Cultists' Refuge is the third instance within TERA, requiring a minimum level of 35. In this instance, trash mobs can be just as deadly as the bosses, so it's important to be careful and move slowly from room to room. AoE skills are especially useful here, as they help clear through the trash mobs quicker and significantly decrease the amount of time spent in combat (and therefore also increase survivability).

Room A

In this room you will find multiple mobs, but also a lot of spikes that come out of the ground. The easiest way to get this room cleared is to have the tank rush in and pull the threat of all the mobs, followed by everyone else moving in. Everyone should stay away from the spikes, and instead stay in the middle of the room (although you can be on the outer perimeter of the middle, just inside where the spikes come up at).

Room B

In this room, you will run across a lot of crates with mobs (Mercenary Snipers) beside them. These mobs can be very dangerous, but destroying the crates (using AoE skills) will deal significant damage to them and will also knock them down. It's important to take down the crates using ranged skills prior to engaging the mobs.

Boss 1 – Galanos

Galanos is the first boss you come across in this instance. Throughout the battle he will be using multiple skills, each of which has an emote. They are as follows:

  • “Feel the mercy...of my iron mace!”

    • When this is said, he will create a red circle around himself and very shortly after will hit the ground with a pretty wide AoE (it'll encompass the entire circle). For this reason, ranged players should be as far back as possible while still ensuring they can attack. Others should also keep a watch for it and jump out of the way if possible

  • “Come forth, my minions!”

    • When this is said, the boss will run to the middle of the room. He will then spawn multiple Eager Auric Imps. These should be AoE'd along with the boss

Boss 2 – High Priestess Akia

When you get to the room with High Priestess Akia, you will first find only one NPC, Terrified Woman. Upon speaking to her, however, she will get larger and larger and will then turn into the boss.

The only emote High Priestess Akia uses is “My power is boundless!” After saying this, she will then raise herself up into the air and tosses out an AoE (marked by a red circle), however the damage it does is small. She'll only be in the air a short period after she leaps, so if you miss a hit or two due to her movement it's not a big issue. Other than this small thing, the battle against her is pretty straight-forward.

Boss 3 - Terkasia

When you first enter the area with Terkasia, you will just see a book on the ground, called the Treacherous Script. When you examine the book, the boss will spawn, however before you do this you should place a campfire and fully regenerate your stamina, as this battle can be a bit tough. During this battle you need to be aware of the following:

  • This is a very heal-intensive fight, so the tank will need to be healed often. Even the boss' normal attacks will add up over time

  • When Terkasia starts to move back and forth, stay out of its way. It will do damage to anyone in its path, but it is very easily avoided by just moving back. During this period, ranged players can still attack it without any trouble

  • It will occasionally dash towards someone, and they should immediately jump back out of the way, as it will do significant damage if hit

  • It has a very strong AoE that it will use rarely, however it deals a lot of damage to anyone near it and can one-hit some players. Because of this, it's important to watch carefully for its markers and if at all possible stay back and attack from a range

While Terkasia does not spawn any minions, she can still be a tough boss. The damage done throughout this battle is significant, especially if players are unable to avoid attacks. Because of this, having ample healing is a necessity, not only for the tank but also for the other players. Furthermore, if someone dies try to resurrect them as soon as possible, but make sure they are not too close to the boss when you do it.

Boss 4 – Bhaozurbas (Special)

Bhaozurbas is a special boss in that you are required to have a certain quest (The Last Thing We Wanted to See, available from Jelena) in order to get to him. You'll notice that the room is blocked, and if anyone in your group has the quest they can unlock the room he's in.

Bhaozurbas does frontal cleaves, PBAoE's, ranged AoE's and dashes. Being very attentive throughout this battle is imperitive as you can take a large amount of damage in a very short amount of time otherwise. Along with this, much like Terkasia, this battle is very heal-intensive. It can be hard to avoid all of the boss' attacks, so most of the group will need heals throughout the battle. Furthermore, the boss can teleport around the room, making this encounter that much harder (as being a “safe” distance doesn't always mean you'll remain that far away!).
