Seoul orders curfew on web games for under-18s

South Korea has ordered the operators of the three most popular South Korean online games to block overnight access by users under the age of 18.

The curfew is a response to the case last month of a young couple who allowed their baby to starve to death while they raised a virual child in an online game. The tragedy shocked the country and sparked calls for safeguards against web addiction.

Gaming is big business in Korea, with some 30 percent of the population regularly playing online games from such industry leaders as NCSoft and Nexon, which together control nearly a quarter of the global market. The domestic market is estimated to be worth about $2.4bn, with exports valued at more than $1bn.

The country's culture ministry on Tuesday ordered the operators of the MapleStory, Mabinogi and Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds games toblock access by users under 18 between midnight and 8am by September. Other games would follow suit later.

"We fully accept the gaming industry's potential

Man marries a videogame

I now pronounce you husband and what?!

In another sign that the world is about to collapse, mutiple blogs are reporting that a fan of the Nintendo DS dating sim Love Plus (you know, the really creepy one) liked his virtual lady so much that he decided to marry her. For real.

Apparently, a Japanese gamer known as 'Sal9000' was officially wed to Nene Anegasaki, one of the game's three virtual girlfriends, in what must have been the weirdest ceremony in the history of ceremonies. We can only assume that Ms. Pac-Man was the maid of honor.

While the two aren't planning a honeymoon -- after all, one of them is a VIDEO GAME -- they did hold a small 'reception' in Japan for friends, family and the media, indicating that this is most likely little more than the looniest video game publicity stunt we've seen in sometime. Check out this video recap by Boing Boing, complete with footage of the happy, er, couple:

Assassin's Creed Lineage film

I almost jinzzed my pants when I saw Assassin's Creed Lineage movie on Youtube.

Many gamers played Assassin’s Creed video game. Since 2007, Ubisoft sold more than 8 million copies of Assassin’s Creed. The company will launch the new Assassin’s Creed II next month, November.  Today, the developer/publisher has debuted the first of three Assassin's Creed: Lineage short films on YouTube that expand the fiction even further.  They reveal the characters and events that lead up to Assassin's Creed II -- primarily involving the father of the game's protagonist, Ezio, during the Italian Renaissance period. Nestled in the Laurentians town of Piedmont, Quebec, this unassuming studio is responsible for visual effects in such Hollywood blockbuster films as 300, Sin City, Journey to the Center of the Earth and Snakes on a Plane. here is the 1st short flim:www.youtube.com/watch

Game of Scamming (part 1)

Game of Scamming (Part One)

Have someone tried to scam you before? Scam is someone trying to trick the victim to get what he/she wants.

Lately in the MMORPG, there are a lot scamming. People is trying to gain money faster. Beware of such scam as Stall/Trade Scam, Friend/Allies Scam, Drop Scam, Feminine Charm. Back from Dead and etc. In part one, we will discuss the two main scam: Stall/Trade Scam, Friend/Allies Scam.

Throughout my game experiences, I have saw and heard many different kind of scams. I am going to talk about five different types of scams that I have experienced and how can you prevent them

Stall/Trade Scam

Stall/trade scam is one of the most common scam on the game. Stall/trade scam is when a user or a vendor is offering an item for a stated price and sending you a different item of lesser value. There is epic item on sale. The seller is telling you how great it is and giving a great price on it. During the trade, you are giving the seller the price that you discussed with him but the seller immediately changed the item that looks like the epic item but it is just a plain item. Always check the status of the item before you click on the "Confirm" or "Ok&quo

Kill GM

Have You Ever Wonder What Will Happen When You tried to Attack a Game Master?

It happened 2 monthes ago, my cabal buddies and I were grinding in the Mutant Forest (lvl 125 + and a War Map) and all the sudden [GM]SPOON showed up. He was just going through channels and check for bots.  He was just dropping by to say hi and ask us couple questions.

Note: GMs on Cabal's names are always RED and in numbers to us when we are in the War Map and the War Channel because s/he got no nation and we can target them.

BUT, JC and I decided to Attack and see if we can kill the GM.

Result:

You Die!

lol

My motivation: I saw a screenshot of someone actually killed a GM but it was [GM]Sixteen. He is a cool GM.

And I know GM has Crazy DEF

A. INTRO

I. What is this?
This guide is designed to give you a better understanding of what a noob is, how to recognize them, some details about them, and how to avoid or get rid of them. It mostly applies to online forums, which are the main targets of migrating noobs.

II. Defining 'Noob'
Contrary to the belief of many, a noob/n00b and a newbie/newb are not the same thing. Newbs are those who are new to some task* and are very beginner at it, possibly a little overconfident about it, but they are willing to learn and fix their errors to move out of that stage. n00bs, on the other hand, know little and have no will to learn any more. They expect people to do the work for them and then expec
