Ryzom is Free to Play
In 2004 a juggernuat MMORPG saw the light of public release, in the wake of its release other MMOs are the market felt themselves being pushed from center stage. One such title was The Saga of Ryzom, now simply Ryzom, released by French developer Nevrax. Over the past few years they have released chapter updates and implemented a New Player Experience system.
Now they are announcing this Wednesday Ryzm goes free to play. All content will be available for new players with a limitation on the level they can attain in all skills.Yumeroh, Ryzom’s Community Laison, had this to say:
“We are pleased to announce that from now on, players that create a new account can play Ryzom without time or place limits. Instead, free trial accounts are now limited to a maximum level of 125 in all di

Champions Online: New Archetype & Vivox Voice Chat
Champions Online unvelied its next archetype release, the Inventor.
"The Inventor is an incredibly gifted creator of advanced technology, using unconventional ideas that the average person would think impossible. Those quirky designs get the job done, with only the occasional unintended side effect."
For those of you with gold accounts, this will be one more bonus. Others will be required to spend their precious C-store cash to accquire this. It's small items like these that help keep the free to play market a float.
Along with this announcement we've learned that the Vivox voice chat system has been integrated. As a long time online game player, voice chat is a pricessless feature to have. Adding this feature to a free to play game is indeed a bonus for th
Pirates of the Burning Sea is now Free to Play
Pirates of the Burning Sea has gone free to play. As seems the trend lately for low grossing MMOs, PotBS is offering a free subscription option. The options available seem more reasonable to others who have gone to the free to play model and even offers upgrade to players who have subscribed in the past. For just one month subscription you account is upgraded to the next level permanently. This Premium level offers most of what players have come to expect for PotBS except for what they are calling “Premium Missions”, which will still have to be purchased. The next level up from this is “Captain’s Club”, offering bonus’ such as double treasure for conquests and experience bonuses.
While in a normal subscription model I’d object to paying for e
Lord of Ultima Update
When I first began to play Lord of Ultima, I was a bit cynical. It struck me as just another browser based game trying to capitalize on an old successful intellectual property. While I was only partially right, in the end the game turned out to be very entertaining for those who enjoy Civilization style games. After my initial coverage of its launch my wife and I continued to play it for a few months. After a short time our areas were discovered by an alliance that had an eye on the territory and offered to join up with us. Kindly agreeing, we set about populating the land to prevent rival alliances any foothold in our area. Otherwise they could easily send in resources and overrun us from the inside.
Our guild was based out of Sweden so we were a good fit for coverage in the off hours and
Reliving the Glory of EverQuest, Part 5
It had been a year since the 1999 release of EverQuest, one of the first largest 3d Massive Multiplayer games on the market. In my opinion Everquest was one of the truest translations of table top gaming for its time, surpassing even the experiences of the fabled Gold Box series by SSI - famous for their simulation of the table top experience people had been enjoying since the 70’s. While the Gold Box games favored strategic battles in turn-based combat, the world of Everquest was all in realtime and far less forgiving.
Before the actual release and for a few months after my friends and I were hooked on this fabricated fantasy world. Everyday we were either playing the game, talking about the game, or researching what we could find about the game. We literally ate, slept, and breathe
