Wraith of the Lich...Qu**r? WT*? When Censoring just gets F*cking Ret*rded.

As I just so happened to stumble onto Yahoo this morning, despite the fact that my job bans everything fun on the internet, I managed to type MMO in the search engine for news and find the most interesting thing. Apparently, Star Wars takes personal offence to being referenced to in a homosexual light. Yes, because how Jedi’s adopt little boys under their wing to call them Master isn’t questionable at all. Now, anyone who might of stumbled onto my personal blog on this site might just notice my certain taste in entertainment. While I refuse to acknowledge whether my sense of fun is purely a joke or an actual peek into my personal life (Where is the fun of telling?), it still amazes me how corporate censors still fly off the handle when trying to ‘cover up’ the wonderful world of ‘omg, He iz the gayz?’.

Back to my point, Star Wars Online declared and censored terms that are considered questionable at all. Excuse me while I point and laugh at this. Any 12 year old who has cable TV can make a dirty joke, gay or otherwise, about any mannerisms, words, speech, text, pictures, or relationships involving anything, but the catch is, that as long as the intent is sexually referring to intercourse between a male and a woman, or at the very least two hot chics, is completely okay and not frowned upon in the least bit. My guess is that even two ugly chics are okay, since these kids have never seen a real boob,outside of their sister and mother, in their life before anyways.  While the rest of the straights are completely allowed to giggle and ogle half naked digital girls in game (that are mostly played by other men in the first place) and chuckle on the sexual overtones in their quest lines, God forbid you make a comment about any ‘fencing’ or ‘long camping trips’ before one too many lines turn into an uncomfortable arguement about cucumber like objects where something happens to if it's played with too much.

Star Wars isn’t the first to take matters like these. As mentioned before, and recently in another article around this site, Warcraft got into plenty of hot water, banning guilds that claimed themselves to be LBGT friendly, but I’m sure after reevaluating just how much gay porn goes on in their RP servers, as anyone who has RP’ed in Silvermoon can tell you, they might of promptly taken back their statements with their tails between their legs. (*insert another gay joke here*)

Personally, I believe that instead of wasting efforts on trying to ‘Stop the Spread of the Gay’, game developers should concentrate on the other evils of online social interaction. Why not focus efforts on…Gee, I don’t know, stopping 30 year old men hitting on underage girls, showing up at their houses, and getting busted by cops for trying to reenact Japanese porn? Oh, and trying to stop the gold farmers? Fixing your glichy games and putting out new content that is actually interesting? Yes, I’m sure that the ‘Gay Fear’ is much more important. Assholes.
