First batch of screens for Star Wars: The Old Republic unleashed

It's sneak peek time! It's been a long time coming indeed, but now, we finally get to see what we can expect in that new Star Wars MMORPG that BioWare's cooking up. They've finally released the first batch of screens for Star Wars: The Old Republic - and they're huge! Better wait for the full page to load up before clicking those pics!
We got light sabers and Force action right here. It's all impressive, to say the least. The environments you see in the screens below were taken from two different planets: Tython and Korriban. Now I wanna be a Jedi again. No wait, I wanna be a Sith! Or... a wookie? *gurrggggle*

No Rush: Blizzard open to consoles but doesn't mind not being first
Ding, Baby 2: First LVL 80 Death Knight in World of Warcraft
Only a few days after the world's first level 80 (Nymh the warlock) in World of Warcraft, we have the world's first LVL 80 Death Knight. On November 15, 7:00pm CEST, Dessembrae from the Eternal Corpse Council on the European server, Mazrigos officially became the world's first Death Knight. Not an easy feat considering that Death Knights have to start at LVL 55 while most everyone else has a LVL 70 character in their back pocket. Over in the the good 'ol US of A, Essay from the Tichondrius became the first American Death Knight only three hours later. Gratz guys. |
Warhammer Online Patch 1.05 update: Highlights so far
Star Wars MMO, Warhammer Online console ports "under consideration"
Looks like console MMOs are becoming the trend. Electronic Arts has confirmed that console versions of Warhammer Online and the recently-announced Star Wars: The Old Republic are under consideration. Says EA's Frank Gibeau: We're definitely looking at the opportunity to bring the MMO experience to console, without question. We've got this product, and we've got Warhammer at play.
So we're trying to look at the primary research required to understand how would you deploy it, what the client size looks like, how big is the back-end, what the play experience looks like... Once we've got some of those questions answered, we'll be able to decide which is the right play to go after. However, he did end with: "We're not really in a place to commit or announce anything specific with regards to those." So it sounds like the ports stand at a very solid "maybe." It would be sweet, though. |

Blizzard: No Honor reset for Wrath of the Lich King launch
Blizzard has announced that there will be no Honor resets in preparation for the upcoming release of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. This was revealed by blue poster Bornakk on the official World of Warcraft forums. Here's Bornakk's post verbatim: We had hoped that the introduction of some new Honor rewards in the upcoming patch would give players a great opportunity to spend any of their remaining Honor. However, many players would still be surprised by an Honor and token reset as it isn’t something we’ve done in the past. As such, we've decided to not reset Honor or tokens upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King. Players who save their Honor will be able to spend it on level 80 rewards, although those rewards will be significantly more expensive than their level 70 counterparts. There you have it. If you're planning to gun for any of the new Honor rewards in Wrath of the Lich King, better start saving up those Honor points now. The Wrath of the Lich King expansion hits retail on November 13. |
