By: Stan D posted at Jun 26, 2012 11:57 am
The midsummer celebration has started across Azeroth beginning with June 21 lasting up to the 5th July.
Once again there's time to complete achievements required for the Violet Proto-drake mount's meta achievement What a long and strange Trip it's been.
As every year, here is the image of the drake mount. In order to gain it, certain achievements need to be completed, including Midsummer Fire Festival.
The Meta Achievement
Upon completion of all the achievements, you are awarded a title based on your reputation.
Here is a summary of all achievements which need to be completed for the title / mount sub-achievement.
Horde players are awarded the "Flame Keeper" title.
Alliance players gain the "Flame Warden" title upon completion of the above mentioned achievements.
Let's now have a look at the achievements one by one.
1. Burning Hot Pole Dance
Dance at a ribbon pole for 60 seconds while wearing a completed Midsummer set.
You have to equip the set which is awarded, by desecrating the fires of Northrend, Outland, Kalimdor, Eastern Kingdoms. But we will get to that in a moment.
2. King of the Fire Festival
Complete the quest, "A Thief's Reward", by stealing the flames from your enemy's capital cities.
This quest is completed by visiting all four opposite faction bonfires and extinguishing them.
The Alliance will have to visit Thunder Bluff, Orgrimmar, Silvermoon City, Undercity
The Horde will have to visit Stormwind, Gnomeregan, Ironforge, Darnassus
3. Torch Juggler
Juggle 40 torches in 15 seconds in Dalaran.
This is completed easily, by putting the torches onto your action bar, you just target the ground beneath you and spam the spell like crazy until the achievement is completed.
4. Desecration of the Alliance / Horde
Complete the Extinguishing Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Outland achievements.
To complete this achievement you need to visit location across the Azeroth which should not be a problem since you are allowed to use a flying mount. You will have to visit old content, Outland as well as Northrend.
A: Extinguishing Eastern Kingdoms
You bust desecrate the bonfires in Arathi Highlands, Burning Steppes, Duskwood, Loch Modan< The Cape of Stranglethorn, Western Plaguelands, Wetlands, Blasted Lands, Dun Morogh, Elwynn Forest, Redridge Mountains, The Hinterlands, Westfall and Northern Stranglethorn
B: Extinguishing Outland
You must desecrate the bonfires located in Blade's Edge Mountains, Nagrand, Shadowmoon Valley, Zangarmarsh, Hellfire Peninsula, Netherstorm and Terokkar Forest.
C: Extinguishing Cataclysm
The bonfires of Cataclysm are now also parts of the meta-achievement. The fires are located in Uldum inn and Twilight Highlands.
D: Extinguishing Kalimdor
E: Extinguishing Northrend: Borean Tundra, Scholazar Basin, Howling Fjord, Grizzly Hills, Zul'drak, Crystalsong Forest.
Bonfires located in Ashenvale, Bloodmyst Isle, Desolace, Feralas, Tanaris, Winterspring, Azuremyst Isle, Darkshore, Dustwallow Marsh, Silithus, Teldrassil and Southern Barrens.
This is how the bonfire looks like. It's shining bright, so you will not be having difficulties finding them.
5. The Fires of Azeroth
While extinguishing fires, you'll be honoring your Flame Keepers too.
In the same zones as stated in Desecration of Alliance/Horde, you need to talk to the npcs, which are usually situated in proximity of a bonfire, easily visible from afar. The one at Blade's Edge Mountains looks just like this:
Tauren Flame keeper located in Blade's Edge Mountains, Outland.
6. Ahune the Frost Lord
To obtain this achievement you must defeat Ahune. He's summoned within the Slave Pens in Coilfang Reservoir.
Each year / expansion, Ahune's loot table is updated to match the respective item level of the heroic dungeons and/or expansion. You will be able to queue up for Ahune, multiple times per day, to get 353 level items.

Midsummer is not celebrated only by the high level players, but also by lowbies throughout whole Azeroth. Many low level players have the tendency to gather across the fire poles, to dance and celebrate this festive atmosphere.
You'll be rewarded with the title once you complete the last of the sub-achievements. Here you can see and human warrior, who finished the meta achievement.
