Cyber Bullying and MMOSIte. Are you a victim?

So we all see them from time to time on our feeds kicking and screaming their troll lololo and causing others more than discomfort yet driving others away. Some of us delete them and still yet others feed them, and in my case I like to bring them out in the light and show them for who they really are.
Case in point; this last April Fools we saw many great articles abounding on MMOSite with all kinds of subjects and different levels of writing, yet in all they were in good taste and good humor. Alas some of us and our friends and/or family were subject to trolling in response to our sincere appreciation of this wacky holiday the world shares.
A forum friend of mine Pelagato wrote a nice article that was short and sweet, easy to tell it was a April Fools joke yet for some reason people just raged against him and his article. There was the typical premeditated cowards who used ‘Guest’ to respond to the thread, yet there was also another pretend intellect troll who caught my eye.
Let's take a look at the anatomy of the opening of my lure to bring out this troll and expose him for his folly...

Unlike other's others, I don't not find this to be an "April Fool's" joke. If you're are going to write an article it has to be TRUE true. I really don't not know understand how you get published. You've have repeatedly lied in your articles(cites?), and show no talent at writing whatsoever. As if that wasn't not bad enough, now you decide that it is okay to just completely make up news stories and publish them like they are real?. Others may find that cute, but yet I find it offensive and wrong. I really hope in the future that people like you don't not get published. or eEven better than that, you do get published; but yet at the end of the month, when eveyrone everyone gets their gold, you just get a message in yyour inbox saying,: "sSorry, but yet we don't not pay people for false stories."



Now that we got the grammar and spelling out of the way the message is more readable and we can see the message ‘Belligerent’ was trying to get across:

First sign of a non native english speaker is the excessive use of conjunctions. Native english speaking people know that don’t, you’re, you’ve and other conjunctive verbs are not real words and only used in narrative contexts in movie scripts and fiction books. Proper english never uses them.

First sign of trolling is the Ad Hominem fallacies and attacks against the original author. Here Belligerent asserts his opinion ‘I do not find this to be an “April Fools” joke.’ followed shortly by the Straw Man fallacy ‘If [an] article is written, an article [must] be true.’ thus asserting that the author is wrong and should be discredited regardless of his participation of the globally recognized holiday or not.

Belligerents fallacy of false clause was easily apparent to a moderately educated person as myself since the writer was obviously participating in the event just as numerous others. However, regardless of Belligerents opinion of how articles should be written, the article was a valid April Fools gag. Simply having Belligerent assert the personal fallacy that all articles must be true is not enough to prevent the world from participating in this globally recognized holiday celebrating creativity, wit and prose.

Needless to say I saw all this in the matter of about 30 seconds, yet I was going to go easy on the kid since it was an obvious troll against my friend. So I followed up with some troll bait:

Again with the conjunctions >.<, so our troll lives up to their misspelled name sake and responded belligerently. Thinking this would be the perfect opportunity to slap his hand (metaphorically) and let him off easy I followed up with a simple irrelevant conclusion fallacy that would leave a bad taste in his mouth, and hopefully make him reconsider being rude to others.

Yet our troll does not stop here, he goes and logs off, navigates back to the site thread and posts a supportive message for himself against myself and my friend. How do I know this you ask? Well let us let the grammar and spelling speak for itself ;)

So just because guest did not capitalize any normal points and did not use apostrophes in his writing, it did not throw me off the fact that Belligerent wrote this in his own support. One can easily see the tense and prose is exactly the same bad english, the use of ALL CAPS to emphasise words needlessly is the same and oddly enough the poor vocabulary makes it a near perfect match.

Also there was some confusion with this that is commonly found in Belligerents writing. Mostly in the case of when he is trying to sound intelligent we find odd word usage to describe things like biased and incestuous above. It is odd to describe things you offer as better with such condescending words, and in the case of incestuous (incestuous [ɪnˈsɛstjʊəs] adj 1. relating to or involving incest an incestuous union 2. guilty of incest 3. (Law) Obsolete resulting from incest an incestuous bastard 4. resembling incest in excessive or claustrophobic intimacy) it is obvious that the writer had no idea what it means. >.< Such is Belligerent’s modus operandi to a T.

Basically the message Belligerent really wanted to say was:

I am 100% [sure] this site [does not have any] real information. The stuff here is shit [everyday]. Sloppy, no_talent, idiots post here. Go to: onrpg, hommorpg.com, tentonhomo [for better sites to write for].

Game [articles/publications] these days are shit, in general. Particularly the [articles here] inhabited by the ass-clowns that visit this site.

So needless to say I was not amused at the Rhetoric from this troll that not only bashed one of my favorite holidays, not only bashed one of my friends, and not only pretended to be intelligent about it; yet he also bashed my favorite blog site: MMOSite and the many wonderful writers here. I have had enough of this trolls malice and general broad sweeping hatred. So I pressed the matter with a little of his own medicine.

Belligerents message of hatred was a broad and deeply disturbing message that assaulted a great deal that I hold in high esteem. Logical fallacies and atrocious grammar aside this kid was down right disgusting. To top that off he was attempting to pawn off his true motive and feelings on poor old Guest (T.T) who never hurt a fly in his life!!

So I did what any civilize writer would do. I called him out on his game and held him accountable for his actions and behavior.

