♥Asuna♥
So this is the second part of my series of articles about the 3 biggest game in the MOBA/Action RTS genre and I have to apologize for not writing it earlier but I had my hands full with studying for my finals.
For those who want to read part 1: http://my.mmosite.com/2728988/blog/item/dotadota2_lol_hon_part_1.html
So in part 1 I wrote about the games, like how their gameplay is and how the ingameshops are and I need to add that Valve has announced and released their "Cashshop". Most important difference between this shop and the others is, that all heroes are free for everyone in DotA 2. For more information about the ingame store visit the Link below.

So in this second part I want to write about the community, especially how people behave ingame. In the third part I will talk about the game mechanics such as pause, concede and etc.
Community
This is based only on my personal opinion so it will probably differ from what you might have experienced. I want to talk about the behaviour of people in game during a match and for that purpose let's take a look at HoN first.
Unless I queue with 3-4 mates I have the feeling that in 90% of the matches I played I was flamed by some other person or another person was flamed. Instead of pointing out someone’s weakness calmly and helping him improve their gameplay, people will usually first rage, insult and shout at the person with caps lock. Usually you know what you did wrong and even if you don't you might learn something new, but there are better ways to teach someone. And always remember it's a game and we aren't all pro gamers, faults are human so unless you want to help them keep your flame to yourself. What's even worse is when you are blamed for something that wasn't your fault or for no clear reason. Another issue is the bad attitude many have. If they don't get what they want they just troll and sabotage your team. Possible situations are when someone instant picks a hard-carry and expects everyone to build a team around him, or when he wants a lane and if you don't listen he will just spoil the fun. Lately it seems people don't even care about winning or losing, they just want others to do what they wish for. There is also the issue with spamming macros like dropping G's. It's when you have some pre-set chat macros and when you kill someone or think you've done some big plays some people spam those commands, filling the chat with G's or other spam. This has been forbidden and is forbidden now, but still it just shows the attitude of some players. So to sum it up, the community in HoN consists of so many flamers and immature people, it is really rare to find normal calm people who play to have fun, so best is to keep out of the in game chat and please never never ever try to teach someone or point out his mistakes, in 90% of the cases they ignore you or suddenly start to rage at you, so just play your game and if you feel like raging then be mad at yourself because u went solo-queue (or you've chosen bad team mates to queue with).
Next is the community in LoL. All in all I have the feeling compared to HoN there is less going on in the Chat, especially in the All-Chat. Usually you see some lines discussing the picks and maybe what lane to go and stuff like that but not much more. Even if the same problems like in HoN exist such as people flaming, raging and trolling, it seems to happen a fewer times. And I rarely encountered people who tried to lecture me on how to play. Even if the community isn't perfect I feel more comfortable.
And last is DotA 2 where I have the feeling there is no communication via ingame chat. Sure sometimes someone insults you or whines in the chat, but wow it happened only a few times. But it's also a disadvantage because no one coordinates the picks and line up and then the result are bad picks and not so good line ups.
You might wonder why I wrote so much about HoN community and not so much about the other 2 games, but that's because all things I mentioned which apply to HoN also count for LoL and DotA2, there are only small differences which I experienced.
Judging a community is always difficult especially when you compare them to similar ones. If you have a different opinion feel free to share it in the comments and maybe point out stuff that I didn't notice or forgot to mention. For the next and probably last part of the "series" I will talk about functions and also if you want me to write about some aspects of the games feel free to request them in the comments. Thanks for reading :3
