Star Wars Galaxies... Time to pull the plug.... Dead!!!!

Hey guys, today is a day full of strong emotions, at least it is for me... Yesterday LucasArts and SOE announced that Star Wars Galaxies is going to be closed down for good in December 15, 2011. The servers are going to be taken down and the game is going to move into the history books of gaming…

I am a bit overwhelm right now because Galaxies was probably one of my most beloved mmos back in 2004, I played the game a lot and for some reason it left a big mark in my life… I really have tons of memories about this game, I remember when I used to play a master powers and master enhancement jedi, running around in cloak mode and getting people off guard lol! How many speeders and jetpacks I destroyed… omg!!!

The reasons are kind obvious at this point, is an old game that have been stagnant for a couple of years now with a low population playing it, this is without mentioning all the drama and controversy that this game created back in 2005 with the NGE update that changed the game completely... The fact that the patch was added a week after the ‘Trials of Obi Wan’ expansion made things worst…

I don’t really think that Galaxies is going to be killed for those reasons alone, keep in mind that a new Star Wars mmo is going to be released soon, it’s probably a bit counterproductive to have two Star Wars mmo at the same time, especially when one is old and hated by a lot of people…  That is not going to help the new game at all…

I don’t know who took the initiative, LucasArts or SOE???? I don’t really know, but my gut tells me that LucasArts is the one who always wanted to pull the trigger…

Lets hope TOR is not more of the same thing… At least let’s hope that there is not NGE2 in TOR…