Zero proof? Like hell! The ‘proof is in the puddin’ they say around here. Notice the return to poorly used conjunctions, yet other than that it is the exact same grammar errors, exact same spelling and word usage problems... toss in a couple apostrophes into Guest’s last statements and they would be exact matches. >.<

I was amazed that I predicted exactly what he would do to a T. So I affirmed a few consequents and denied a few antecedents as a true laugh in his face, as I knew he was a pretend intellect at this point for certain.

You can't not go and try to make other's others sound like the bad guys when your comments are as rude as yours are. You just look like you enjoy trolling.

Oh what a gem! So let me walk through this telling piece here. First out the gate is the sweeping generalization defense fallacy where Belligerent claims that he is not ‘belittling and humiliating’ others by simply expressing his ‘opinion’. Well lets look back up to his first statement, how much of his original post was opinion and how much was bashing? Yes one sentence: “ I do not find this to be an "April Fools" joke.” That is it. His opinion ends here and his bashing begins right after it.

Continuing on he also attempts to use irrational correlation logical fallacies to undermine the integrity of my arGUments by going back to those cool urban dictionary words ‘chillax and GTFO.’ Further he attempts an irrelevant conclusion fallacy argument by summarizing my commentary to be a ‘go shoot yourself in the head’ comment. Now, in retrospect I have to admit that was a little over the top as I digressed into a more personal areas of feelings for generally under educated people as a whole. >.<

In this light I had to guide the discussion back on track and help the poor boy out because he was just not getting the point that I could see through him like glass. I was speaking metaphorically and he was drawing a non metaphorical meaning so I had to derail his train before he got out of control.

I never told you to go shoot yourself, why would I ask you to do something so base that you could not do yourself? No, I quite frankly told you that I should put this bullet in your head and that is what I just did, hence the reason you are still here eating crow pie and dishing out bull shit ;)

So I basically showed him I could see his game clearly and summarized the allegory of the bullet, where I was meaning the post/response to his last post, and was done with shenanigans.
Yet as you can guess the kid would not go down without a fight. I love the fighting spirit it challenges us to be better than we were, move beyond our comfort zones and reach for higher standards and make awesome blogs like this one. Our next gem was only an hour away...

That just makes it worse; though however, because now you're [would be] saying you should shoot me,. which Such can be taken as a personal threat, and you can get in huge trouble for such things that.

I am being threatened now just for sharing my opinion that another "April Fools" article was uneeded unneeded when mmosite had already had that covered plenty enough. I have a cConstitutional rRight to fFreedom of sSpeech without my life being threatened. If you get the urge to threaten me again I will be reporting you. There is absolutely no need for such behavior.

And please don't get mad at me. I could have reported you for the threat you made already. I am just trying to be nice and give you the benefit of the doubt in assuming that you don't not usually go around threatening to shoot people.

Oh hohohohoooo.... I see what you did there :3 dirty pool but I like it! So where do we start? At the beginning. Poor old Belligerent here really tried hard to figure out how to use the word assume. However, it is more clear that he was trying to mince words and make my words mean slightly different things then they did mean. This is a common troll tactic when you go them on the ropes, complete fabrication and ‘reporting’ are common tools of children trolls who lack the more sophisticated tact one gains with a high school education in America.

Notice the complete lack of remorse for tearing down Pelagato in his original comment? ‘I do not know how you get published.’ or ‘ you have repeatedly lied in your articles, and show no talent what so ever.’ or ‘I really hope in the future that people like you do not get published...’ calling his article ‘offensive and wrong’ and insinuating that all MMOsite articles ‘has to be TRUE.’

In later context, under the guise of a Guest account, Belligerent continues to hound Pelagato to this very day. One can easily see the same badgering and belittling in each Guest account post targeting my friend and on the exact same lines of thought as this OP. Which brings us to the crux of my blog here to day.

The United States of America does have a Constitutional Right protecting the free and unfettered speech of American Citizens and it is known as the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. Now I am not certain if Belligerent even lives in America, yet given his poor grammar and lousy logic I would definitely believe he is a resident of Maine. Never the less, all humans are created equal and these inalienable rights should be accorded every man, woman and child. This I agree.

Yet no one can stand behind this protection to use their opinions, words or beliefs as weapons to cause great emotional harm, public ridicule and profane use. Would that Belligerent was actually expressing a humble opinion I would leave well enough alone, yet he thinks he is slick and can twist and contort the truth around to make him appear the simple victim in a tirade of violence and overt threats.

Belligerence in the MMOSite community represents what bullies in our schools and abroad are. Belligerence chose to target Pelagato because of his foreign status and his weak english writing skills. Belligerence was doing what all bullies do, they find the weak, the uncertain, and the demoralized and they prey on them and break them down causing them great grief and strife in their lives.

When confronted they try to lie, cheat and completely deny their way out of the actual reality of what they got caught doing. The only way to stop cyber bullies is to get them in front of the community and let others see first hand the despicable acts they partake in. Now I have laid it all out here before you my fellow writers, friends and readers. I hope you will join me in quashing this epidemic of cyber bullying and hold these cowards accountable for their actions.

No longer do we have to tolerate their verbal assaults, no longer do we have to put up with their poor logic and faulty thinking. We can cast them out of our community if we stand united against the corruption of heart and mind!




In closing I would like to say yes I do not normally threaten people on line, yet I do use harsh language against cyber bullies. I was remiss to use bullets to allude to my posts, and I apologize to anyone who was offended by the relation. The allegory was a rather educated one and not easily spotted; However, I will not let my rash judgment become waisted. I stand defending my friends, my family, my community and my MMOSite... who stands with me!
