Based in the future when humans have managed the technology of intergalactic flight, Avatar is an epic sci-fi film lauded for its incredible visual feast. Put simply, even the pre-screening blew me and my whole family away!

I suggest all the viewers here go to an IMAX theatre to enjoy it (at the very least a 3D capable theater), whatever its revolutionary film-making, grandiose new ideas, never-before-seen special effects, or James Cameron's inspiration… everything that awaits will almost pop-off the screen and take your breath away. And I even found some nods to WoW and Guild War, the Pandora forest, levitating rock islands, violet luminescence, drifting tendrils, spots of blood-red, and alien fungal forms... So I guess the developer himself may be a MMO player, lol. Maybe he could be reading what I'm writing here. Hi, man! If you're here, please let me know! I've been one of your fans since Terminator 2: Judgment Day. I haven't had the jitters after a film the way I've had for this movie in quite a long time, to put it bluntly!

Although I'm attracted completely by its visual effect of the life-like wildlife, the jungle, the animals, the Na'vi-s, and the dragon-like flying creatures, I found its sound also seriously edited. The musical score lifted the material immensely. The entire sound system is set at the height of Oscar recognition as the feeling of machines, animals, footsteps, and even the arrows buzzing above your head enthrall you in Cameron's exquisite film.

Avatar is a beautiful piece of film, and a true event in entertainment. It does exactly what cinema was always intended to - it takes us away from our real life problems and worries for a few hours, and gives us memorable images which will undoubtedly and deservedly enter into the cultural lexicon to stay for the foreseeable future. That's what the sci-fi genre does best.

A good sci-fi game is always going to be a risk both artistically and financially, especially in today's economic climate. Whether it will pay it off monetarily is a question only time can answer. It is said that Ubisoft has issued a game based on Avatar, which takes you deep into the heart of Pandora. And you will be a soldier who goes to Pandora to see what happened there and then survive the adventure of the game.

Now let's have a brief look at other games involved with Sci-fi.

I think we don't need to mention too much about this classic game from Blizzard.
Let's expect the sci-fi game surge of Wings of Liberty, Heart of the Swarm, and Legacy of the Void! Expect to hear more about it in the future.

Zero Online

In the world of Zero, the players no longer play as warriors or mages in a desolate land, but pilots who master high-tech weapons, fighting in the immense universe. Shuttling between the numerous galaxies, the units of various forms and functions are navigated by the pilots to fight against ferocious alien enemies. It's an epic war: battling for the Earth Alliance is a pilot's ultimate honor and eternal duty. If you are dreaming of becoming a Transformer or fighting like the Gundam warriors from your favorite cartoons, this is one to take a look at. It is also a F2P MMO.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

I like Obsidian because of NWN2. If you've read my articles, you'll know I won't be tired of mentioning its masterpiece, lol. Here we go.

Star Wars: The Old Republic represents a new approach to online entertainment, featuring an immersive storyline, dynamic combat, and groundbreaking companion characters. The game takes place in the Star Wars galaxy, approximately three hundred years after the events of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

Star Trek

Also based on the same name sci-fi novel: Star Trek, in Star Trek Online, the Star Trek universe will appear for the first time on a truly massive scale.

Players can pioneer their own destiny as Captain of a Federation starship. Or, they can become a Klingon Warlord and expand the Empire to the far reaches of the galaxy. Players will have the opportunity to visit iconic locations from the popular Star Trek fiction, reach out to unexplored star systems, and make contact with new alien species. With Episode Missions, every moment spent playing Star Trek Online will feel like a new Star Trek episode in which you are the star. Immerse yourself in the future of the Trek universe as it moves into the 25th century: a time of shifting alliances and new discoveries.  – news from IGN.com

It's a shame that I prefer Fantasy games over Sci-fi, so I'll stop here. You can try all the above, or tell me more games to try out. Happy New Year! ^ ^
