So I was doing other things last month, but that didn't stop Sony Online Entertainment from rolling out the updates for the upcoming Veil of Alaris expansion. That also didn't stop EverQuest from being inducted into the GDC Online Hall of Fame (congrats to SOE for that!), or from announcing that Veil of Alaris will go live on November 15th -- which just so happens to be my birthday.

And so it is now time to catch the rest of you up on what's going on with Veil of Alaris, and this starts with Rubak Oseka: Temple of the Sea. This combat zone looks hella cool, taking place in a large conch shell of a temple in the sea just beyond Sarith.

Let's see what SOE has to say about Rubak Oseka themselves:

Rubak Oseka is dedicated to one of the greatest heroes of the Alaran people now ascended into godhood. A gathering place for both the priests of Oseka and the Hadal, Rubak Oseka is a twisted temple of a conch shell grown to mythical proportions. Will this challenger of the Norrathian deities be victorious? Journey to Rubak Oseka and find out!

Who are the Hadal, and just what can players expect in their journey down through the great aquatic temple? Game Designers Ed Hardin and Norm Freeman have gotten together with Environment Artist Alan Bond to give the gaming world a glimpse.

(By the way, if you're cool, you'll click the ad in the video. Just click it, though, and then close it and watch the rest of the video!)

Conceptually, there's a lot of WoW in Rubak Oseka, if you ask me. That might sound silly given that EQ spawned WoW (by and large), but perhaps the successor is inspiring the predecessor? Either way, Rubak Oseka looks like an awesome zone to fight through, and it's certainly a step away from traditional MMO dungeon designs. Surely lots of treasure and glory will await players when Rubak Oseka drops with the rest of Veil of Alaris, so get geared, get here, and get fighting. Keep an eye out on November 15th, and be the first to take down the Hadal yourself.

Keep it posted here all week long, because there is lots more to come as we prepare for the launch of EverQuest's 18th expansion, Veil of Alaris. Until then, happy gaming.
