game is simple. You pick a starting ninja and your goal is to collect all the crystal shards and ultimately defeat the Kyuubi (Nine Tailed Fox). There's written dialogue for each character between chapters of the story. The problem is that sometimes, the writing does not feel like its something the characters would actually say.
Graphics:
Its a browser game so I didn't expect much. All of the major characters (and some minor) are present in the game in the form of chara
Kingdom Heroes Online Review
So here we are again. Another attempt at a Three Kingdoms game and this time its published by Aeria games.
Story:
The story is the same as always. You have to join up with 1 of the 3 major factions during the era of the three kingdoms. They are Wei, Wu, and Shu. Each faction has different principles but they make no real difference. It only serves to determine who you play with and who you end up fighting against when the time for conflicts come.
Graphics:
The graphics are nothing spectacular by today's standards. They are below average, but still better than some of the other stuff out there. There's a limited number of faces and hair styles to choose from, but its enough for you to be able to make a small distinction between you and other players. However, its not enough to make a unique character. Your equipment will determine how you mainly look.
Gameplay:
You begin the game by choosing your character. You have a choice between a warrior, bow user, magic support, or magic offense. Its
RF (Rising Force) Online Review
Unlike many of the other games I've played, RF is one of the few PvP games that I have enjoyed for a while. Its been out for a while now and its one of those games that people either love it or hate it. There's rarely a middle ground on the decisions of players for this game.
Story:
The backstory is available online. The only thing you really need to know is that the 3 races (Accretion, Bellato, Cora) are all suppose to be different evolutions of human. If you want a more simple explanation, Accretions are the tough melee that suck with magic, Bellato are space dwarfs/rangers, and Cora are the space elves.
Graphics:
There is not much area for customization in the game. There's only a few hair and face styles to choose from. Most players around the same level wear similar armor. The enemies don't have much of a variety at first but it improves later on assuming you last long enough to get there.
Gameplay:
The game itself begins with you picking one of the 3 races. Each account
Dynasty Warriors Online Review
This game came out a few years back around 2006 or so. It was based on the Dynasty Warriors 5 system with some tweaks and adjustments and limited progression (god i hated this). It still remains a fairly popular game in China and Japan due to its free to play status. There is no English version of the game although there have been numerous previews for it.
Story:
The game itself follows different events of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The difference is that this time the players decide the results. Every 2 weeks there is a competition for territory and if 1 group wins, the game moves on to the next era with a major game update. The update resets the territories as well and the new rulers and officers appear to match.
Graphics:
By today's standards, the graphics are still pretty good. They resemble the late PS2 era graphics. There is a nice amount of character customization so it is hard to find people who match you exactly. The variety in playable characters are nice but there is al
Martial Empires Review
I decided to take a look at this game because of the fact that it claims to be a "martial arts" games but has a uniquely western look. The best way I can describe this is that it is a fairly poor knock off of Aion. It looks like it has potential, but the execution of it is heavily flawed which causes the cons of the system to greatly outweigh the benefit of it.
Story:
N/A - I didn't care about the NPCs. The introduction was not interesting so I just skipped parts 3 to 6 of it. Its just the NPC talking about their town.
Graphics:
The best way I can describe this is that it is a similar look to Aion but with very little customization. You only have a selection of 3 hair styles and faces but with like 6 hair and clothing colors to choose from for each of the 3 classes. The enemies you encounter are spread across several levels even when they are too weak to create a false sense of diversity. The quality of the enemy models also do not comapre to the quality of the backgroun or
Digimon Battle (Online) Review
So with spring break starting I had a chance to sign up for Digimon Online open beta. This was one of the games I was interested a few years back and it is finally available in english. Digimon is a concept similar to Pokemon so you should know what to expect. The game itself is based on a turn based system.
Story:
N/A - I have no clue what's going on. Just jump in and go for it.
Graphics:
The graphics are not impressive but are by no means bad. This game came out a few years back and can be best described as an improvement over the graphics of games such as Conquer Online or any of those other games made by that company. They do their best to make use of effects for skills and abilities. Certain enemies also drop items that give your characters some customization, but is not widely available. There is a nice variety to enemies with only a few that look like they have been recolored.
Gameplay:
The game starts off with just picking a character and a starter digimon. In the beginning, th
Warriors of the Three Kingdoms Review
Warriors of the Three Kingdoms is another attempt to make an MMO based on the 3 Kingdoms era in China. This one goes for the action RPG feel which is different from most of the other MMOs. There are a good variety of gameplay options to satisfy PvE and PvP players but if you do not have an excellent internet connection, you will experience problems.
Story:
N/A - 3 Kingdoms Era, you join a side and go to war. That's pretty much it.
Graphics:
The graphics are not too bad, but I find that it is still below average. The main problem is that there is no variety. Players who are near your level will wear similar armor. The minor face differences are not noticeable. The enemies often look like recolored versions of the same characters. The skills are only noticeable by the huge trail effects they leave behind.
Gameplay:
Character creation is very limited. You get a name, 3 faces, and 2 hair styles that look exactly the same. You also pick which nation you want to be part of. This cannot be changed later on so make it count.
There are 4 character types each that can use 2 different unique weapons. For the most part, the lower the difficulty is on the weapon, the more practical at is. The high di
Lost Saga CB Review

Click for fullsize
Lost Saga is the latest RPG published by OGPlanet. They operate specifically in North America so if you're anywhere else, chances are you won't be able to play this. Fortunately, you're not missing out on much. Lost Saga is based around room matches where players just fight each other. That is all. There's so little to do that I can't even write a full blown review of it.
Story:
N/A
Graphics:
Graphics are fairly poor. They look almost exactly like characters from Grand Chase. If you don't know what it looks like, imagine cel shaded disproportionate characters with minimal detail. Skill effects are poor. Character customization is very limited as well. There is very little customization if any. All the stages seem to also have similar layouts with just skin changes.
Gameplay:
The game starts off as a crappy tutorial. All you get is an "Assassin" class character that lasts for like 10 hours. All you have is a shop and matches to set up with other players. There are a few other characters available but you have to buy them in the game's store. These are Soldier, Iron Knight, and Mage. That is all. There is almost no customization. There are a few co
Dragon Oath CB Review
Dragon Oath is an MMO published by ChangYou. Before this I have never even heard of them but apparently they're in the works for other MMOs in the US as well. The best way I can describe this is that it is like an updated and improved version of JX2. Although not by much, the little differences make the game feel nearly completely different. The basis for the game itself is similar to JX2, Zhu Xian, and 9Dragons. The key difference is that they don't put any restrictions on joining clans.

Story:
N/A - Something about Song Dynasty or something. Go read it on the website
Graphics:
By today's standards, this is nothing amazing. The character looks are very limited and the only customizability so far is that of your clan's wardrobe. However, each of the clans have a significantly different look which is a plus. Its easy to identify who is what clan and what their general abilities are. Even though this is nice, more customization in general would have been nice. The monsters look fairly different and there isn't much repeat of character models except for mobs that are involved in the special events. There are no repeats for quite some time too.
Gameplay:
Character creation is very
