I See Repeats...

Yup, I am bored of the same MMO and MMORPG, one after the other. There is nothing new and I am so sick of seeing the same exact games being rolled out like twinkies on a facotry line ready to be shipped out in the same boxes and to be put in the same gas stations... Well you get the point.

I've been searching for quite a while for a new MMO or MMORPG that doesn't plain suck. Everyone I try though feels like the previous one. Since when did having "mounts", "PvP", "PvE", and "Guilds" make an MMO or MMORPG amazing? Those are features in EVERY MMO and MMORPG! It's nothing new so it baffles me to see games advertising these features like they are something amazing and brand new!

Also I'm sick of seeing this in every game: Get a quest that tells you to kill 1000 mobs. Grind 1000 mobs until you almost die of absolute boredom. Turn quest... Only to recieve the same exact quest with a different mob name. Pretty exciting stuff there.

And I swear, everytime I hear a company say "linear features" it literally makes me die a little inside because I know it's usually a big-fat over produced lie! Maybe this isn't fair to say about ALL MMO'S and MMORPG's, but after playing through RIFT's world events... well let's just say they aren't very special when they happen over and over. And over. And over. All. Day. Long.

My question is this: Do you think we are ever going to get an MMO or MMORPG that redefines how we think about the genre? Personally, with the way things seem to be going I doubt that's ever going to happen.
