So in my last blog I said that "games should use interesting and unique ideas to grasp players attention". Well some trailers can look interesting using either CGI, gameplay or a mix of both. But components that make a great trailer contain ingame highlights, reviews, music-gameplay, and something funny/cool. These trailers pretty much sums up the whole game and shows what to be expected when playing. This will reduce the time taken in research and more time enjoying other great videos.

Here is a link to my last blog where I say how a great trailer affects the opinions of gamers:

I have taken the time to summarize my main points, so just scroll to the bottom if you do not want to read it all. I know it is a long read but if you do have time leave a comment below or enjoy reading.

For games with just only CGI trailer, I expect a good CGI trailer that will hook my attention to check the game out. But if the CGI trailer is boring then I may skip past the game. If the game offer something cool to look at then I may put some interest into it. Same goes for gameplay, the editors should try and make the game seem unique and interesting as possible to attract gamers without having to result in to much enhancements during the video. Having great components working together in a great way will not only get rave reviews, but will help attract new customers towards there products.

Having reviews in a trailer is a nice thing to have because some players may only play games that people recommend to them. By having some good reviews, then it is possible to attract certain players towards that game. Also, gamers can expect that they game "may" be great to try as other players have already gave good reviews about it.

For ingame highlights, a lot of games should somehow try to uncover and reveal what the game has to offer. For example, in BorderLands 2 it said that it could be 4 player co-op, billions of possibilities for guns, and new skills. By revealing these it not only helps me know more about the game, but if I was interested in one of the highlights then it may be the reason why I buy the game. I have seen many players looking and buying games solely because if its offline co-op, and this game might interest them to buy it.

For music-gameplay, I believe the best trailers have both music and gameplay working together in unison to create both a visual and audio appeal. If the gameplay doesn't feel right towards the music, it would make it feel awkward to watch. By creating a great video basically, with both game play and music, it would help all gamers understand the feeling towards the game. Once players have a positive feelings towards a game then it is possible that they may trust their feelings to buy the game.

Have something funny/cool is a great thing in a trailer because it would a gamer remember a certain part in the video. For example, other than the gameplay itself, gamers want to remember the game by something cool. By having an interesting idea inputted into the video it will hopefully make the gamer re-call that one memorable moment. That memory of the game can spark an interest when it comes across a game that they only seen on TV.

All in all, by having all of these components together not only will it make a great trailer, but the gamers already know what to expect before they even buy or research online for it. By basically giving the great components of the game to the players, it will help players get the feel towards the game quickly and which as a  result they may pre-order the game due to interest. I say more game trailers should have these components because after watching this video, I was already interested in buying borderlands 2.

Summary of What Makes A Great Trailer:
Game trailers should contain components such as Highlights, reviews, music-gameplay and something funny/cool. Without having to hook the audience with just small videos and making them research further into the game, having a well define trailer will not only hook the players but attract them to what you are selling. Having the right combination of highlights(showing what the game has to offer), reviews(how well the game is placed amongst gamers), Music-gameplay(how the music and gameplay both affect the overall audio-visual) and adding something funny/cool (These are memorable moments where gamers will remember once they buy a game) will ultimately make a game trailer amazing and unique to look at. If there are more trailers like these, then it gives a great expectation of what the game has to offer. Overall, having a great trailer with working components will not only attract gamers but will also help gamers in their quest of finding a game.
