Hey peeps, it looks like Arenanet is taking our account security very seriously... I recommend that you guys read the official developers blog (link below)....

I know that is just a game and it shouldnt be a big deal at all but learning the basic principles about internet and virtual security can really save us some trouble in the real world... You see, the security measures that we need to take in our games are not very different from the ones that we should have in our important stuff like CC and other things... Keep that in mind...
In short, let me tell you a small compendium about it...
1. Arenanet recommends that you use an unique password for each important account you have. If your Guild Wars 2 password is the same password you use elsewhere... our friendly developer thinks that you should change your GW2 password right now!!!!
2. Strong Passwords are not good enough!!! The hackers already know your password when they hack you... If you use your password in multiple places and one of them gets hacked and the information is stolen... The hacker will try to enter the information in other places like games, paypal and other websites... GW2 is not the only thing that will get hacked if you use a single password for everything...
3. A single password that is very complicated is not safe by 2012 standards... back in the 1990s it was kinda cool to have a single password but that is no longer good anymore... Get multiple password and do your best to memorize them or write them down in a piece of paper, then put the paper away in a secret place.
4. Hackers usually try to guess usernames and passwords in certain patterns that are the most common ones... Here is one example:
Username: John Dow
Password: Password
5. Make good use of the new email authentication feature... If you get emails telling you that someone in other country is trying to use your account... You know that someone already have your password... Change it!!! And make sure that you dont have spyware...
Ten years ago the whole topic about internet security wasnt a big deal but right now the hackers are getting smarter... So we better grow up a brain and do our best to keep them away from our stuff... Remember what happened to the PSN, SOE, Zappos, LinkedIn, Valve and Blizzard... All of them have been hacked at some point!!!!
